It's darker over here than I first realized... Herrena thought to herself as they slowly made their way deeper into the cave. When the tentacles suddenly dropped from the ceiling and attacked Katrin, Herrena was already in the process of drawing her swords, ready for the next fight.
Herrena Perception from earlier (if still needed w/ disadvantage): 20 (NAT 20)/ 9
Nevara had followed along with the party's decision and curiously eyed the cave as they traversed it as best as she could. Her head ached as the poison coursed through her veins, but she tried her best to push it out as they moved. Eventually, the dizziness faded.
I'm surprised by something. I'm not sure what. It catches me off guard, and my tall form staggers, trying to remove it. It's hard to breathe. Something has me.

The creature continues to wrap around Katrin's skull, tentacles constricting and suffocating. An inky substance floods the surrounding area, making sight difficult as you attempt to traverse the passageway. This is considered magical darkness; any who rely on sight will suffer disadvantage on weapon attacks against the unseen enemy.
It'll also be a DC 13 Strength (Athletics) check to rip the darn thing off, if that's what you choose to do.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Erbert sends Hoppy to fly around the sides of this thing at a 20-25 foot distance to get a look at what the heck it is, perhaps there is a opening in the inky substance that he can see through.
Meanwhile, Erbert lets loose with a fire bolt at the body of the creature, as well as he can see.

Katrin manages to blindly fight through the darkness and sink her axe into the mass of writhing tentacles clinging to her head! The axe sinks into a creature as the darkness flickers. It lets out an aberrant shriek and gurgle as it reevaluates its tactic. ??? - Concentration check: 15 - the Darkness maintains, but a momentary flicker grants you the vision of a small, squid-like creature with eight tentacles ending in barbs shriek as eight, yellow, glowing eyes pierce the momentary vision before the darkness once again looms...

Herrena had to choose the right moment to strike. First of all, it was bloody dark! Even for her, the darkness surrounding the party was oppressive and it forced her to rely on her other senses over her sight. Secondly, she had to worry about Katrin. In normal situations, she'd have no issue dancing around the woman and finding the right way to strike the creature grappling her. But with this darkness... she'd have to be careful. When she heard Katrin's voice softly in the blackness, she pounced. Relying on her hearing, she streaked forward and stabbed ahead with her blade; piercing the creature's side and feeling it shrivel and fall to the ground, dead.
Action: Attack (w/ disadvantage) - Hit 25/17 | Damage 5
Iver was prepared to attack the creature, but there was no point in that. Before he could do anything, a flurry of hits hit the creature and took it out. He knew, for the darkness that engulfed him didn't matter at all.
Something else catches his interest, though. "Say, weren't we supposed to kill slimes? So far, we've only encountered one. Flinn didn't mention anything else. Don't you find it weird?" Not that it was bad. He was glad to have something to do, especially if it had something to do with swinging swords. Just... strange.
Herrana's blade carves through the creature as it feebly attempts to jettison its way from the cave! With a defeated, gurgling warble, the creature struggles to flail its muscles through the air before realizing half of its body has been bisected away. The eight eyes bulge as it loses the ability to fly and falls down into the chasm - for good.
The darkness fades from your eyes as the creature dies. Taking a moment to blink and adjust your senses to the minor amount of light filtering through the cave, the party manages to fumble their way across the small ridge providing access to Area A4 at long last!
AREA A4 This rather large, rocky outcropping jutting from the side of the cave seems to be some alchemist's laboratory. A half-dozen lamps full with glowing, yellow fireflies illuminates a series of wooden benches and tables where lichen, moss, herbs, and all sorts of chemicals stand in haphazard glass jars. Bubbling in a vat over a small fire is a noxious-smelling, purple, jelly-like substance - altogether, a strange laboratory built in the heights of a cave, illuminated with orange light. Across the room is yet another tiny passageway with a wooden door across another rocky chasm.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Erbert quits drawing the tentacled creature and slaps his journal shut. As they walk up to A4, he sees the laboratory and his eyes go wide. With great difficulty he resists the urge to just walk right up to it. He looks for any sign of movement or the owner of said laboratory.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Nevara was much more familiar with laboratories than she was with slimes or whatever that other thing was. Still, it was only familiarity for the eyes as she never had the chance to study such things.
"Does anyone here have experience with this kind of setup?" She asked, motioning to the various liquids being cooked.
Iver opens his eyes - he doesn't really need to see, but it doesn't truly matter. "Hmm... I have a guess. Two of them, actually. This thing reminds me of the jelly thing we fought outside the cave. The first option is that someone is cooking a piece of it. I've no idea why. The second option is that someone is making them, and this is where they do it. Makes sense if you ask me, how else would such creatures appear out if nowhere?"
