Seeing this maddening smoke figure pour out of the book, he wave his hand in front of him and small flecks of the embers from some holy forge swirls around him that glow with Radiant energy, as he casts Spirit Shroud! He winds back his glowing new Hammer and tosses one with help from the familiar Attack: 24 Damage: 14 plus 4 radiant damage

Recognising the danger, Orvok quickly invokes the blessing of Clangeddin (casting Magic Weapon on his axe as a bonus action), before stepping into combat with the shade...

’Clangeddin witness!’ he calls out in a thunderous voice…

Attack: 21 Damage: 8

Mav draws his sword cane and waves it at the specter not expecting to be very effective...

KABOOM! The bolt hits Shemshine and he screams in pain and anger! However, what was supposed to kill him only brings him back to 1 Hp!

Archie continues fluttering about the room. His wings making hushed flapping sounds as he swoops and dives. His antics continually drawing the attention of the shadow away from the rest for brief moments allowing for the next attack to have some advantage. 

Outside the room Emporious holds tight to his spell book. Through his psychic connection to the books manifested mind he is still able to see all that goes on inside the repair room. Seeing that Isa's spell fails to dispel the ghostly  manifestation and recalling Mav's obvious mental distress he decides to change tactics. He takes advantage of Archies distraction to cast a spell of his own. Crushing a bit of burnt wood in his hand he directs the spells magical energies outward from the manifested mind. As he utters the cadence that will produce a witch bolt he alters the wording slightly changing the damaged caused to psychic damage. Inside the room the air around the small glowing figure shimmers like the air above a roaring campfire. The shimmering air reaches out towards the shadowy entity.

Attack: 9 Psychic Damage: 29

Ouch!  Hino sucks up an incredible blow, but remains standing.  Seeing the shadow beast recuperate/regenerate from death gives her an idea.  She quickly scoops up the newly repaired book, and holding it tightly in her hands, moves it underneath the shadow beast and shouts "BE GONE YOU VILE BEAST!  GO BACK TO WHENCE YOU CAME!"

If Shemshine is sucked back into the book, she'll quickly slam it shut.

Shemshine merely laughs. 

See a dog that knows how to heel! Never heeds plea nor command! Mother gave it a tasty meal! Dog chose instead to eat her hand! Does the shadow have a name? SHEMSHIME! Causes grief, avoids the blame! SHEMSHIME!

Barbär sides up to mav,

Let me see your blade! And he will cast Magic Weapon on it, giving a +1 to hit and damage, and will back up again to not be clustered maybe 15 ft away from his party members, and as an action will indeed insight this death cloud. Insight 12

Orvok slams his (magic) axe into the shade… 

‘Begone foul spirit…’ he growls

Attack: 14 Damage: 10

He then quickly attacks again, using his War Priest training…

Bonus Attack: 19 Damage: 4 

Barbar, you look at the scenes in the book. The last one is Shemshine being crushed by a stone mill. You get the notion, as your companions beat Shemshine into oblivion over and over again, he will not truly die unless he is crushed by a very heavy weight. Certainly something very heavy can be found to crush Shemshine with here in the Cellar.

Barbär calls out what hes seeing, (if dm allows)

Hino, still holding the book, sticks her tongue out at the noxious cloud, and runs away to the open commons area, directly underneath the gigantic hanging sculpture of the book hanging from the ceiling.  From there, she’ll wait to draw Sheshime to fight here directly underneath (waiting for someone to drop the sculpture on top of Shemshime). 

Shemshine follows, promising pain, and then death.

Mav follows Hino and Scrimshaw in to the room, and hearing Barbar's comments about squishing it under something heavy, he notices the large book statue and looks for a way to cut it free from the ceiling to drop on Sashimi. 

Isa follows Hino, Mav and Shemshine out of the room and over to F1 location.  "There's got to be a way to bring that down on it and 'kill' it" she mentions to Mav.  "I might be able to fire bolt it to make it fall..."

She looks up to determine what is holding the large book sculpture to the ceiling.
