Stitch looks up and states very clearly bored by the blah blah, “I am stitch.” In the most monotone sound you’ve ever heard, clearly indicating the most recent attack by skeletons was against us.
His eyes then quickly dart between the medal and Drego and he tries to sneak away to look at it.
"Yes, if we went back to where we fought the latest skeletons, then we could see if there was any trail back to where they came from." Robin comments with a glance to the small goblin. "Otherwise it seems our next step is to move to the Seekers." She narrows her eyes and then sighs. "I have already set that in motion, the seeker we aided earlier has said we are welcome to meet with an elder of her faith, and I hope to learn more from them. I can also see what aid they can bring to bear on this matter while there."
"I think the important word there is tried." Robin points out. I believe the Warlord here said they have not had anyone go missing, so I assume those attempts were not successful, thus I am not sure how much more use one of those locations would be over the more recent, and likely fresher, tracks near where we were attacked."
"My apologies for the confusion--the skeletons have succeeded in a few cases. They simply always try, and their level of success varies," the warlord explains. "The most recent attack, besides yours, was yesterday evening, at the northern edge of town."
The door opens to re-admit Lyrik back into the room. The warlord's husband is frowning worriedly. "I'm afraid I just received word that the Seeker temple has been surrounded by angry townsfolk," he says. "The guard I spoke with believes they intend to blockade it, and things will likely only grow worse from there."
(OOC: IC time check! It is currently evening, approximately thirty minutes to sunset.)
Robin frowns, glancing to the Warlord. "I thought you said a couple malcontents were all that were causing problems with the Seekers." She nods to the door. "This sounds like a lot more than just a couple of the more problematic villagers here." She looks to her companions. "We dare not let the path into the Seeker temple be blocked, or we may not get our help there in as timely of a fashion as we would like." She glances back to the Warlord. "Can you do anything to disperse these villagers?"
“hmmm, I would think it would be best for our investigation if we did not need impose ourselves again the villagers…” the dragon points out. “i have no doubt we could forcibly get through to and protect the seekers, but it would surely ruin future relations and interactions…”
Péiste Mór looks directly at the warlord, clearly expecting an official solution rather than the brute force of we newcomers.
“we could try to be gentle, yes? but mobs get ugly fast…”

The hand shoots out again with lightning speed and practiced ease, scooping the gobbo up and slinging him back into position on the ranger's back.
Without missing a beat, he continues the conversation 'Péiste Mór is right, I'm not much at talking people out of things they want to do - just not my strong suit. And we've already lost a lot of time on the northern attack site if we're looking for clues there.'
Case glances at the group, "We must needs talk to the leader of the Seekers. He may hold vital information for us. And our employer in this has already mentioned how vital their assistance could be. We should go to the temple, forcing our way through the blockade if necessary. I will speak to the crowd once we get through and before we enter the compound. I am sure the people will listen to a reasonable argument."

Karlach rubs his forehead, exhaustion briefly visible in every line of his face. "That was the impression I was under. The incident this afternoon may have polarized the situation. If that's the case, any official involvement on my part will absolutely destroy any chance of both bringing the town together and the Seekers having a home here. But I agree, forcing your way through would do little to endear yourselves to the people of the village either. If you wait until dark, slipping in the back will be far easier and less dangerous--the back door is far less obvious and may have slipped past the townsfolk's attention--especially since the ones outside the temple are likely those who haven't bothered to spend time in the temple."
Case nods after a brief consideration, then says, "Yes. Though slipping in the backside feels a bit criminal, it may result in the best effect. If that fails, we can always go around to the front side and just force our way in. Though, we should seek consent before breaching the entrance." His blank face scans the room for approval of his plan.

'Ahh, now you're talking my language. Back doors are indeed my specialty.' a nod to the armored cleric and a quick scan of the room to make sure no one else had another, better, plan.
“good thought, for sure,” the dragon says thoughtfully. “but does getting us inside solve the problem? if the scene turns violent then things will get ugly fast, with us inside, outside or on no side, no?”
“perhaps we come at this problem from both sides? our young friend Stitch there,” Péiste Mór says, indicating the young goblin with a tilt of their head, “can be quite persuasive when they are feeling loquacious…” The dragon throws Stitch a wink before continuing. “or if they are feeling shy, I have been known to have a go at using words on occasion, to some good effect.”
“my thinking is that a few of us could use subterfuge to gain entrance and access to the Seekers through the back passage, getting whatever information is helpful… and the rest could engage the crowd out front. not only will this keep them from paying attention to the back door but also may help calm the situation…”
Péiste Mór goes on to suggest a couple should accompany him to talk to the villagers for support and for a sign of strength. The dragon states he intends to try to engage with them verbally and explain this bold group has come from various lands to help end the terrible blight, at the behest of the Warlord, of course.
“i do think it wise you accompany us, even if you do not speak for the Seekers or against mob mentality. your calming presence and acknowledgement of our task will undoubtedly lend credence to my words even if you do little but stand there and show tacit approval of our goals, no?”
Péiste Mór continues by stating they will attempt to convince the crowd that we will seek out the cause and the end of the blight… and what and whoever may be the root cause of it. The cause she’ll be identified and eliminated!
“will be tricky, I think, yes? to engage their thirst of vengeance to get them on our side, but to then turn it aside from the Seekers…” Péiste Mór says, trying to wrap up the argument. “i will need all the help I can get, be it moral support, a silent air of a approval or even some guidance or aid if available… but I shall try to tell them that in the unlikely event the Seekers are the cause, we need to know before we destroy them or the blight could grow worse and irrevocable…”

"I think I should accompany those going inside." Robin mentions. "I already have spoken to the seeker we met, and asked for a meeting, so that may help us once we are inside."
Jax has been listening to all the talk with wide, not-quite-vacant eyes. He raises his hand, incongruously for the flow of conversation, and says "people listen to you if you are holding a skull. I can go get some bones from our last battle and bring them to the mob and show them what we mean to do to the rest of the skeletons, and the crops."A pause. "The bad crops."
Excited to be out of the office where he can’t even look at the shiny medal over there by the door. Stitch spurs Drego onwards towards somewhere away from the tempting object with a excited, “I am stitch.”
"Ok, ok, I'm going as fast as I can. Now remember when we get outside we need to try to move without being seen. LIke that time in the market when we played hide-and-get-lost with those halflings? Just like that but without the mage hand to trip them as they ran past us, ok?'
Karlach nods. "I can introduce you, use this as an official announcement that you are here on my behalf to address the issue. That should lend you a fair amount of credibility."
"I will see to the guard, and find a small group who can move through the crowd out of uniform and do what they can to keep violence from breaking out," Lyrik adds calmly.
"Seems like we have our plan then." Robin states with a nod. She pushes the braid of her red hair behind her shoulder as she turns and gives each of the others a shrewd look. "Watch yourself." She offers with a sigh. "I don't know any of you all that well, but I definitely think getting to know more about you would be a very good thing..." She gives a half-smile and then heads towards the door.
