Hino shivers with literal excitement, watching Mav work his magic on the book.

Purring, she comments to him “What those fingers can do…magic!“

Mav as you work on the music box you can hear an entities voice whispering maddeningly in your mind! You have succeeded in repairing the music box but must pay a price. Make three DC 13 Intelligence saving throws, taking 14 psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Something is manifesting from the book! Something has been unleashed!

Orvok stands watching as Emporious and Mav work their magic on the book, unable to contribute, and still battling his own inner demons - his experiences with the Shadowfell have left their mark on him, suppressing his usual energy, as though blanketed by a thin layer of the plane’s ash. Seeing the book repaired, and Mav in trouble, he shakes himself out of his torpor and unlimbers his axe, stepping forward to offer Clangeddin’s succor (That means aid and support, Hino!).

Silvery light wells up from his hands, the holy symbol facing his shield glowing in a similar manner, as he places a hand on Mav’s arm reassuringly.

’I’ve got your back, Mav. Never fear.’

Emporious watches in helplessness as Mav experiences some obvious mental anguish upon fixing the last broken piece. He closes the book in an attempt to stop whatever may be causing it. 

The book trembles, and its mechanical inner workings squeal to a halt for a moment before whirring back to life. You hear clicks, and shadows burst forth from the book like steam from a kettle, collecting along the ceiling until wisps of darkness outline a vague humanoid figure. Meanwhile, the scenes inside the book transform, creating an entirely new picture that includes tiny cutout figures of yourselves.

"Shemshine! Shemshine!" it screams, announcing itself, the words of the lyrics blasting in your head, it bellows: "See a mother scything wheat, forgotten husband sleeping near. With one swing she took his feet, with another took his ear! Does the shadow have a name? SHEMSHIME! Causes grief, avoids the blame! SHEMSHIME!"

Being that Isa has never really fought a shade/shadow before, she decides that maybe burning it would be the best choice. She casts a Fire Bolt at it hoping for the best.

Shemshine bears on the group and casts Whispers of Violence! Hino and Mav, make a DC13 WIS save to avoid BOTH of these effects: taking 11 psychic damage and using your reaction to attack another player of your choice.

Hino is wrought with absolute confusion, and instead of attacking the Shoeshine, attacks Mav instead:

Shaking her head to clear it, she mumbled a half-hearted apology to Mav, turns to face the ghost, yells out a BANZAIIIIII! (Samurai Fighting Spirit) and attacks it back-

Archie comes swooping into the fray providing a distraction for Barbär.

Emporious will slip out of the room and out of view of the attacking shadow. He will (bonus action) grab his spell book and evvoke its manifested mind. A tiny shimmery figure resembling Emporious appears inside the room amongst the others. It floats in the corner. "Worry not my friends I have not abandon you. I have simply taken another form." Emporious calls from around the corner.
