Drego nods in agreement, wiping the last of breakfast from his mouth and hands before turning to Stitch to do the same. 'Agreed, and I'd feel better getting an early start before the locals get restless.'
Case abruptly stands up after sitting still and not moving all night. “I agree, if you each have absorbed your chemical sustenance through your talking holes, we can be on our way. “

What's the difference between a Wizard and a Sorcerer? Class.
Drego nods in agreement, wiping the last of breakfast from his mouth and hands before turning to Stitch to do the same. 'Agreed, and I'd feel better getting an early start before the locals get restless.'
Stitch tries futilely to keep Drego from cleaning his face to no avail. Eventually he gives up and pouts while his face his being cleaned of the remnants of breakfast. (Mostly some type of jam, strawberry if those exist).
He then waits until no one is looking at him and pulls the compass to look at it and follow the way it’s pointing. (I assume that will be towards the fields books mentioned.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Péiste Mór watches the epic battle between Drego and Stitch and slyly lends a "hand" with a little judicious use of Prestidigitation to clean the kid's face.
"To the fields we go," the dragon chimes in after it's already been decided. They continue riding in the backpack until they are out of the tavern and onto the streets and then climb out and rest upon Jax's shoulders and soaks up some sun. Once outside the town the dragon takes wing and glories in the feeling of flight for a while, doing some loops and barrel rolls and just generally having fun... But eventually get their head back into the game and do some scouting from up high to see what there is to see...
Perception: 8
(not looking for anything specific, just looking out for any people or things approaching us or out in the fields or whatever... But the dragon notices nothing, having way too much fun flying.)
Arriving at the fields, you all find them dry and barren. The dead plants have been stripped from the ground, which is a bleached gray. Black lines wind their way through the dirt, as if the corruption of Mabar is still spreading, still leaching away any life that might remain hidden in the dirt. Just being here, you feel unsettled, for the energy of the Endless Night is hostile to all life, including you (and yes, that includes the warforged). Though you suspect you would have to spend significantly more time here to actually have your energy begin to drain away, this place seems to hold a deeply malevolent presence nonetheless.
The compass's needle continues to point to the northeast, into the deepest swathe of blighted ground.
OOC: Okay, so here is what's going to happen. I would like you guys to pick one navigator, who can be Helped. That navigator will make a Wisdom (Survival) check to see how well you can follow the compass.
(Case raises his finger to his nose and holds it there, for no particular reason.)
Stitch gives the robot man a curious look wondering why he’s holding a finger to his nose. He tugs at Drego’s jacket and points to the strange behavior by the metal man.
"hmmmm, so which way does the compass read, young Stitch?" Péiste Mór asks, before noticing the boy so fascinated by the metal being. "no, no... whatever he finds up their isn't for sharing... now go on, point the way..."
((I think Stitch has as good a wisdom as any of us?))
Drego leans over the Goblin 'Don't worry about Case, he's just waiting for you to point us in the right direction. Now look carefully at the compass, it's not just a shiny, it's a tool to help us find what's making the plants sick. Which way does it tell us we should head?'
Wisdom(w/advantage from help): 17 (I meant survival. Whoops)
Stitch alternates looking between Case, Drego Robin and Péiste Mór wondering why they were all so interesting at the moment. Almost like they were waiting on something... oh right they’re waiting on me... Stitch turns his attention to the shiny object and turns slowly until he works out the direction the compass needle is pointing and once confident he’s narrowed it down will point dramatically too his nose (like Case is doing) and proclaim proudly, “I am Stitch” (by which he of course means ‘we need to go that-a-way’)
Case withdraws his finger from his nose, "I was instructed that when a job arises that requires a volunteer or member selected that I do not believe I would be good fit for, I should touch my nose. Sometimes accompanied with the words 'Not it.'. Though it's unclear when those words are a necessary part of the ritual." He shrugs and follows after the goblin, hoping the flighty creature is not leading them astray.

(I mean, if you don't have Survival prof it is essentially a straight Wis check lol. Good job, that passes!)
Just checking a thing: 68, 69, 35, 84, 17

You all set out on the journey via the compass. As you walk, you notice that signs of the blight grow more and more evident as you move, supporting the idea that you're going the right way. Trees and plants grow more and more withered, many of them in the process of turning to dust the deeper into the Mabaran territory you get.
The fourth hour into the trip, you are climbing a hill when suddenly four skeletons come racing over it from the other side, running directly at you with wild hisses!
