“Excuse me, a moment please”, he says to Mr Strassor before leaning in close to the group beside him. “I too have received a letter from Aila, mind if we all talk a bit more later when I’m not in such important company?”, Arlen says quietly so his companion does not hear.
"hmm the plot thinkens" I chuckle "sure friend grab a seat when you can, I believe we all will be closely tied in this venture. I am Zook a pleasure to meet you".
Strassor comes over with his drink. "If you fine gents wouldn't mind, I'd like to sit in on this conversation awhile." He tips an flamboyant hat in each of your direction. "I am Mare Strassor," he glances around the tavern before adding, "I've had dealings with the Shadow Grove in the past."
Arlen almost falls off his stool in surprise. He sits up with genuine interest in Mr Strassor before taking his own stool and drink over to the group, nodding his head in greeting at each of the individuals before also introducing himself. “My name is Arlen, pleasure to meet you all as well”.
"Pleasures, greetings, salutations, and pontifications. It's good to meet you all even if on strange circumstances, My name is Halidor, yes that Halidor, I ride the river that bears my namesake." He says all of this with a matter of fact air, like he's introducing himself, but bragging
I turn towards Stressor "I thought the Shadow grove was just a myth, one made to scare novice thief's and thugs. You've actually made contact with such a group?"
(Halidor like like my profile pic) Halidor shakes his head "So, if they aren't a myth, then I'm also guessing our gathering here to be non-coincidental, is this Aila dangerous? I have a village to protect and don't want their ire if I were to embarrass them by turning down the job... Though I do admit I could use the coin." Halidor taps the side of a brass horn he keeps on his belt for signals on the water, drumming out a discordant tune in the tinny clanks it makes. "Anyone else suddenly nervous?"
Strassor downs the last of his drink and smiles. "I've dealt with the Shadow Grove thrice in the last seven years, one of those times being through Aila. She's dangerous in the sense that she has money. But she's not one to go after you if you decline her offers. She pays well and is understanding in some aspects. However, I will say most of the work she offers leans toward the dangerous kind. You all look capable, but you'll probably be getting your weapons dirty if you agree."
Arlen crosses his arms, a worried look on his face. "If we do take this job, will we be indefinitely tied to her and her organisation or are we able to slip back into the shadows?". He asks, turning to Strassor.
In response to Arlen, Strassor says, "No ties at all. They may ask you to do more work in the future, but you won't be a member of the Shadow Grove unless you..." He stops to think for a moment. "Actually, I don't know what you have to do to become a member. One hundred platinum says it's not easy."
Strassor lifts his empty tankard toward the young man along with a gold coin. He says "A round for everyone at the table." The boy takes it in awe and rushes to the back before returning with a mountain of tankards, all full and foaming.
Strassor brings his new drink to his lips before saying, "I would agree. The Shadow Grove likes to be as vague as possible before the actual dealings take place."
Preoccupied with my drink until this point "well if everyone here is willing and able I would like to propose that we all come together as a company. Surely that would be the most effective way to guard our backs and line our pockets with coin." I gesture towards Strassor "we have the best chance of survival by sticking together"
"Sure!" Halidor says feeling confident the others he's talked to will agree

HALIDOR -
Strassor raises an eyebrow and rubs his chin, looking perplexed and impressed at the same time.
I turn towards Stressor "I thought the Shadow grove was just a myth, one made to scare novice thief's and thugs. You've actually made contact with such a group?"
Strassor takes off his hat and sets it on the table. "That I have, and believe me, I too thought it a tall tale before I came face to face with Aila."
(What Strassor looks like)

Hedrak
The half-orc had remained silent up until then - "Do we know exactly what is expected from us, if accepting the job?"
[ooc]Sorry guys, is the forum not updating for me, or are we in an hiatus? :D[/ooc]
"I think we won't have details till we go meet" Halidor says looking at the note in his hands
[OOC]: yeah I’m not sure what’s happening either
