The half-orc cocks her head to the side and looks at you, confused. "I do not have a 'daddy', I have a master. Talos, God of Thunder, and he will strike you down if you come one step closer. Now let me leave in peace or else suffer"
The half-orc senses that you will not challenge her any further and she turns to leave, heading off into the forest.
With no further distractions you return to Vincent and find him chewing intently on the fresh grass, then you resume your journey to the logging camp. The rest of your journey passes peacefully.
The logging camp spreads along the south shore of a river, where a dozen tents are arranged on a sandy beach. Near a dock stands a cabin with logs stacked under an awning. Older cabins close by have been torn down to leave only stone chimneys and foundations. A grim silence hangs over the camp, and you see no one around.
(Please refer to the map when deciding your next actions, you can split up if you wish or investigate individually. The key locations are:
Cackie wasn't really sure what was going on, or why everyone was going off in different directions. He followed Lei-Tana because he didn't know what else to do.
Lei-Tana heads up the hill to the two ruined cabins and takes a good look around, casting her expert eye over the fallen structures. They seem to be the remains of torn-down cabins of relatively modern design, so were probably part of the original camp here. Other than noting that this hill appears to in fact be a stone escarpment, Lei-Tana finds nothing of interest.
Cackie kicks around the ruins too, finding nothing of note or alcoholic content.
Meanwhile...
Thunderfist enters the cabin near the pier. The front door is unlocked and when he steps in he sees that this cabin has a wooden floor and is divided into two rooms. The larger room, in which Thunderfist stands, is cluttered with logging equipment - saws, leather harnesses for climbing trees, and so on. As the goliath heads across the room to investigate the door in the far wall, the floor suddenly erupts as a large insect-like creature bursts through the boards and attacks.
Meanwhile...
Elfaand Diplomat head over to the northeast camp site and carries out a thorough check. A dead campfire is surrounded by six tents, each containing a bedroll and a mess kit. Further inspection reveals that the tents and bedrolls have been partially dissolved by some kind of acid spray. Footprints and strange marks in the sand suggest several humanoids were attacked here and dragged away. The elf is able to deduce that the humanoids were killed and dragged down into the sand by burrowing monsters.
At that point Cackie, Lei-Tana, Elfa and Diplomat hear a loud crash and roar from the cabin that Thunderfist entered.
(Please roll initiative and declare your actions. Monster initiative roll 10 )
Lei-Tana will not be able to get an angle to attack the creature this turn - please see the map below. Squares are 5ft each, Elfa is in the top-right corner with Diplomat and Cackie & Elfa are on the left edge.
The stone escarpment is 10ft high in case Cackie and/or Lei-Tana wish to jump down it - I would need an acrobatics check if you do please.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Thunderfist looked at the insect and said "Stop bugging me!" Before going into a frenzied rage (frenzy and rage) and swinging his maul twice at the insect.
Strike 1: Attack: 13 Damage: 13
Strike 2: Attack: 7 Damage: 9
Assuming this hideous insect was responsible for the damage at the camp, thunderfist backtracks out of the cabin to try and avoid any acid that might come his way.
Diplomat dashes off at Elfa’sinstruction, moving as fast as he can towards the cabin where the crashing noise just came from.
Lei-Tana also sprints towards the cabin and makes it most of the way down the slope. As she looks up, the wizard can see through the cabin door and see the goliath barbarian within, the huge insectoidcreature standing just beyond him (but you used your action to Dash so cannot cast this turn)
Inside the cabin, the monsterrises on its rear legs and projects a long stream of acid from its mouth. The jet is so strong that it blasts through the doorway and nearly reaches Lei-Tana outside.
(Thunderfist must make a Dexterity saving throw and get a 13 or higher. If you don’t, you take 17 acid damage. If you roll 13 or higher, take half that, rounded down)
Elfaimbues herself with lightning speed and sprints towards the cabin, overtaking Diplomat and covering about three quarters of the distance in a matter of seconds. From her new position she can see through the window of the cabin and the acid-sprayed barbarian inside, but not the source of the attack.
Waiting for Cackie’s turn, already got ThunderFist's to process after that.
Cackie wanted to find out more about this creature, particularly as it speaks a language the party can understand.
"Now we're going to do something extremely fun. We're going to play a game called 'Who is your daddy and what does he do?' "
The half-orc cocks her head to the side and looks at you, confused. "I do not have a 'daddy', I have a master. Talos, God of Thunder, and he will strike you down if you come one step closer. Now let me leave in peace or else suffer"
Cackie looks over to Thunderbird and enquires "Is that your daddy?"
Let's leave the Orc to go on her way peacefully.
