"That...that's a big bird..." Cackie mumbled to himself as he rubs his head, as if to aide a hangover. Stonelynn seemed to be sniffing the coins to assess them, so Cackie thought it was best to leave her to it before taking his share.
Stonelynn suspects that the key has magical properties, although it will take an identify spell (or a rest period familiarising with it) to learn its true powers.
Stonelynn looks like she is in deep thought - she is sure that she's read something about this shrine that might remind her what the key is for. She reckons that between them she and Elfa can work this out!
ThunderFist bangs his head against the bell to little effect once more - it might be that heat would be more effective than skull in defeating this inert opponent.
Stonelynn and Elfa continue to examine the key, trying to work out if the context of the key's surroundings might offer some insight to its nature. All they can deduce at this point is that it seems to be some sort of skeleton key, but not constrained to this shrine.
With all leads exhausted here, maybe it is time to get back on the road to Butterskull Ranch?
You head back north and rejoin the Triboar Trail at the ruins of Conyberry. Elfa struggles to stay mounted on Diplomat's back, maybe because of his slight limp from the battle.
ThunderFist hoists the bell and carries it on his shoulder, using one hand to hold it steady while his greataxe swings in the other.
Once back on the trail you head east towards Butterskull Ranch. You arrive shortly after midday, as the shrine was your first detour of the day after waking.
Butterskull Ranch occupies a large plot of land on the north side of the Triboar Trail, nestled between two hills. Beyond a ramshackle wooden fence stand corn fields, an apple orchard, gardens, and pasture land. A path breaks off from the trail to lead to a two-story farmhouse next to a pond. West of the farmhouse are the charred remains of a barn and smithy that have been burned to the ground.

Cackie looked around at his battle-worn party. Thunderboy had an arrow sticking in his head, but he didn't feel it was worth bringing to his attention. Instead Cackie suggested the crew take a short rest to regain some health.
After a touch of R&R, Cackie could feel the ki flowing through his body once more. However, there was a distinct absence of alcohol flowing. In the distance he could spot the orchard and the pond, he felt this was a potential opportunity to make use of his brewer's kit, so he makes his way north, towards the orchard.
(The map says that 1 square = 5ft but it’s actually 50ft, sorry)
Cackie makes his way to the orchard, catching the unmistakable scent of fermenting apples on the breeze. He arrives to find just that; apples lying on the ground in various states of distress, but little else. From here he sees a total of seven humanoid bodies scattered between the farmhouse and the destroyed barn, although he cannot make out their race from here.
Stonelynn finds the outhouse empty of people, but full of plenty of other evil. Aside from the nasal assault it poses no threat, but as she scans the area she spots movement within the farmhouse. Someone is moving inside, maybe many people – it is hard to tell without getting closer.
Elfa and Diplomat catch up with Cackie at the orchard. While the ursine sidekick gets stuck into the apples, Elfa sweeps the surroundings and spots the same bodies that Cackie saw – five humans and two orcs. She also spots people (maybe non-human) inside the farmhouse but can gather little detail from this range.

Cackie prioritised the fermenting apples over the dead bodies, and spent some time selecting the best of the bunch and bagging them for the cider that he planned to start later on. Once this was done, he looked around at the dead bodies and inspected them for wounds, or any sign of how they came to be deaded. Cackie had been in the market for a new weapon, so also checked the corpses for any loot.
Lei-Tana moves up to the orchard and then the fallen bodies with Cackie. They find nothing of value; the humans are dressed in basic worker's clothes suggesting they were farm hands, the orcs wear rudimentary armour and were wielding vicious greataxes.
At the farmhouse, Stonelynn reaches the east wall, spotting a well at the north east corner and a cellar entrance to the north as she approaches. Once at the window, she looks in to see a large kitchen with two orcs inside, arguing.
Stonelynn is diligently taking in the scene before her when she hears a thunder of hooves and boots. Unable to see what is going on to the south of the farm house, she is robbed of the sight of ThunderFist and David Cowie charging up to the building. She does, however, hear the startled cries of an orc from the upstairs and sees the orcs inside the kitchen dash to take cover either side of the kitchen door.
Lei-Tana and Cackie see the whole fantastic show; the dash, the orcy cries from the farm house, and the kick at the front door.
(ThunderFist make a Strength roll please - the door seems to be barred by something)
(Everyone roll initiative and declare actions. Lei-Tana and Cackie are 200ft north west of the farm house. Lhia is either still 800ft down the path to the south, or 300ft south west in the orchard).

Elfa turns to Cackie "all good"
Elfa laughed to herself with the thought of all the clumsy things Cackie had done on the journey so far.
Elfa walked over to Stonelyn and could see that she sussed the key was magical. But where was it from?
"Can I take a quick look at that"
History check on the key please- 11
Thunderfist attempts to break the bell once again with a flying headbutt, taking a longer run up this time.

"Right everyone let's get going to the ranch"
Elfas legs were tired so she gave Diplomat a nuzzle and asked him kindly if she could hop on his back home.

Thunderfist picks the bell up and hoists it over his shoulder, following Elfa and diplomat to the ranch with his cow friend trotting along side him.

Let's go get some apples Diplomat!! Elfa said as she nuzzled into his neck.
Elfa does a perception check as the place looked incredibly well kept.
