Hello! For like the 3rd-4th time! Our game has been happily chugging along with 4 players, but I meant to have 5(we lost one). They're approaching a stopping point where I could conceivably have another character join up, which is what this thread is for!
If you need reminders, original recruitment is here and the second thread is here.
I'll go ahead and post the relevant information you need here however:
World Name: Ravere Primary Plot Setting: Empire of Evanicea
For a time, the mortal races of Raverewere bound together under a single banner. Driven by prophetic nightmares of desolation, High Queen Saturnia united the reams of men, elves, dwarves, dragonborn, and all others into a single empire. With the strength of their unity, the guidance of the demigodly Seven, and the power of the Starlight Court, the forces of Raverewere able to push back an invasion of horrific creatures known as Abyss Heralds.
With their purpose fulfilled, the Seven were guided to a realm fitting their divinity with a device crafted by the pantheon, the Infinite Ark.The Starlight Court and its Luminous Knights were given stewardship over the Ark, should the need for the Seven’s return ever arise.
After the passing of a millennium, old alliances fell apart, and upon the death of her then ruling son, Saturnia’s empire shattered into a dozen different kingdoms.
In an era bordering on a dark age, the Starlight Court disappeared in an act that would be immortalized as the Abdication. With the peacekeeping Courtvanished, the world teetered over the edge into a period of widespread warfare, destruction, and desecration.
Cities, artifacts, history, and entire cultures were lost during this time.
Forty years ago, Prince Valerius Astre blazed a path of conquest across the middle kingdoms of Ravere, forcing the other noble houses to concede to his rule. It is no great secret that House Astre fancies themselves the spiritual successors to Saturnia, destined to unite realms once more. However, most consider their ravings of the Abyss Heralds' return as nothing but madness. Valerius might have conquered the entire continent, were it not for the rise of a powerful vampire lord to the west, overthrowing House Nautusand turning Gorzhadiainto a kingdom of undead. With a horrific force at their flank, Valerius was forced to pull his armies back west to secure the mountain passes separating Evanicea and Gorzhadia.
The two regional powerhouses have been at a stalemate since then, though the horde of undead grows larger ever year.
On the surface, the region appears at peace since House Astre’s unification of Evanicea. But ancient hatreds and new hostilities bubble just below the surface, threatening to destroy faux peacetime image of the new kingdom. As Valerius' reign comes to a natural end and his son Drasusprepares to succeed him, allies of an old enemy make their move against realms of Ravere.
You have been summoned to the town of Silverfair by an old friend/family member/acquaintance SybilLynsav(a soldier native to the town in question). Silverfairsits at a crossroads connecting three mining towns in the region, each set into the Shining Peaks to mine its rich silver veins. Though the region has always had a problem with mindless undead(nothing like the cunning undying beings to the west in Gorzhadia), as of late they have become more numerous, vicious, and organized. Knowing your talents, Sybil has called on you to help her get to the bottom of this.
-Tentative Pantheon - Ellemrar, the Lord of Runes(Knowledge/Arcana) Maliel, the Everlasting Flame (Light/Life) Amah, the Lady of Winter(Nature) Sandail, the Howling Lord(Tempest) Elwirith, the Shade(Trickery) Amaya, the Iron Goddess(War/Forge) Mirophir, the Sorrowful(Death) Ambriel, the Twilight Sovereign(Twilight) (you are welcome to suggest your own gods)
What's Happened so Far? Upon arriving in the town, the party met with Sybil at the Topaz Hammer, learning that new, deadlier undead seem to have risen out of the mines in nearby settlements. After requesting the party's help in investigating the cause of the new undead, they split up to collect information and resources in Silverfair. They received a bag of explosives from a local arcanist by the name of Elixyr, in the event that collapsing the mines is the only way to stop the threat. From a priestess, they learned that the new undead are faster, stronger, and appear capable of raising new undead from their slain victims. After a brief encounter with the living dead at the town's perimeter, they decided to visit the mining settlement Feycrest, as it is the closest and fastest to get to from Silverfair. With a night's rest under their belt, the party hits the open road towards Feycrest.
Arriving at the undead infested mining town, they find scant survivors barricaded inside the town's inn. The leadership of the town, CouncilmanPaten, is still alive and doing his best given the situation. After an off-hand remark from one of the town's children piques their interest, the party move to the outskirts of town to investigate the now abandoned manor of the Redvale family. Inside, they find the scattered remains of another group of some kind, whose purpose in the town they have yet to puzzle out. Their belongings pointed towards a location in the mines, and contained diagrams and command words to an ancient ruin.
After being attacked by horrific skin-wearing creature, the party followed it into the manor's basement. Inside, they found a strange shrine to a deity they've never heard of, and a teleportation platform leading to the aforementioned ruins. The ruins themselves lead them to an extra-dimensional space that appeared to be serving a hub for various teleportation platforms that the undead creatures were using to attack the SilvershardMountains region at night. After blowing the entrance the undead used to reach the teleporters, the party retreated back to the Inn at Feycrest to plot their next move...
Where will you come in? Unless they all die, or have a sudden change of heart, the party is rapidly approaching a return to Silverfair. My plain is to have your character be a latecomer, answering Sybil's summons but arriving just a few days too late to join the others.
Miscellaneous Info
Campaign will start at 4th level.
Campaign will be combat-lite at the start, while I get the hang of Play-By-Post and develop digital map making skills. That being said, once I get into the groove of things we can kick it up a few notches and run some gauntlet adventuring days. ;)
That being said, one of the things that interests me the most about Play-By-Post is the RP potential, so expect to lay heavily into that during this campaign. If you're just looking to "roll dice and smash monster heads," this may not be the campaign for you.
This setting is fresh out of the oven and so undercooked/raw Gordon Ramsay would probably scream in my face. Some details may be subject to change and player input is always welcome.
To start out, I'll be expecting at least one post a day. If you miss a day we'll put your character on follow-mode until you return. If you know you're gonna be too busy, just drop a message in the OoC so we know what's up. If you're gone for a week, your poor character is going to have a brain aneurysm and be replaced.
I'm most active during U.S. East 6pm - 2am, but I'll take players from any time zone.
At this table, we roll for ability scores and throws 1's in the garbage. ((re-roll all 1's, the same applies to hit die on level ups if you roll instead of taking the average)).
If you aren't sure if something (race/class) is allowed, just ask. I can't think of anything off the top of my head that is forbidden.

The application Name - Race - Class - Connection to Sybil - Backstory, Character Motivation, or Roleplay Excerpt -Ability Scores -
Zinhorn was a wood elf who grew up in the forest near Silverfair and as he grew older and he came into town and lived on the streets as an urchin. He grew skilled in the use of a bow to hunt, stalking prey in the woods. He grew up on the edges of society, staying in the shadows, and he was proficient in hunting in the dark. He would bring deer and other game into town to pay for his supplies and to sustain himself. In the last few months he encountered more and more undead in the surrounding areas of Silverfair, he was alarmed by the change in their behavior and sheer numbers. He learned to track them and hunt them down as well.
Sybil Lynsav knew better than to travel alone at night. But sometimes as a soldier you have to press on, she was used to forced marches, being unable to stop at times. She knew how to travel and was not afraid to go the extra mile, she knew how to defend herself. Usually zombies required just a simple dagger thrust to the skull and problem solved. The problem was the the undead surrounding Silverfair had become more aggressive, working in coordinated attacks. They were... different. Stronger. Smarter. And able to surround and work together to attack anyone who was vulnerable, or alone. She found herself surrounded by a group of zombies one night, she was cornered. Suddenly an elf appeared behind them, out of the dark and sliced them down with his short swords. She owed a debt to Zinhorn, and grew in her regard for his abilities that night. They shared a campfire and then travelled the next morning on to Silverfair together.
Two months later, Zinhorn was coming back from a hunt when he found a note hammered onto the door jamb of the butcher. "To Zinhorn" read the note, the letters slightly stained and blurred from a rain 2 days ago. She asked for his help with the recent increase in undead activity, asked him to meet with other adventurers to help in this task. He was called to meet at the Topaz Hammer. He knew that he was likely too late but he was curious anyway, so three days after the note was hammered onto the door he made his there and walked in, looking for Sybil.

We'll do some sneaky ability score rolls here first and see what we can make off of it!~
Ability scores: 16131215137 Name: Sylnora Vülinn Race: Half-Elf Class: Bladesinger Wizard Connection to Sybil/Backstory Sylnora hails from a conclave of moon-elves that reside within the Evanicean Empire. As subjects of the Empire they are as reclusive, paying taxes in whatever form the nobles deem necessary, but otherwise keeping their interactions with the rest of the nation to a minimum. There are exceptions of course, and her birth was the consequence of such an exception, when her mother left the conclave for a period of years to get a taste of adventure. By the time she was born, her mother had returned to the conclave, raising her entirely within the elven culture. Growing up she was found to have an affinity for both spell and blade, and was thus trained for such.
Though she never faced outright hostility or rejection due to her dual heritage, she always felt a pressure to prove her worth to the conclave, sometimes taking on tasks far beyond her ability as a result. When her mother received a mysterious message asking for help from an old acquaintance, Syl took it upon herself to take up the call. It took some time, but in secret she prepared her belongings for the journey and left a note before sneaking her way out, hitting the open road in earnest for Silverfair.
Name - Rephael Navarro Race - Fallen Aasimar Class - Enchantment Wizard Connection to Sybil - Unknownst to Sybil, the game of chance she played a few years past outside of the city, was not a game of chance at all. Rephael had his own bets on it, and he secretly rigged the game, caused Sybil to lose. Coming back to Silverfair, Rephael finds Sybil and asks to pay off his debt to her. And oh boy does he has a lot of debt to pay.
Backstory -
Rephael was born in the eastern Evanicean Empire, a city that thrives on pitfights and other blood sports and games of violence and danger. In the years running up to Rephael’s birth, this aspect of the city had taken an even darker turn as demonic cultists entered the region, setting up their own carnivals and spectacles outside of the city to compete with the games within for gruesomeness and thrills.
Rephael’s mother was a royal courtesan who was visited by an angel concerned with the turn of events outside of city. He promised the young woman that her offspring would bring safety and security to those who entered the games against their will or who might be put up against unfair or unforeseen odds.
When Rephael was born and it was immediately evident to all that the child was nothing ordinary. Pale in complexion with snow white hair, he grew in grace and wisdom, taught by the finest tutors. He showed an interest in magic, and his natural talent made sure he barely had to study, if at all. He extracts power of the Weave as easily as common folks taking water from a river.
When he came of age, Rephael took his prophesied role as an overseer - a protector of sorts - who surveyed the games taking place in the region and identified when some participant was placed in an unjust predicament. Naturally, there were many who tried to get around Rephael’s watchfulness. They held secret events, or attempted to use magic to hide their intentions. The people grumbled about the Aasimar’s involvement, calling him a curse on the once free city of trade.
Sometimes their efforts to hide their cheating were successful, but what ired Rephael the most was how much money he saw the games masters making, especially when they cheated. He was aware of how half the city (the less scrupulous half, of course) held him in disdain. His duty had been thrust upon him and for it he received little thanks or recognition.
When it all became too much for him, he made a decision: he would no longer oversee the games as the patron of those placed in danger unjustly. He would use his powers for his own benefit. He teamed up with a charlatan outside of city, and contrived to place bets of his own on the various events he would be overseeing. Then, when the event took place, he subtly used his own enchantment gaze to influence the event in favour of his bet. Sometimes this worked against the crooks and in favour of the innocent...but as often it went the other way. Rephael didn’t care anymore. Everybody was making money from these games, and he wanted to be one of them.
Indeed, he managed to get away with this little scam for years. The whole city had come to think of him as the angelic being charged with making sure that all dealings were above board, so nobody ever suspected him of actually being involved in the corruption. He made a tidy sum of money for himself, and his friend-in-cohort made a nice little profit for herself too.
One night, Rephael woke in his chamber to find a visitor in his room. It was his angelic father, scowling down at him, thunderclouds swirling around him.
“You have betrayed your purpose in the material plane,” the angel boomed. “You renounce me - your father - and you sully your very nature. Now, you will suffer at the hands of the anger and corruption you were meant to salve.”
Rephael was wracked with agony and the feathers of his wings were stripped and his angelic natura ravaged from the inside out. Such was the pain that he fell unconscious. When he woke, it was to the sounds of men storming the manor house, looking for him. With no other choice, and weakened by his encounter with his father, Rephael escaped through a secret passage and made his way out of the city. His angelic abilities had been all but robbed, though not entirely. He does know, he will need to pay a hefty prize to get them back.
Name -Ambrose Race -Human Class -Evocation Wizard Connection to Sybil -I'm thinking that maybe she had a relative that knew Ambrose during his adventuring days and recommended him to her. Backstory, Character Motivation, or Roleplay Excerpt-
Ambrose had to work in order to master the arcane. He spent endless hours poring over tomes of lore and trying to soak in the knowledge that his tutors gave him. Eventually that knowledge paid off and Ambrose became one of the most powerful wizards of his day. With his sharp mind and command of magic, Ambrose became a mighty adventurer, exploring ancient temples, slaying great beasts, and engaging in arcane duels with liches. As a result of these adventures, Ambrose gained a great deal of prestige, enough where colleges of magic tripped over themselves in trying to acquire his services as a professor. He accepted a deal from one of these colleges and quickly made a name for himself in his post-adventuring career as a professor of evocation, teaching the next generation of wizards who became respectable arcane casters in their own right. Maybe not as good as he was, but that was nothing to be ashamed of.
But the years would wear on. Even Ambrose's power could not stop that. His body betrayed him and even his mind was no longer what it was. He had ceased to contemplate the mysteries of the multiverse and he no longer had the mastery of magic that he used to have. He was even beginning to see the point where he would retire from his job as a professor and have the final years of his life for himself. But one day, Ambrose heard about the passing of a man he considered to be a rival. He heard how the man grew senile to the point where he needed the help of others to get dressed in the morning and how it was almost a mercy when the gods decided to claim him. Ambrose refused to go out in such a manner. He resolved then and there that he would not let his mind rot with disuse. Ambrose resigned from the university and returned to his life as an adventurer, with a set goal of either regaining his lost power during the last years of his life or dying with the knowledge that he didn't become a doddering old fool.

Dòrn Larainn Human Monk
Ability scores: 18141791217
Dòrn Larainn's monastery is located somewhere in the Shining Peaks and, as part of his tasks at the monastery is to fetch supplies, when needed, from the nearby town of Silverfair, which is where he met Sybil. The first meeting happened after Dòrn Larainn successfully resolved a confrontation, without resorting to violence, between himself and a couple ruffians in the market where he was acquiring various herbs and simples. The two were slightly intoxicated and seemed to have taken exception to his baldness and manner of dress; they thought his robe was unmanly and started to try and shove him around to prove that clothing makes the person. Onlookers might have thought it odd that the two never seemed to be able to touch Dòrn Larainn, while he, on the other hand, never even tried to touch them. Rather he critiqued them on each of their attempts to land a blow and, after a short time, with them huffing and puffing, he offered to by them a pint to slake their thirst. Being the sort to try and gain any advantage that allows for saving of face through braggadocio, they took him up on it jokingly, at first, saying they 'made' him give up. In later re-tellings I am sure they turned that into a 'forced him to' because of their pugilistic skills - not that most would believe them or any folk of their ilk when making such bravado claims.
Sybil did not make acquaintance with Dòrn Larainn right then, but later on near a food vendors stall where he stop to purchase a horn of fresh goat's milk. She introduced herself and complimented him on his handling of a 'delicate' matter without ruining half the market. And, over a period of some time, they became better know to each other, having wide ranging conversations on many topics, including Dòrn Larainn's training at the Doorway of the Sky monastery.
So it seemed quite natural and right for her to raise the subject of her need for help getting to the bottom of this intensifying plague of undead. After Dòrn Larainn apprised his superiors of the problem, learning they were well aware and had been considering a response so, they gave him the task of assisting Sybil in this matter. Dòrn Larainn just missed the first expedition due to the time it took him to travel to and from the Doorway of the Sky.

The application Name - Benagol Race - Human variant Class - Fighter Connection to Sybil - Benagol is actually from Silverfair, he left years ago for military levy and learned many fighting skills. But then he received a letter from his frined Sybil and left everything in a hurry to get back to his native place to find out what is afoot.
IN his youth Benagol was a rascal (I will put stealth) so in the end he had to choose between guard/thief and he chose the first, at least the army provided a steady income...

The application Name - Khufuruh Race - Owlfolk lineage Class - Graviturgist Wizard 3, Fighter 1 Sybil connection/backstory excerpt
Khufuruh is an owlfolk, who after leaving his nest in the Feywild, made his way to a military academy in the Material Plane. After training there for a time to become a competent strategist, he wandered through the world working for various mercenary companies and armies as a low-grade tactician, becoming reasonably well known for his skill at small-scale troop movement. He didn't make too much gold, but after a while he had enough to try a short vacation from the constant movement and struggle of his usual lifestyle, and came to Silverfair to reconnect with Sybil, who he had fought with before.

Name -Ambrose
Race -Human
Class -Evocation Wizard
Connection to Sybil -I'm thinking that maybe she had a relative that knew Ambrose during his adventuring days and recommended him to her.

Name - Cardos
Race - Tiefling
Class - Wizard (divination)
Connection to Sybil - Cardos met Sybil at sea, and the two of them braved an inexplicable storm. In it, they saw visions of the past and future and things that seemed impossible. Cardos threw himself into studying it, and attempting to recreate the phenomenon with such fervor, that it actually drove a wedge between the two of them. Cardos is angry at Sybil for not believing in the meaning of his work. However, Cardos now regrets not coming sooner. Something here in Silverfair reflects those fleeting visions they saw together in the storm.

Name - Benagol
Race - Human variant
Class - Fighter
Connection to Sybil - Benagol is actually from Silverfair, he left years ago for military levy and learned many fighting skills. But then he received a letter from his frined Sybil and left everything in a hurry to get back to his native place to find out what is afoot.
IN his youth Benagol was a rascal (I will put stealth) so in the end he had to choose between guard/thief and he chose the first, at least the army provided a steady income...

POST RATE: reliable, at least one post per day. I'd really like to join because it is difficult to find an adventure no starting from lvl1 and, since the group is currently involved, there is less risk the adventure will finish soon , as in many pbp: I am tired of it.

Sybil connection/backstory excerpt
Khufuruh is an owlfolk, who after leaving his nest in the Feywild, made his way to a military academy in the Material Plane. After training there for a time to become a competent strategist, he wandered through the world working for various mercenary companies and armies as a low-grade tactician, becoming reasonably well known for his skill at small-scale troop movement. He didn't make too much gold, but after a while he had enough to try a short vacation from the constant movement and struggle of his usual lifestyle, and came to Silverfair to reconnect with Sybil, who he had fought with before.
