"Alright so it's a rat problem. Could be worse I guess. Maybe you should hire someone to get rid of said rats. It's only going to get worse if you leave it."
"In the stories I've read, adventurers like to kill rats when there is treasure beyond the rats. Or at least payment from a grateful benefactor. There isn't a lot of glory in killing rats," offers Marva.

Landrae chuckles at the end of Patti's explanation, "A rat tail of true danger there... We do have other places to visit. Perhaps we could come back here later, after we have visited the other merchant's holding Gundren's items. I'm sure that you could find someone willing to clear the rats out before the story of how 'Patti's general store takes money in advance, then provides gnawed on goods from a rat infested storeroom' spreads too widely."

Patti lets out an angry huff and crosses his arms. "Fine. I would humbly request each of your adventuring services," he looks pointedly at Landrae, "and silence on any rumors concerning my storehouse."

"I'll give your party a payment of 14gp for clearing out my storehouse of all the rats!"
Mio is not happy about the reward money going down to 8. Normally she would have asked for more but since this isn't the main mission she's on, she lets it go. She suggests to the party, "Maybe someone heavily armored and with a preference for melee combat should open the door while the lighter armored of us with ranged capabilities stick back and lay down supporting fire."
With that, like the sniper she claims to be, moves away from the shed while also making sure she has a clear shot at the door. She draws an arrow as she Readies to shoot the first rat she sees as soon as the door is opened by someone.
“I think the size of the rats may tell us if 8 gold is a fair deal. In any case, just think how all of this is strengthening our business relationship, right? If you all have my back, I’ll lead the charge. We had some real monsters in the library on occasion.” Marva casts Light on her mace and approaches the storehouse door. She listens carefully to try to get any sense of activity. (Perception 18) Then if everyone seems ready, she awkwardly fumbles with her shield, mace, and the key to try to unlock the door.

Landrae wiggles her fingers and loosens her shoulders as she draws her dagger. "Best put those new arrows to good use Mio! See if you can pin one by it's tail for questioning!" She winks as Mio readies her bow.
Bardic Inspiration on Mio - add 1d6 to an ability check, attack roll, or save of your choice within the next 10 minutes.
As Marva put an ear to the door, she can hear the light scamper of numerous tiny feet across the floor of the storehouse followed by squeaking. She begins to place the iron key into the lock and with a twist, it makes a loud, "CLICK!".
The noises Marva heard from the storehouse go silent.
She opens both doors wide and is able to jump back into a fighting stance ready for whatever comes next.
Only nothing was there.
Then, a single gaunt-looking rat cautiously emerges from the shadows. Its pinkish-red eyes look around curiously at the new light until finally settling its sight on the party. Suddenly, it lets out a horrendous squeaking scream, joined by a chorus of others from the darkness. Red eyes began to swarm as nearly twenty, no fifty!, starved rat swarms pour from the storehouse!
Sir Seigfryk Sonder, makes his entrance from around the alley's corner from the bazaar, 40ft from the storehouse.
The muted clinking of armor and a voice is heard from around the corner: "Good ears Symon! The commotion in the alleyway is likely the rest of our party."
A moment later, a man with golden skin, a short trimmed beard, and dark brown hair rounds the bend to enter the alley. He wears a well kept suit of chainmail beneath red and white heraldry. There is a longsword hung at his hip in a simple scabbard, and a wooden shield on his back depicts a gray tower on a field of red and white. On his heels is a young, blonde, teenage boy wearing a chain shirt beneath similar colors, a short sword at his side.
The man in chainmail raises a hand in salutation and calls out, "Hi Ho, Comrades! I humbly apologize for my tardiness. I am Sir Seigfryk, of house Sonder!"He begins to stride closer to the group, but pauses when he senses the tension in the alleyway; something's not right. He sees the white dragonborn (Sildar said her name was Marva, right?) open the door to a building 40 feet from him. There was a brief pause, then a veritable torrent of vermin spilled over the threshold to attack. The human woman in black loosed an arrow into the swarm.
"Egads!" Seigfryk exclaims, "Stay back Symon! It appears danger has found us, but it shall not find us wanting!"
With that, Sir Seigfryk reaches for his weapon and shield, and prepares to join the fray.
Despite expecting trouble, Marva is startled by the pain of the attack. She curses as sudden anger wells up within her and a burst of radiance surrounds the rats. (Word of Radiance, DC13 Con save, damage 6)

Mio spares a quick glance at the knight that has suddenly appeared before shifting back to look at her target, er... targets. She quickly knocks a second arrow into her bow and launches it into the swarm, this time trying to deter them from hitting Marva more.

Landrae watches as the writhing tide of vermin pour out of the storehouse, and a well outfitted knight rounds the corner seemingly making his way towards the fray, "Patti, you should have bought a cat long before this!" She looks at the swarm running amok over Marva and in the most deadpan tone delivers, "Warrior rats! I'll bet they know ka-rat-e" before backing off away from the melee.
