Ryn: Smiling sheepishly, Ryn answers, "I think it is true enough. They never tell you everything though."
Upon hearing of a Druid willing to help, he says, "I've met many in my travels. They are... particular, but I've found them to be honest and fair folk. He might also know something about these strange southern forests and Castle Cragmaw."

Tygron says to the redbrands “thanks for the information- we will be sure to mention Yer help to this Glasstaff- whot manner o person is it anyway? It’s in yer best interest I’m sure to give us all the info- since glasstaff won’t be none to happy with ye- you’ll be wantin us to take em out.”
(Then we will head out to try to find the Druid next, I suppose?)
"This Glasstaff, or whoever the Redbrand leader is, is sure to notice seven members unaccounted for, and begin organizing a defense,"the monk points out. "We may lose the advantage if we delay further."
Teo relaxes a little as the friendly halfling seems to understand his request. “An introduction to your Druid friend would be most appreciated, my lady. Any friend of the land is a friend of ours.”
The halfling lady nods at your mention of the land.
To Two and Tygron; "My name's Qelline. And my druid friend is called Reidoth. He's currently studying...who knows what... at an old ruined town called Thundertree. He set off a couple of days back, but who knows, he might have seen your friend. It's not close... a couple of days north of here." She marks your map.
" He knows the area surrounding Phandalin really well, of you need a local guide, you'd struggle to do better."
She looks around the group; "You all look exhausted. You're welcome to rest up at my farm if you want, given what you did for us so far with the Redbrands. It's not much but I have a hay barn you can rest in, might be safer than an Inn with Redbrands still about..."
Ryn: Not sure if he completely believes the man, Ryn answers, "Could be true, could be lies, but the one thing I believe in is self-preservation."
Speaking in a casual manner, he says, "If you've told me the truth, well I've heard the Lord's Alliance is always in need of new recruits. Isn't that right, Sildar?"
He then leans in close and continues, "If you've lied or left anything out, however... you can look forward to spending the rest of your lives rotting in a prison cell."
Insight: 14
Once he's gotten his answers, Ryn returns to the party and shares what he's learned.
As far as Ryn can tell, what the Redbrands have said is true. They seem resigned to a few days in the cells.
Sildar nods at the mention of the Lord's Alliance, "Aye, that be true." Then he takes Ryn to one side; "I will rest up here in the Town hall. I'm not as young as I was. The Redbrands are sure to figure out there are some men missing by tomorrow..."
((It's still early in the day, mid morning, you'd have time for a long rest if needed))
Tygron says “methinks we get a few hours rest up and then try to catch the Reds by surprise tonight, afore they knows whots whot? Sounds ok? Then we can heads to see that Druid and improve our chances at the castle”

One of the Redbrands responds "He's a wizard. Weird, always studying. And he's made a pact or something with that weird eye thing. Gives it gifts and fresh meat, and it helps defend the place. I've never seen it, but some of the lads n lasses have and it creeped them the f*ck out. All I know is we were asked to scare away any adventurer types, and Glasstaff takes orders from the black spider. Got no idea who that is though, we aren't told nothing."
Ryn: After the party regroups, Ryn perks up at the mention of Thundertree, saying, "I grew up near Thundertree. Plague took the town when I was a boy. I wonder why he'd be interested in that old ruin?"
Addressing Indio's concerns, Ryn answers, "They said they were sent to deal with us, so this "Glasstaff" must already know we're coming. We could spend the next few hours gathering information and looking for other work. Tell everyone we're going after those Orcs for the reward money and make it appear we left town. Then we could rest awhile and take on the hideout under cover of night?"

Tygron says “I like yer thinkin! Seems this glass staff is a wizard, with some kind o scary pet. We should get any advantage we can. Anyone know anything about a black spider givin orders?”
Indio is trying hard to politely ignore his "admirer", as the child is almost as tall as he is. He forgets the boy entirely when one of the Redbrand mentions the Black Spider. "The Black Spider? We've heard that name before," he reminds Tygron. "Klarg mentioned him, did he not? It was he who wanted Gun....our friend captured. He's behind Glasstaff, and these Redbrands? That's interesting, indeed. Yes, we mush have a long talk with this Glasstaff."
Ryn: After thanking Qelline for the country hospitality, he asks, "Happen to know of any work around here for the adventuring sort?" as he lounges comfortably in the hay.
Absently chewing on a piece of straw as he thinks about what they've learned, he says, "Seems this Black Spider has his fingers...er, legs into everything in these parts. If he controls Glasstaff and these Redbrands, he likely controls the whole damn town. I can't imagine they'd just let the Town Master operate things without controlling him too. Who knows who else may be agents of this Black Spider?"
Melaria finds a comfortable spot, or as comfortable as they can get in hay, and lays down her Dragon. She then takes off some of her outer armor and gear and sets it down. Taking a seat on the hay and listening to the conversation.
As you explore the town the smithy has a look over the weapons and offers you 5gp them all.
We'll take it! (add 1gp, 6sp, 5cp to your inventory, everyone, assuming we will convert the change for maths sake)
Teo will see to his equipment while there is some down time, refilling his quiver, checking the fletching of each arrow, restringing his longbow, etc. Replying to Ryn, "This Black Spider does seem to be everywhere. It beings some clarity to stories I've heard told when I was wandering some ruins north of here. I thought it was a folk tale, used to scare away scavengers. Never thought that this Spider could be real, and in actuality, a person." Teo unsheaths his rapier and checks the edge in the light. "We should tread carefully from now on. Ryn is right. No telling who among the townsfolks are working for the Black Spider."
He stands and checks the straps of his armor, making small adjustments here and there. "The descriptions of the Red Brand lair leave me uneasy. Bandits and hobgoblins are one thing. But Wizards and other unknown corruptions give me pause." He looks across the barn at the party. "Our road leads us that direction, I know this. But let's be careful, yes? If the numbers are not in our favor, or if we confront some abyssal abomination beyond our abilities, we run, yes? I've just got some coin in my pocket, and I would love to stay alive to spend it."
Ryn: After thanking Qelline for the country hospitality, he asks, "Happen to know of any work around here for the adventuring sort?" as he lounges comfortably in the hay.
Qelline thinks for a moment. "Well.... I know Harbin has some Orc trouble he wants sorted, and that's on top of the trouble with the Redbrands.
Then there's Daran....Daran's an eccentric fellow, an aging elf, he used to be an adventurer himself. He's always got his ear to the ground for these things, sure I heard Daran saying if he was younger he'd sort the undead himself. Whatever that means...he's got himself an orchard now on the North West of Phandalin.
Oohh, we got one small shrine here in Phandalin, a shrine to Tymora. It's tended to by Sister Garaele. She's always up to something. Might be worth talking to her.
Unless you got any questions I best be tending to the animals and crops. You are welcome to stay here for a few days, I could even sort you breakfast for a few coin.
She gestures to her boy, "come now Carp, leave that poor elf alone"
Summary so far You met Gundren and were escort a wagon of goods to Barthen's Whilst enroute some goblins tried to rob you Followed a trail from there to a cave hideout Slayed some goblins and bugbears Found some loot and then made your way to Phandalin Were assaulted by a group of Redbrands Put some of the Rebrands in cells Now at Qelline's farm
What you have learnt Klarg mentioned that he worked for King Grol, who was at Cragmaw Castle King Grol, was taking orders from the Black Spider, has taken Gundren. Gundren had potentially found the entrance to the Wave Echo Cave, an ancient mine that contained lots of wealth and a magic forge. The Rebrands also appear to be taking orders from the Black Spider.
Potential leads Orc trouble for the Townmaster Clearing the Redbrands & finding Iarno Albeck for Sildar (200 gp) Finding Gundren for Sildar (500 gp) Darran the old adventurer at the orchard Sister Garaele at the shrine
(Thanks for the summary!). Tygron says “I’m fer dealin wit these redbrands tonight late- while we may have the element of surprise- or at least afore they gets reinforcements from this “spider. “ also seems like they gots prisoners there we can get freed. if this eye -pet o the glasstaff likes meat, maybe we can get past it without fightin?”
He sketches out the layout of the redbrands base based on the description the prisoners gave.
Ryn: Ryn slowly stands, stretching his arms and legs as he leaves the barn. Tipping his hat to their hosts, he says, "Thank you both for allowing us to rest here. Please, take this for the trouble." He flips a gold coin to Carp and smiles, handing Qelline a coin also.
Wiping hay from his duster, he says, "We should probably make sure there aren't any more Redbrands lingering around town before taking on the Manor. Someone at the Sleeping Giant should know their other hang outs."
Checking his gear before they depart, he warns Qelline, "Keep your doors and windows barred this evening, ma'am."

"If we meet more of these Redbrands before this eye creature finds us, we may have plenty of meat for it," the monk notes grimly. "I, too, would like to clear out the Redbrands and this Glasstaff first. Not just to limit the time they have to prepare, but...well, I don't like leaving something half-done, and getting rid of this threat to the town clearly makes the locals more likely to help us in return. Help us prepare to rescue Gundren," he clarifies.
