While Hal attempts to swat away the attacker, KD attempts to shoot it. However her bolt flies short, grazing the wererat's fur. The steel defender presses it's attack. Mechanical jaws clamp down with such force, Hal's teeth successfully pierce the vermin's tough hide, rending their flesh to shreds on site. KD moves further away from the group for 1/4 cover by a bush, but doesn't go unnoticed.

Demetrios was surprised at the wererats strength, so sure that it would be an easy knock down but it proved to be a stalemate between the two! He quickly thanks Hamish and Fae for their intervention though, giving him a chance to get into a better stance. This time he was ready for a possible shove, and remains sure footed!
"Alright. No more playing around."Demetrios says, mainly to himself. Focus. Focus...

Thanks to KD’s craftsmanship, Onu’s blade cut through the beasts hide smooth like butter. Blood spilled to the ground. They indeed were not playing around. Demetrios follows up Onu’s swing with one of his own. The silver blade cuts off the last of the wererat’s lifeforce before he’d even get to sear it with his smite.

Despite Hal’s heroic efforts, SpiderNova still sustained heavy damage to her limbs. It was a strange screech, but it was definitely one of pain. Pushing through it, the Druid shuffles to rear itself back then launches itself at the Wererat who was trying to tear the mechanical defender apart.

Anyone nearby would immediately smell a deeply odiferous, mouthwatering cheese, much better than what was found in town. She looks up at the wererats, gives a desperate look at Nova, and throws it. Not as an attack, but purposely just past the wererats, down the path.
Catching anyone's furrowed brows or look of confusion, she shrugs.

Grimacing at both the pain and the failure of her cheese-rock gambit, KD surveys the ambush, which is not going well. Hal almost returns to his maker, bits and bobs of him dragging in the dirt, but there is still fight in his eye light-diodes. He stops before getting to her, and crosses his arms. He stamps his foot. Still looking at her, he points at the melee. His metal face somehow forms an expression of "can we please get back to the task at hand?" and KD relents, releasing him with a wave. He returns to the nearest wererat, and explodes in a furious attack, making screechy monkey sounds as his arms and fangs flash in a blur.

Seething through their teeth as they bite back the pain, yellow eyes lock on Nova. “My my, a little shifter like you could be interesting…” They lick their teeth. “One of us…” Ignoring the mighty metal mayhem, the rat strikes and bites at Nova.

Onu attempts to turn the Wererat's shove into a pull-down onto his gleaming rapier and follows up with a strike to the inside of the feel creatures' knee.
Hamish is looking really rough. Blood is pouring out of his arm where the Wererat has clamped down on it. "I could use some help here!"
Hamish lets some of the blood drip on his free hand. He pulls forth his holy energy and shouts, "You all are a Bane to this place and you will not survive."
Hearing his call, Demetrios quickly presses a hand against Hamish's back to administer 10 points of Lay on Hands in hopes it will close some of his deep wounds. "I am with you!"
BA - Casting Sanctuary on Hamish - Until the spell ends, any creature who targets the warded creature with an attack or a harmful spell must first make a DC13 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature must choose a new target or lose the attack or spell!

Onu gets knocked down, but gets back up again, no ones gunna keep him down. He successfully drives his rapier into the wererats torso, following up with a wicked kick. Although it was not effective, it was still plenty satisfying. The monk could tell the life was draining quickly from his and the wizards attacks.

Nova was so focused on avoiding the claw, she forgot about those teeth! She prepared to brace herself for the bite. It was a fast rat! Instead, she hears a metal clang. Hal’s foot catches the rat in the jaw, knocking them out of trajectory. Her face lights up, impressed with the little monkey. She claps then reaches a hand out for a fist bump.
Meanwhile Hammish’ cry echoes through the battlefield, threatening to disrupt the pack.

Hammy’s call is met with reassurance from one of his new companions. Demetrios was indeed at the clerics side the whole time. Reminded of his presence, Hamish feels the warmth of a strong touch against his back. There was relief from mending of wounds, and the comfort of protection.

Nova brings her fingers to her mouth and let’s out a sharp whistle. A gust of wind blows through the group, kicking up a bit of dust and rustling the leaves of KD’s cover before settling. Silence then hangs in the air. KD feels a soft weight on her shoulder, as if a hand was placed there to ease some of her pain.
The Druid licks her digit and holds it up into the air as if testing the wind. She’d look thoughtful for a moment, then regrip the log in her hand and adjust her stance so that her feet are shoulder width apart. “Batter up!” Nova would blurt, bringing her hands together and lift the hardwood. Although it was a massive swing and a miss last time, she was giving it another try. She’d wiggle her hips and drum her fingers along the shaft. She swings!
Out of her peripherals, KD would catch sight of something spectral over her shoulder… No… On her shoulder. A little transparent spider had perked with a few of it’s limbs in the air. Was it cheering? When their eyes meet, the mini spider blinks then gives the tiniest wave.

As much as she wanted to keep using those guaranteed reserves, the wizard caved. Inhaling a breath, she conjures a small spark in her palm, the flames lick lightly against her scarred flesh, then with a quick flick, she fired the bolt.

Demetrios drives his blade into the wererat's side, critically cutting into them. Their screech echoes the one of the others in the distance. The paladin's divine senses pick up hints of darkness seeping into Hamish's bite and spreading amongst the cleric's blood stream.

The injured wererat hisses. They writhe, lashing out in a series of continued gnawing on the cleric's arm and clawing wildly.

Grimacing at both the pain and the failure of her cheese-rock gambit, KD surveys the ambush, which is not going well. Hal almost returns to his maker, bits and bobs of him dragging in the dirt, but there is still fight in his eye light-diodes. He stops before getting to her, and crosses his arms. He stamps his foot. Still looking at her, he points at the melee. His metal face somehow forms an expression of "can we please get back to the task at hand?" and KD relents, releasing him with a wave. He returns to the nearest wererat, and explodes in a furious attack, making screechy monkey sounds as his arms and fangs flash in a blur.

While KD’s shot misses the target, Hal continues to steel attacks in defence of the group. In a flurry of high pitched screeching, Hal returns to Nova’s side and rends the rat man.

The screeching multiplies, erupting as the Wererat joins in vocalizing their pain. Seething through their teeth as they bite back the pain, yellow eyes lock on Nova. “My my, a little shifter like you could be interesting…” They lick their teeth. “One of us…” Ignoring the mighty metal mayhem, the rat strikes and bites at Nova.

Having been distracted, stabbed and struck by lethal magical darts the forth Wererat is filled with frustration and fury. Seeing red, they had it out for the source of that powerful final blow. Taking firm stomping steps forward, the Wererat tries to shove the monk out of the way to make their way to the hooded wizard.

Hal tries to kick the wererat's knee as they try to bite Nova! Imposing disadvantage on the attack. He sticks one finger up in the air and wags it back and forth.
Onu attempts to turn the Wererat's shove into a pull-down onto his gleaming rapier and follows up with a strike to the inside of the feel creatures' knee.

Hamish is looking really rough. Blood is pouring out of his arm where the Wererat has clamped down on it. "I could use some help here!"
Hamish lets some of the blood drip on his free hand. He pulls forth his holy energy and shouts, "You all are a Bane to this place and you will not survive."

Hearing his call, Demetrios quickly presses a hand against Hamish's back to administer 10 points of Lay on Hands in hopes it will close some of his deep wounds. "I am with you!"
BA - Casting Sanctuary on Hamish - Until the spell ends, any creature who targets the warded creature with an attack or a harmful spell must first make a DC13 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature must choose a new target or lose the attack or spell!

Onu gets knocked down, but gets back up again, no ones gunna keep him down. He successfully drives his rapier into the wererats torso, following up with a wicked kick. Although it was not effective, it was still plenty satisfying. The monk could tell the life was draining quickly from his and the wizards attacks.

Nova was so focused on avoiding the claw, she forgot about those teeth! She prepared to brace herself for the bite. It was a fast rat! Instead, she hears a metal clang. Hal’s foot catches the rat in the jaw, knocking them out of trajectory. Her face lights up, impressed with the little monkey. She claps then reaches a hand out for a fist bump.
Meanwhile Hammish’ cry echoes through the battlefield, threatening to disrupt the pack.

Hammy’s call is met with reassurance from one of his new companions. Demetrios was indeed at the clerics side the whole time. Reminded of his presence, Hamish feels the warmth of a strong touch against his back. There was relief from mending of wounds, and the comfort of protection.

Nova brings her fingers to her mouth and let’s out a sharp whistle. A gust of wind blows through the group, kicking up a bit of dust and rustling the leaves of KD’s cover before settling. Silence then hangs in the air. KD feels a soft weight on her shoulder, as if a hand was placed there to ease some of her pain.
The Druid licks her digit and holds it up into the air as if testing the wind. She’d look thoughtful for a moment, then regrip the log in her hand and adjust her stance so that her feet are shoulder width apart. “Batter up!” Nova would blurt, bringing her hands together and lift the hardwood. Although it was a massive swing and a miss last time, she was giving it another try. She’d wiggle her hips and drum her fingers along the shaft. She swings!
Out of her peripherals, KD would catch sight of something spectral over her shoulder… No… On her shoulder. A little transparent spider had perked with a few of it’s limbs in the air. Was it cheering? When their eyes meet, the mini spider blinks then gives the tiniest wave.

From the shadow of her hood, Fae gritted her teeth. She knew it wouldn’t be wise to drain herself of all her magic tricks this early in their journey. As much as she wanted to keep using those guaranteed reserves, the wizard caved. Inhaling a breath, she conjures a small spark in her palm, the flames lick lightly against her scarred flesh, then with a quick flick, she fired the bolt.

The bolt catches the wererat in the throat, erupting them in flames and rendering them unconscious at Onu’s feet.

The fifth Wererat licks Hammish’s blood from their lips, then each of their claws. Beady yellow eyes focused on him. There would be a side glance of consideration for the paladin, but once they had a taste, they were fully focused on finishing their Ham for lunch.
