Tortimer: You get a good hold on the legs and yank the body free from the rubble, which settles into the now empty space.
Myles: You look over the body and would recognize it is some type of created automaton, as you can see gears and tubes on its interior where the chest plate has been cracked open. Just back from ring shaped divots in its wrists, you see forearm length sleeves of a garment. You would recognize its garb as something a servant would wear at the house of an aristocrat or successful merchant. It carries no weapons, bears no marks from battle.
Tortimer: Looking around, you see the front doors through which you all entered the house and the hall to the right that leads further in. You can tell by looking up that the debris scattered on the ground here and that fell on the automaton was likely a staircase that lead to the second floor here, but now has completely collapsed. However, you can see a door on either side of the second floor, so it's likely there might be another way up.
"Seems like a servant of some kind," Myles comments. "Wonder if it's the rubble that made it inactive now." He looks to the others and the owl. "You find anything?"
Satsuma thinks to herself, I bet I could climb up there even without stairs; but she lets the thought go in order to stick with the group. She peeks with Tortimer.
Tortimer: (It's about fourteen feet up to the balcony and another twelve to fourteen beyond that to the ceiling where chandeliers hang. Exceedingly spacious and befitting an expensive residence.) You can see part of the way down the hall. About ten feet in, you can see the edge of a door on the left, but apart from that, the hall is pitch black.
Sera responds back to Myles, "I see naught. However now that my beloved Polus is back perhaps he is able to see what we cannot."
Polus flies up and swoops around the second floor to have a look before coming back and perching himself on Tortimer's shoulder to have a look down the hall with him. During this time Sera is seeing and hearing through Polus's eyes and ears.
(OOC: I'd like to see what Polus may notice on the second floor and with his darkvision see down the hall Tortimer is looking down)
Sera: Polus flies up to the railing on the second floor and looks around. (I misspoke earlier, only one door up here to the right, above the path to the hall on the first floor) The balcony wraps around the whole of the entrance hall, save for the very front above the front doors. On the righthand side, there is a closed door. Where the staircase would have originally led, there are two windows that look out into a courtyard. Tremendously dark still even with darkvision, little specks of light from small glowing mushrooms allow Polus to make out the faint image of a fountain and several statues. When the owl returns to the ground floor onto Tortimer, the hall is far more clear. There is a door on the left with its door closed and a number of feet further in is a wall, but it looks as though the hall turns to the left. However, there appears to be more debris on the ground there.
"There doesn't seem to be much on the second floor unless you feel like looking out the windows. And do you see the door on the left down the hall? The hallway seems to continue a little further and turns left. Either then that there isn't much else to remark on it seems."
The side hall continues for about twenty feet before it turns to the left and faces a wall of rubble. It looks as though the walls, ceiling and floor may have been intentionally ripped apart and reassembled like this to prevent passage. You can peer through cracks in the wood and stone, but further up the hall this way proves to be far too dark to see. On the way to that dead end, there is a door left slightly ajar with a fair amount of light flickering in the crack.
Were Polus to look in the cracks in the rubble, the owl's darkvision would allow it to see 15ft deep, which would reveal nothing but more hallway (What are the owl's pronouns?). Do you all proceed through the door?
Tortimer: There is no reply but the creak of the door as you open it. Inside you find an immaculate dining table of heavy wood with a rich, red tablecloth and half of its place settings. The room is a dining room and has a few floor to ceiling windows on the left that offer a good view of the center courtyard with its fountain, statues and mushroom patches. Against the walls of the interior are other cabinets and chests of drawers, some of which look like they've been pulled out and emptied. In the back of the room, a fire crackles in a stone fireplace, warming and lighting the majority of the room. It also appears that there are several bedrolls on the ground near it.
"Oh my, what a wonderful looking dining room. Now I'm starting to realize I am simply famished. Does anybody have any food they may share?" Sera asks while she examines the dining room table.
Investigation Check: 26
(OOC: Sera is lifting the table cloth and picking up each piece of place settings while also looking a the finish of this table to determine its condition.)
Satsuma nods enthusiastically at Sera's question, grabbing a small lacquered box from her bag and presenting it to the wizard. "I hope you like it," she says, rummaging through her pack to find additional boxes for Myles, Tortimer and herself.

Sera: The potpourri fits nicely into small bag
Tortimer looks back around the room looking for any other doors. He then looks up to see what fell on this thing.

(OOC: How high up to the second floor?
Tortimer looks back and says "Possibly. We should keep moving." He stands and peeks into the hall.

Tortimer scratches at the owl with the tip of his claw as he watches. "Shall we move?"
"If there's nothing else here I guess so," Myles says, glancing over the automaton once more, then to the hallway.
"Sounds like the appropriate course of action."

(OOC: "He/Him" works for Polus. =D)
Sera attempts to direct the group, "Polus, come back here and watch my back. Which of you wants to open the door first?"
Tortimer walks up and pushes the door open.
"Hello?" He says as he cranes his neck through and looks.

"hmmmmm." Tortimer steps forward slowly looking at the fire, trying to see if it was lit recently or is burning low.
