So he has studied and knows how combat should be but has no practical experience in battle. As he his approaching retirement, he is suddenly realizing that he has spent his whole life studying and teaching something that he has never experienced himself. He has decided to take a sabbatical and explore the world and test his knowledge and mettle.

I have other ideas for a more complete backstory. Still working on a name but that’s the basic outline of the character. 

As for the type of game, I’d like a little bit of everything since I have never played as a player before. I plan to go for an eloquence bard so chances for social interaction would be good for me.

 

edit: there’s so many posts here but it looks like there’s already a bard. I can be flexible and come up with any class if needed. I just really want to play.

The professor has chosen to join this expedition for his sabbatical to expand his research on historical battle tactics and civilizations. There is a dearth of information on the Ozymandium empire because of the cataclysm. He wants to become the expert on the Empire and it’s military tactics and methods of warfare. He hopes this to be his final and most well known research paper and hopes to gain the esteem of his colleagues. In addition, he wishes to finally step away from the classroom and research libraries to explore and perform the research he has only read about others doing.
