Durnham nods. “Let’s do it. We can still try to climb over and see what’s on the other side before deciding if we want to brave the cold of the water. Either way, it’ll be easier if we appease the creature before entering it’s domain.”
“We can have Ressys warn the creature when we throw the food and when we are going to pass.” He said to Brandon, considering the Warlock question. It was a more than fair point. “What worries me is if it would accept the zombies and how much we would need for it to think it has enough to let us pass and get back. I mean, if it takes the undead as rotten food and gets offended it can become more aggressive towards us. If it considers the offering as payment only for a single trip, it may ambush us on the way home.”
And if they had the cure for Frigid Woe by them, such ambush could result on them losing the thing on the water. The image of a last glass vial breaking on this subterranean lake of sorts came to mind. Not the best thing to imagine, he admitted with the voice of his mind.
“Count me on. I just hope I don’t bring a pile of loose rubbish down while pulling the guys on the last room.” Kotar asked following the others back to the start of the hallway. And to think that the bodies they almost burned could be that useful. “How far back we go?”
Never accustomed to hard work and feats of strength, he used his sharp thinking and quick words to talk his way into a junior officer position shortly after arriving at Bladegarden, Brandon nevertheless follows the others and does his best to pitch in and recover and move the bodies. Dragging them back to the water despite his small build.
Kotar and Brandon set about trying to free the crushed preserved bodies, while their team mates provide support through magic and encouragement. It is a hard slog, as some of the masonry pieces pinning the bodies are heavy, bulky or both.
Nevertheless, they persist and after an hour of effort that leaves them hot from the exertion, the bodies lie piled at the water's edge.
The stones were covered on ice and slippery. Their forms jagged and for from offering anything remotely close to offer a good holding spot. Just like that the heavy work had became more precise and difficult for the goliath. Fortunately, Brandon, Durnham and Ressys offered their help and they managed to unbury the dead, now offerings to… Whatever lived in the watery depts of the lake.
“Now we warn the creature that food is coming and wait for it to let us pass.” He said finishing the pilling of the corpses. The entirety of the work made his body’s temperature raise as if he had just done battle. Even with his cold resistance it was a welcome feeling. “That said, will you guys be fine with the temperature?” Kotat believed he would be fine, but he knew that having his friends on hypothermia was a likely and everything else but desirable. “Maybe I can cross first with some rope. Tie the thing over the water.” Did they even have enough rope for that? Outside of battle I am better leaving the plans to Durnham and Ressys. He admitted with the voice of his mind, turning to the druid. It was his magic that would reach the aquatic beast. Should be fine.
Brandon looks at the murky water with suspicion. “That is a great plan, Kotar. Secure a rope on both sides and we can cross above the water, hopefully without all of us having to get wet. And it will keep us a little farther from whatever we are feeding. I have a rope we can use.” Brandon rummages through his pack for his rope and starts to uncoil it, preparing it in case it is used.
He looks at the others. “Should we just dump the bodies in?”
Durnham sits after helping to drag the bodies back to the room. He rests a moment and catches his breath. “I hope that creature gets its full with these bodies.” As the others start discussing crossing the water he adds in “No I don’t think the cold would agree with me. Hopefully we can manage this without getting too soaked. Are we not going to climb the shelves first and use the shorter route oveee the water on that side?”
"When we are ready I will let the creature know. If we can, we will try and climb past and not go through the water. The rope is an excellent idea though I do not have any of my own. I can grant Guidance to each as we try to make it across, hopefully it will be enough."
As the party made their plans and indicated they were ready Ressys once again cast his spell to Speak with Animals as a ritual and then spoke to the creature in the water.
"We are ready to pass. We have brought an offering of food for you. We will do our best to keep out of the water and disturb you as little as we can. Will you honor your agreement to allow us to pass unmolested in exchange for the food?"
He tries to judge the honesty of the creature and his persuasion

If the creature agrees and Ressys deems it safe when the rope is ready and Kotar is ready he speaks again to the creature.
"We will dump the food in the water now, and we will begin our passage."
Ressys will touch each person as they attempt the crossing granting them Guidance
“Time to ring the dinner bell then”Brandon waits until Ressys finishes his ritual and the strange, guttural noises, then begins to push the bodies into the water. “I hope they like old meat.”
He stays near the edge of the water, watching the murky depths, ready to defend Kotar as he crosses if the creature decides that the offering is not enough.
The bodies slide into the water, disappearing into the cold darkness beneath. Suddenly, a lash of movement shows that the offering has been accepted as a tentacle arcs just below the surface.
Ressys communes with the creature and hears it reply "This will suffice"
He considers the response genuine, and so the party begin to climb across the bookshelves to the gap in the far wall.

Brandon watches as Kotar makes his way across. Once the rope is secure on both sides, he hooks his leg over the rope and uses both hands to pull himself across, crawling along the rope and keeping one eye on the water below. Acrobatics: 16 plus Guidance 3.

Durnham attempts to climb over the bookshelves carefully. Using whatever he can find to brace himself. He gently moves along trying to use whatever grace he has yo avoid falling.
Kotar and Brandon make their way across the bookshelves with moderate ease, although Kotar grabs a loose shelf at one point and has to quickly recover in order to stop falling into the water.
Durnham goes third and, halfway across, a stack of ancient yellowed manuals collapses under him just as he places his weight upon it. For a moment it looks to everyone as if the young dwarf will fall to the water, but some kind of inspiration seems to drive him to shift his balance and leap to another stack with impressive speed.
Soon all three are perched on the small patch of land by the collapsed wall, ready to climb around the opening to reach the shore and then move on to the next collapsed wall (see map in post #1406)
Ressys still stands on the east bank waiting to climb across.

Following the others he offers Guidance to Kotar before he attempts to remove the bodies from beneath the rubble.

He'll then help carry or drag any other dead bodies they can find.
