Melaria looks to Tygron and with the secret meeting with Herbert, and noticing Tygron looking around a little more than usual, she'll quietly ask him. "Are we expecting company?"
“I hopes not, but we should look sharp lass, especially wherever ambushes might be easier. This road ain’t as safe as t main one.”
Melaria will nod and reach to the equipment on her back. She grabs it and holds it next to her, grabbing it tightly. Whispering a quiet incantation and readies an Eldritch Blast incase of any problems.
Once the group has parted ways with Herbert, Indio runs through some calming exercises from his training, and the tension melts from his shoulders. He returns his attention to watching woods to the right. (Passive perception: 15)
When Teo speaks, Indio replies with a slight smile and gestures with his empty hands.
Thank you, brother, but no. What comes I will accept with open hands.
Ryn: As the vegetation begins to thicken along the road, Ryn abandons the left flank in favor of traveling ahead of the wagon.
Feeling vulnerable in such a narrow passage, Ryn removes a spear from the bundle across his back and draws up his small shield - hand carved and bound in leather. In answer to Melaria, he says, "My father used to say, "If you always expect the worst, you can never be disappointed." With a laugh, he continues, "We'll be ready, and should nothing occur, all the happier."
Lost in thought for a while, suddenly Tygron says- “So, not be knowin ye all well and not knowing how ye would handle Yer self in battle, I’ll share me thoughts. ‘Fate favors the prepared” as we dwarves say. No offense meant fer those whom this is old news. ” he glances around at the group. “ I also don’t be knowin what ye all can do yet, although I suspect ye know what Yer doin- that be why Yer here!”
if there’s an ambush and it be lookin bad, we stick together. Me god will give us a blessing if I ask- fer me, Melaria here and Ryn in the front. No offense to ye elves, my Magic’s got limits or I would bless ye too. Melaria and I will attack at range with Magics to start, and if needed I’ll join ye on the ground with me hammer. Focus yer attacks to reduce their numbers quick as we can- And always keep an eye out for magical types- they’re dangerous ones to be sure. We don’t look like we gots enough treasure here to interest anybody who’s much tougher than us- so there’s hope we will make it through, and mayhap we will have a peaceful journey.”
You round a bend in the trail and about 40ft ahead of you there are two horses lying in the road littered with arrows, blocking the path. A goblin looks up at you.
"Well, well lads, look what we have here. A merry band of adventurers." He raises his hands and makes some mocking air quotes as he says 'adventurers'. As he does this four more goblins make themselves known by laughing loudly and raising up from behind trees and foliage, two either side of the trail. The two furthest away draw their shortbows and the closer two draw horrible rusty shortswards. "Dangerous trail this, lots more of us lot just outta sight. I think we will be appropriating them goods...I suggest you 'adventurers' turn tail and leave the wagon to us. Go on, p*ss off!"
What do you do?
((I'll try and track some encounters like this. Let me know if the positions don't look quite right round the wagon. PS - apologies for the terrible sprite I found for the wagon!))
5 Tygron persuasion check. (Are we rolling here or in the campaign log and transcribing?)
((Map Looks good:))
Tygron lifts his shield and says to the goblin leader”Bah, we ain’t stopping. Yew best be moving them carcasses out of the road if ye knows whots good for ye! Let us pass, we ain’t gots nothin worth yew dying over” Not expecting this to work, and not sure how many there are, he casts bless on himself, Melaria and Ryn. To his companions, he says “we can see if they will let us through but goblins are nasty ones and ain’t too bright”

The goblins don't seem impressed, if anything it makes them more impatient. The one that appears to be their leader points at you, "You got 10 seconds!"
(( Let's roll in here please:) Sorry, the edit was because posted before meant to))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Does Melaria sense that the Goblin is full of shit when he says there are many more of them? Insight: 18) Melaria studies and focuses on what the Goblin is saying, trying to get a sense of truth from it. As if it were possible, the grip on her staff tightens even more, a swirl of green energy begins to circle and surround the staff. (Keeping Eldritch Blast ready on aggression of any of the Goblins, focusing it at the one by the horse.

Indio Sylvanath
Goblins aren't particularly subtle, Indio knows, and they're not particularly likely to hide their number. (Insight: 8) Of course, the way things are going, it looks like there's going to be a fight whether there are more goblins or not. He sizes up the goblin nearest him, but waits for a cue.

“Yeah I don’t need 10 seconds t decide nothin.- take out the leader first lass, maybe the others have more sense.” Tygron says, as he casts sacred flame on the leader (I assume the one in the road?) He grabs his warhammer and drops to the ground to use the wagon and mules to get some cover from the goblins (who he assumes has arrows). ((Let me know what cover is available and from who))
DC 13 dex save or 7 radiant damage. The spot where the goblin is standing is engulfed in glowing flames that descend from the sky....
Teo notes that his fellow party members are spinning up the magic so he readies an arrow. Teo will take Steady Aim at the goblin with a bow closest to him (top right?). He will hold his attack action for any sign of aggression from the goblins.
Ryn: Having had many dealings with Goblins during his years of wandering, Ryn smiles and says, "Are you... talking?" With a chuckle, he continues, "If you thought you'd win, you would have already attacked."
Hoping to draw the first volley to himself, he says in Goblin...
"Cowards! Look how frightened you are of us! Flee now and we won't tell anyone we saw you. Now get out of our way, you disgusting filth!"

Melaria aggressively points her staff, and as she does so, the swirling green energy that was circling the staff leaves it and launches in the direction of the Goblin in the road. (Unless they end up dying, then the one in the bottom left.) After the energy leaves, she quickly vaults off her side of the wagon, and moves behind it to get some cover.
So we have a dwarf with a warhammer calling down fire from heaven, an angry tiefling blasting away with magic, a tall elf with an arrow nocked, and a crazy human shouting in...well, goblin, Indio guesses, but it might just be angry gibberish. And in the middle of this stands an unarmed little blue elf. Indio stoops slightly - taking another couple of centimeters off his already unimpressive height - and holds out his empty hands, trying to look helpless. A noncombatant? An easy kill? Either mistake will cost a goblin dearly. He inches toward Ryn, as if for safety, but really in support. He prepares to attack any goblin that charges in.

You get the impression that as charismatic as the lead goblin is, there are no more goblins than the ones you can see.
