The man looks surprised by Thunderfist's simmering menace, so much in contrast to the unfettered anger of his earlier violent act. He may have misjudged his chances in this fight...
"OK fine, if you want to play silly buggers then be off with you. Be thankful these people were here to save you today"
He picks up some wooden splinters from his broken crates and starts to tidy them away, muttering under his breath. The crowd disperses, seeming either relieved or disappointed that there will be no morning punch-up today.
(Remember your quest continues at Barthen's Provisions when you are ready; there you are to pick up supplies and take them to the logging camp)
Whilst Thunderfist wouldn't have given a second thought to killing the professional crate stacker, he had clocked the guards watching on, and killing him in front of them and the crowd would no doubt have made him unpopular... which may have meant having to leave town or killing everyone.
The crate stacker seemed to have come to his senses however and he walked past him, crushing a few crates as he walked over them.
Thunderfist turned round to look for Cackie and Lei-tana and he couldn't see them either...
Regardless, he made his way for the supply store to start the next quest
You head to Barthen's Provisions to pick up the supplies for the loggers' camp.
Barthen, a lean and balding man of around fifty, tells you that his clerks have filled two crates with supplies as he hands you a sheet of parchment, upon which is written an inventory of the crates’ contents: foodstuffs such as dried meat, blocks of cheese, and loaves of bread, as well as casks of ale and flasks of oil. The two heavy crates are loaded onto a two-wheeled cart pulled by an ox. “The ox’s name is Vincent,” says Barthen. “I’ll expect to see him and the cart returned, thanks.”
Lei-Tana catches the gang up at Barthens Provisions, the supplies are ready to go, "Sorry for my recent absence! I heard the townsfolk talking about a near punch up?! I hope everyone is ok! Hopefully Cackie should be here shortly, then shall we venture on for the next mission?"
Barthen smiles at the mention of Cackie "Oh you know the good monk? He's becoming very popular here, not least with Toblen the Innkeeper! The kids love him too, although their attempts to copy his nail cutting technique are not proving popular with the parents"
The logging camp is two days’ journey and requires tracking through the deep forest of Neverwinter Wood, which you will reach towards the end of the first day; make sure you have plenty of rations packed please (which reminds me; everyone deduct 1gp for rent & food for the last night).
The character with the highest Survival skill – Cackie – will be required to navigate. Everyone else is welcome to assign themselves a task – leading Vincent the ox (Animal Handling), keeping lookout for danger (Perception) or some other task of your choosing.
Once you have decided, please post with your intended skill’s roll and a description of how you want to spend the first day of travel.
Thunderfist opted to be the chief of booting gates and axe swinging. His job would be to smash, kill, intimidate or punch anything that got in the way of Vincent; and throwing in the occasional poorly thought out one-liner for good measure.
Cackie arrived, disappointed that Wonderwilly had decided against having a fist fight.
After being brought up to speed with the task ahead, Cackie sizes up one of the casks of ale, cracks it open and gives it a big sniff. He then dips his finger inside and rubs it into his gums. "This is definitely ale"
Cackie does a head count and asks if everyone is ready to go.
Elfa whispers to Vincent and the ox sets off at a leisurely pace, towing the heavily laden cart behind him. With Lei-Tana perched atop a barrel on the cart and scanning the road ahead, Cackie walking up front checking the map at regular intervals and Thunderfist doing slow loops of the convoy to screen for trouble, the party seems well set up for most situations.
The first day goes very smoothly, Cackie’s job is made easier by the road going in your general direction, and Lei-Tana sees no sign of danger on the road or in the surrounding wilderness. By nightfall you leave the road and stand on the edge of Neverwinter wood. a deep fog descends upon you as you set up camp for the night, ready to head into the forest at dawn.
(I need to know you plans for the night please, guard shift order etc. Also a Perception check from everyone; just in case, you know...)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Perception : 13
"I'll take the shift after Cackie"
He flopped back onto the floor with a loud thud and began snoring so loudly that the ground shook and the trees rustled, causing various twigs ,leaves, and even a squirrel to fall out of the canopy.
The night passes peacefully, almost unsettlingly so. In the morning you put out the fire and pack up your kit, when Elfahas a close call: a scorpion had crawled into her boot in the night and she's been about to pull it on with the angry little fella inside. Luckily it is easily shaken loose and scurries off towards a bush.
The second day of your journey will be through the dark and mysterious depths of Neverwinter Wood, so I need please:
From Cackie- three Survival checks (to navigate)
From Lei-Tana and Thunderfist- three Perception checks each (to keep lookout for danger)
From Elfa- three Animal Handling checks (to lead Vincent)
Thunderfist stopped and looked at the angry fool and said:
"You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?"
"Go on and make my day"
Intimidation : 21
7 persuasion.
"Both of you stop, Thunderfist look at me. That's enough"
Elfa pulled a very unsettled face at Thunderfist who has started her after his fit of rage

"Well that went better than expected!" Le-Tana declared to the group as they readied themselves for their onwards travel...
"Why? You had the best security around, we had nothing to worry about. I think the scorpion ran away from the smell inside Elfa's boot.
I hope you all packed your swimming costumes, we're off to Neverwinter!"
