Marva shakes off the rest of the exploded rat brains from her armor only to be replaced by a spray of blood and guts from the two rats she smashed with her mace as the swarm scurries pass.
The remaining rats begin to climb and bite Ruanathi, but his thick robes and wooden shield protect him from their nibbling.
Sir Seigfryk Sonder rushes forward and finishes the eight remaining rats with an single impressive slash of his longsword. (Rat Swarm#2 DEAD)
Mio goes over to try and collect the new arrows but like usual, she has a good aim but horrible arrow luck. Any arrow she fires becomes unusable. These ones seemed to have had their tips bent from hitting the ground too hard.
The shopkeeper halfling emerges from the nearby wooden crate he was cowering behind.
Patti: "Is-is-is it over?", he asks with a quiver, "Oh, Good! You killed them all!"
A wide golden tooth smile spreads across his face and hands Landrae a payment of 8gp. He then runs into the storehouse and quickly returns with the three long crates of mining supplies, a small crate of lanterns, and a small red oil barrel all neatly stacked on a hand-dolly.
"Here's Gundren's order. Thanks again for yer help," then he gives a sideways glance at Landrae, "and for each of yer silence, involving today's events."
Patti begins to scratch his chin. "Ya know, I may just get a cat.", he thinks outloud.
Still not entirely happy with being paid 8 GP for this job, Mio asks, "Since I used up two of my arrows to solve your rat problem, can you give me two arrows as a replacement?"
The rats dealt with, Seigfryk stows his armaments, approaches Patti, and waves Symon over.
"You are the shop-keep here, no?." Seigfryk holds out 7 gold coins before Patti, and addressing both Patti and his squire says, "We will need tents and rations for the journey to Phandalin. I believe this should cover the cost, and then some."

Patti's eyes seem to shine a bit brighter as Seigfryk drop 7 gp into his open palm.
"Why yes! Of course, of course... Sir Seigfryk was it, my lord?", he says as he quickly pockets the coins. "I'll show the young lad to the supplies. Just a moment." Pattienters the backdoor to his shop with the squire in tow.
He soon returns holding a stack of five rations with a brass lantern on top, followed by Squire Symon with two rolled up tents.
"Buy two tents, get this beatiful brass lantern for free!", he says with merchant's smile.
Whilst Patti disappears, Landrae flips 2gp to each of Mio and Marva, "It wasn't a particularly difficult way to earn some gold. Not the most pleasant but definitely not the worst way either."
She saunters over to the freshly arrived man in chain, and his less filled out squire, extending her hand in greeting she says "Thanks for the assist there Sir rat slayer, you do good work. My name is Landrae. Did I hear you say you are travelling to Phandalin? Is it pleasure, or business?"

Once the danger of rat bites has passed, Marva studies her snowflake amulet once more, her brow furrowed in thought. After a few seconds she gives a small nod and turns her attention to the newcomer. As she attempts to clean her mace and armor with a rag, she says, “Greetings, sir. Thank you for jumping into the fight against those fearsome beasts. My name is Marva Stormventendrian.” She then finds a crate to sit on and asks the group, “Does anyone have any bandages? I think those little devils did some damage.” She tries to clean her wounds a little. (If no one has a healer’s kit, she asks Patti if she can buy one for 4gp. “Discount for taking the brunt of those rats on your behalf.” Persuasion 12 )

Patti turns to Mio, "We came to an agreement on job and you've been paid. If you wish to purchase some more arrows, I sell them by the bundle." he stated flatly.
He looks over Marva's wounds and the blood pouring from them. "Oh, I can't stand to see a young lady, even one as powerful such as yourself, hurt and bleeding!"
Patti pulls out a healers kit and helps Marva with her wound, "Don't worry, me daughter would get into fights all the time. I learned how to clean and wrap cuts and bruises." He then pulls out a second healer's kit. "I'll give ya a good discount, 2gfor a fresh kit."
Sir Seigfryk nods his head approvingly at the supplies. "This certainly seems acceptable, shop-keep. You are a credit to your profession!" he says as he takes the rations and lantern from Patti.
He does not take Landrae's extended hand, but not wanting to seem rude, he turns to the party and performs a quick, practiced bow, saying, somberly "Sir Seigfryk Sonder, at your service."Then, loosening somewhat, he smiles and adds "or Sir Rat Slayer, if you prefer!"
"Like you all, I have been contracted by Gundren Rockseeker to deliver his supplies to Phandalin. I deeply mourn missing our meeting this morning. I seem to have overslept."

Marva thanks Patti for his assistance and hands him the 2gp. When Sir Seigfryk announces that he is working for Gundren as well, she studies him carefully. After the incident with the rats, she is glad to have another fighter, but she is a little wary of someone just walking up and claiming to be part of the crew. (Insight 17 )

Mio waves to the new knight informaly in response to the very formal bow and says, "Hi, I'm Mio. I'm a sniper for hire. Currently hired by Gundren along with the others here to make sure his cart reaches Phandalin in one piece."
Landrae lets out a peel of laughter at the knight's reason for being late on the rounds, she composes herself and performs a courtly curtsey to match his bow. "Well, Sir Siegfryk, it would appear you are at Gundren's service rather than ours, so welcome to the crew. Was it one beverage too many last night, or did your squire dare not disturb your beauty sleep?" She winks at him, "Ah, no matter either way. A real kinght eh... Perhaps you can regale me with tales of your valour whilst we make our way to the bakery. I am yet to find a male lead for our little adventure."
Rising from his bow, Seigfryk addresses everyone. "I assure you all, I am as good as my word. However, I know that it is a dangerous world, filled with scoundrels, so I offer this note to evidence the veracity of my intentions."
He pulls a note from a side pocket of his pack and offers it to anyone who wishes to examine it. It reads: "I'm not surprised you didn't make the meeting this morning. You looked absolutely haggard last night. Anyway, Gundren will pay 10gp for you to escort some supplies to Phandalin." and is signed "Sildar Hallwinter"

"Yes, to the bakery! When one loses track of time, it's best to assume one is late!"Seigfryk chuckles to himself and finishes stowing his supplies. He slings his pack over his shoulder and is ready to go.
Landrae looks at the dolly with Gundren's supplies on, walks over to it and suggests "Let's get this loaded up on the wagon then and be on our way." Looking for one of the others to help steer the goods.
After the good are loaded, Landrae takes the reigns and starts the team moving. "Surely, sir knight, you undertook some notable deed to obtain your title, or is it a hereditary position?" Landrae asks in a light conversational tone as they pull away from Patti's on the wagon.
