Three days... That does sound odd... Barbär mutters to himself, and continues muttering, some dwarvish words and some common, as he all but tears the place up. He begins near the bed, and flips the edge of a blanket and back into place, gets on all fours and looks under the bed. He continues to crawl expecting to see blood or scuffed boot prints, (perception or investigation, same mod = 3) doing so he absent-mindedly bumps into Hino.
"Well he's not in here and he hasn't left, or so they say. Next logical choice is he left through the portal."
Pulling out another piece of paper, and producing his magical quill with a twirl and a snap of his fingers, Emporious quickly scribbles a note detailing that he and any that follow have step through a portal. His details the command word and the time and day of departure. He also leaves instructions requesting someone open the portal everyday at mid day until their return as a precaution against being trapped.
"I'm going to go. Should any of you not want to take the risk I understand including you Isa. Thank you for your comany I hope to see you all soon." And with that Emporious steps through the portal.
Barbär's absentminded fumbling into Hino resulted in a full-on bump-n-grind. Laughing, "Barbär dear...sorry, but no freebies. If you're gonna want the dessert, you gotta pay for the meal!" Hino giggles.
Standing back up, her giggle quickly fades as she sees Emporious and Mavshoon hop through the portal. "Jeepers. Someone needs to keep an eye on the absent minded professor!" She pulls out her cartoonishly large sword (OOC: it's a Nodachi, or a samurai-flavored Greatsword, almost the same size as her petite body), and quickly hops through the portal herself.
Barbär stands and dusts off either that encounter, or the dust. He swings his shield from his back and slaps his helm back in place, and jumps through as quickly behind as possible.
As everyone enters the portal, it violently winks out of existence behind you. The first thing you notice is that the mansion is eerily quiet. Rooms with windows to the outside are lit by an indigo miasma swirling outside the mansion, which colors everything in the room with its tint. In the larger rooms it tones down the warm light of the oil lamps. You get the sinking feeling you are no longer in Candlekeep, but in some..pocket dimension perhaps? The ceiling arches to fifteen feet overhead, and long hallways stretch out on either side of the foyer.
The second thing you notice, standing in the middle of this area, is a middle-aged man wearing gray robes.
"Oh, my! Good heavens!"he startles, then regains his composure. "Hello! And, who might you be?"
"My word, what an interesting collection of people you are!"He says, taking another step forward. "Yes, indeed! I am Matreous. I see you have found the key word to entering Fistandia's Mansion! Well done! But, why are you here? Oh! Your arrival just might help me solve this mystery!"
"I, or I should say us now, seek your assistance. I hail from the town of Altus. My mentor Myrrdin believes that you hold the answer to stopping a curse that has caused drought and famine in the area. It is for this I have come to seek your council. This rest have come along out of goodwill and a desire to help for I have no reward to offer other than the gratitude of a people on the verge of starvation." Emporious explains.
Mavshoon brushes imaginary (or real?) magic dust from the shoulders of his suit, displacing Ozomun briefly who caws in irritation (the first normal bird sound they've made so far). He looks up and around at his new surroundings, notes the man in the robes and then lets his exuberant young friend deal with them. He points his cane towards the windows and says to no one in particular "It appears we are not in Kansas anymore Dorothy...."
After stepping through the portal, Isa's eyes widen a bit with intrigue as she takes in her new surroundings. "A pleasure to finally meet you Matreous" Isa responds as Emporious introduces the party.
'Kansas??? Must be his homeland' she thinks to herself 'but I thought his raven was Ozomun not Dorothy... I wonder who he's talking to.' Shaking off those wayward thoughts, she focuses in on Matreous "What's this mystery you speak of? I think we could help you solve a mystery if you can help Emporious and his hometown of Altus"

Sorry to butt into this conversation, and these quarters, but as we were looking for you, we were confused with people known as investigators. It made this seem very ominous, and compounded even more when we learned youve been here for three days. Is everything alright here? Your health was in question with a few people at the Rest.

"I think you could to! You see, I am stuck here. There was a command word to enter this mansion, but I do not know the command word to exit! I've been trapped here!"

"Yes, most guests at the House of Rest don't disappear within it for days at a time, so I can imagine their concern. I assume you are adventurers then? The staff probably mistook you as investigators, or else they would not just let anyone in to my quarters. It is flattering that they care!"
Yes, they do care. We never said we weren't the investigators, he says with a half smirk, And seeing as we have bumbled into this one, that i suppose does make us adventurers though we were here originally for studies. Looking him over, Im sorry, Matreous, are you hungry or in need of anything before we start figuring this out? Im sure three days of being trapped is unsettling to say the least.
If he is indeed hungry, Barbär presents 2 daily food rations to him and continues,
You strike me as a well educated person in the arcane, and im sure you have tried a few tricks here. Does magic still function properly here? I have two spells that may help a bit for this, but id like your opinion on them, such as detection spells, as you have spent time here
As Barbär talks with Matreous, Isa muses to herself, 'I wonder if time passes the same here as back in Candlekeep?' "So, how long do you think you've been here?" she asks Matreous.

"As far as I can tell, yes, magic works perfectly fine here. This mansion itself appears to be located in some sort of miasma, like a snowman in a snow globe, if you will."
"So, how long do you think you've been here?" she asks Matreous.

The portal shimmers, as if to imply it's not going to stay open forever.

Ozomun makes a sound that resembles something being strangled.

"Hello there. I am Emporious Palantine and these are my traveling companions, Isa, Hino, Barbär, Orvock, and Mavshoon."
He indicates each party member as he says their name.
"You by chance wouldn't happen to be Matreous the Mage would you?"
