KD's head and body lean toward Fae, but her eyes stay on the tree, eyebrows high. "Fae? Does this give us heebie-jeebies that are related to the heebie jeebies the last accursed tree gave us?"
Burn scarred hands reach up, lowering the hood to reveal a woman with long black hair braided off to the side. Vibrant violet eyes look over. "While there's 'heebie-jeebies' here Miss KD, it is not a Gulthias Tree like in the well of the manse. This feels to me like a lure."
With as much Arcana knowledge Auric has, and as good as KD's investigative eyes are, there's only so much details one could ascertain a little over 60ft away without physical inspection. What they do know, is that it's transmutation magic in a 60ft radius, which is centered at the base of the tree. It'd be fair to conclude that it's affecting the tree down into it's roots, explaining the large radius. It is also plausible to conclude that the dolls are components to this magic, and that it contains something that smells of pig. That detail follows the theme of Anchorites of Talos and confirms that it is indeed not a Gulthias Tree, and could very well just be a trap.
Nova lets out a soft 'prrt' sound. Her eyes move in rhythm side to side and her hips start wiggling. She creeps to the side, crouches and then pounces the tieflings tail.
"Arcane emanations encircle the tree at twenty-four paces in all directions, including the root system," elucidates Auric, suggesting, "As the zone is a likely trap, let us bypass it or perhaps ignite the malignant dolls from range."
Fire dances on the tips of Auric's fingers, and he appears prepared to send in flames towards the dolls from a (hopefully) save distance of 90 feet. He appears to be waiting for others to opine before he brings forth the flame.

Hansel has trouble comprehending why this ugly tree with ugly dolls could be considered a lure or a trap. What was so alluring that would draw anyone in? The Sunite has no desire to approach any closer, but will aid the spellcasters in their investigations if needed...
((You know, I'd entirely forgotten that Hansel has the Guidance cantrip, but would like to start using it more. I know it's a little awkward in PbP, but perhaps we can allow that if there is sufficient time for Hansel to provide divine guidance, and he is aware of the actions of others and not otherwise occupied, then I will have Hansel cast Guidance and I will make the d4 roll on the other player's behalf, rather than wait for them to post again.))

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
"You go ahead and burn that thing down...just to be sure."The dark Tiefling says grimly. Meanwhile his tail, as if having a will of it's own, sways playfully back and forth before prowling half-elven woman.
(As a player who usually has Guidance I agree and welcome you to do so Zorg. My only ask would be, which I trust you'd do anyway, would be to add a little RP/description of how he would do so before the roll :) )
Auric strikes directly on target. One of the dolls erupt in flame, burning at the base of the tree. Black smoke wafts from the fire. KD follows suit, sending her own bolt of fire to ignite a doll to burn at the base of the tree. A third bolt streaks by, igniting a third doll.
Fae Bolt vs Doll Attack: 18 Dmage: 7 (rolled in log)
Nova pauses from trying to pin the tieflings tail just long enough to peek out from behind. "Aye! Better not burn this tree down. This one's innocent!" She chastises. It was also a reminder to not be careless with flames in the middle of a forest. She sticks her tongue out at them. Pbbt. Magic is sent to the base of the tree behind the dolls. Frost crystals form for the briefest of moments before thawing to moisture that protects it from the licking flames of the three dolls. Turning her attention back, Nova pounces the tail.
”The transmutation magic infusing this innocent tree down to its roots seems to be anchored to these dolls, and it’s aspect is somehow…porcine. Perhaps should we eliminate the dolls and free the tree?” suggests Auric in an unusually plain-spoken manner.

The dark Tiefling gives the slightly feral girl chasing his tail a curious look. A child of nature it seemed, innocent and wise at the same time. He himself barely knew enough about the wilds to survive in it so he simply nods in agreement while his tail keeps dodging the Half-Elf until it is finally caught.

“I agree with your assessment Auric. We must pick the dolls off one by one.” Fae says simply. “Naturally, we must be mindful of any flames, as one good gust could set this forest ablaze.” She adds to satisfy Nova’s caution.

The tiefling successfully distracts Nova with his tail. She continues to play and pounce until she catches it.
(Yes he can target with EB. The dolls are targetable by spells/ranged weapons. Anything less than 60 ft brings you into range of the root system which will be triggered. It’s also realistic to note that some with have to go around to the other side of the tree to get the dolls on the other side, as they do circle the tree.)

Watching the barrage of fiery magic against the sinister dolls, the dark Tiefling finally decides to join in with the target practice, unleashing a dark beam of eldritch crackling force from his outstretched hand towards the doll that is currently being targeted by the others.

Hansel doesn't like the look and feel of the tree, but is still curious about its purpose. The cleric isn't too knowledgeable about most topics, but does know a bit about the gods and the rituals of their worshippers, and wonders whether the party could be attacking some kind of shrine to one of the gods. He stays at a distance, but tries to look for any hints...
It was in that moment, she knew she messed up. Fae's firey bolt misses the doll and tree completely, streaking by into the nearby brush causing it to catch fire. Exactly what they were cautioned not to do. The scholar will never hear the end of this...
A sigh could be heard from behind the tiefling and Nova pokes her head out. She puts her hands on her hips as she tsks Fae. She then licks her finger and holds it up in the air as if to test the wind, then proceeds to finger gun point it towards the brush fire. "Pew." She shoots a shard of ice that cuts through the air like a knife. It bursts upon impact, melting into moisture which blankets and snuffs out the flame before it could get out of control. She points her 'gun' up and blows 'smoke' from the tip, then winks. With a giggle, the woman bobs then sways, still wrapped up in Nepharios' tail. "What would you do without me!" She teases with a purr.
Auric could use fire. He'd just have to be accurate to avoid what Fae just did. When paying attention, Nova has the ability to suppress the flames, within reason, as seen here, and at the manse.
KD's bolt strikes true, piercing through the heart of a doll. Nepharios follows up her shot with a bolt of his own. Crackling energy burrows into a doll, exploding it's contents in it's core. Then with impressive accuracy, Verr'iden fires an arrow, finishing off one of the dolls while those on fire burn down to a smolder, which makes it about 5/10 dolls. Auric's detection would begin to feel the transmutation magic begin to weaken with each doll.
Hansel reflects on the tree and it's dolls. Using his knowledge in faith, he knows enough to confirm Auric's earlier assessment. This is the work of the Anchorite's of Talos. While it is evident of ritual magic, it is that of a trap in the name of their god. It wasn't a shrine. Therefore the cleric can conclude that Auric identifying it as a trap is accurate. But why indeed? Would their goal be to delay anyone trying to get to the Circle of Thunder? Wouldn't that be somewhere a shrine or ritual for the likes of a god take place? Not this innocent tree corrupted by pig infused dolls.
