Tortimer: (Can you give me an investigation check?)
Sera: The tablecloth is spotless, save for a few oil stains at the edges where someone might've spilled something delicious during a celebration. The wood underneath it has suffered a few scratches that you can see in the light, but none so deep that its removed the finish fully. There's a thin layer of dust on the plates and utensils, but a quick wipe with a cloth and they'd be good for eating off of and with right away. The chairs, most of which are tucked neatly under the table, have cushions that were nailed into their carved wooden frames, and the threads have begun to fray near where they're attached, but they're still in relatively good condition – however, you find that the stuffing has become quite soft, to the point where it's no longer supportive and the chairs would make for an unpleasant seat for any length of time. Though, still better than the floor.
Satsuma: The utensils and plates would be fine to eat off of if you chose to, assuming you wipe them of dust beforehand.
"Oh why thank you very much. This is greatly appreciated" Sera responds back to Satsuma accepting her rations with a gleeful smile plastered across her face.
Sera then goes to wipe the dust off the plates and utensils and comments, "Hmm, it seems this table hasn't been used for some time but the fire present would suggest otherwise."
After wiping her table set cleans she sits down on the chair, "Oof. Oh my this is a terribly uncomfortable chair. This might make better firewood instead."
"Polus, may you perch up at the window on the ceiling up there and tell me what you see" Sera commands Polus as she daintily consumes the rations.
(OOC: Polus will go up to the ceiling windows to look out of it and telepathically describe what he sees)
Myles follows the rest to the dining room. "Strange that there are bedrolls here," he murmurs, curiously glancing at the furniture and setting.
He shakes his head to Satsuma's offer of food, not particularly hungry and not wanting to adjust his mask to eat in front of them. However, he does look around for any remnants of food to see if anyone has been here recently.
Sera: There is a fountain in the courtyard, but it has run dry. It bears carvings. Around it are statues of people. They stand on decorative stones–a circle around the fountain. There is a door with a light straight out across from here. And another door off to the right. It's quiet, softly lit.
Myles: (Can you also throw me an Investigation check?)
Tortimer:You can tell that the fire was probably not lit recently. It bears a resemblance to the enchanted, forever-burning sconces at the front of the house. However, you do notice that there are bits of ash that seem out of place, as the burning doesn't seem to actually burn through the logs. It's likely someone burned something in there, but it's impossible to tell when they did it.
Sera, Myles, Tortimer: The three of you hear a tick-tick-tick and then a solid knock from the way you came. Behind you, the door is now shut tightly.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sera spins her head around and looks at the door that just shut, "What... was that?"
She quickly raises from her chair and struts across the room to examine the door.
Investigation Check: 20
(OOC: Sera is trying to see why the door locked. She'll jiggle the door knob, give it a few knocks, check the hinges, look closely at the door knob. She's freakin' out a little =P)

Worried about the strange ticks, he sees if Sera is able to open the door back open. If she doesn't, he looks around, alarmed, for other entrances/exits, and alert for any traps that may have been activated.
Sera, Myles, Tortimer: All of you investigate the door and find that it is firmly shut and seemingly locked in place. The door knob also now turns freely in place, rather than catching and opening the latch.
Myles: There appears to be no other change in the room apart from the door closing. However you do see that there is a door across from the fireplace that looks as though it would lead back into the hall that was cut off by debris.
Tortimer:The ceiling is decorated with nicely designed tin tiles, but apart from that, there seems to be nothing strange about the ceiling.
(Sorry Satsuma – didn't mean to leave you out, but your passive was just a touch too low for this one lol)
Tortimer: (Depends on what you're trying to do – if you're guessing at the magic, Arcana, but if you're just trying to pick at it...Sleight of Hand, probably?)
Sera:You finish your ritual and again feel like there's just an abundance of magic here. The fireplace, as expected, glows with evocation magic. A pitcher on the long table has a subtle shine that would seem to indicate conjuration magic. The door, while in and of itself not magical, has inner workings that clearly are. There's a complex locking mechanism with multiple sequences of artifice that all seem to trigger from a point or bolt on the other side of the door. You can see that there are at least three points of contact where the magical mechanism touches magic points in the wall that shimmer with conjuration magic. On the other side, off to the corner of the hall where the debris stands, you can make out a humanoid shape faintly through the walls, pacing back and forth. It looks to glow with evocation and conjuration magic.
Satsuma sits around a little bit while she waits for the others to try to figure out a clever way to get them out of the room. Finally she wonders aloud, "Maybe I should try just kicking down the door?"
Satsuma: (If you'd like to try, give me a flat Strength check – though, also, which door? The one that locked or the other one opposite the fireplace?)
As Sera finishes the Ritual she responds to Satsuma, "Well this door here might be a bit difficult. The door itself is not magical but the locking mechanism is and seems quite complex. If you are able to do so that would save me the need to dispel this magic."
Then she looks at the wall in the direction of the pacing figure, "However, I'm more concerned what I see past that wall. There seems to be a figure made of magic pacing over there."
"I can try picking the lock if needed," Myles suggested. He then walks over to the door across from the fireplace, carefully trying to open it in case there are any traps.
Tortimer: Try as you might, you're not sure what sort of magic is happening with the door apart from what Sera conveyed to you all.
Myles:The door across from the fireplace opens with little effort; the doorknob even smoothly turns to release the latch. It opens for you without anything unusual happening. Beyond it, you can see that the hall stretches five feet out from the door, confirming it's likely the same hall you couldn't pass through before. To the left and to the right, the hall continues out into darkness that the light from the fireplace cannot penetrate.
"Hmmmm, well it seems that when one door magically closes and locks another opens." He stands and rummages through his pack "I have torches, does anyone have lanterns?"

"Well. That's inconvenient." Tortimer stands as he looks at the door. He then glances upward to see if there is anything on the ceiling.

"Hmmmmm. It seems that there might be magic about." Tortimer says as he looks at the lock. He sticks the end of his claw in and fiddles with it.
)OOC: What should I roll?
Sera responds, "You are right Tortimer. As much as it pains me, let me perform the ritual again to shed some light on what forces are at play."
