Jax takes a deep breath as he calms himself, pulling back just from the edge. He separates and sheathes his scimitars. "That went better than last time. Are there any more? Where did they come from?" He absentmindedly rubs at his injury.
Case steps on a skull, crushing it beneath his steel clad foot. Then he nudged around the broken bits. “I am confused. There are no snakes within, yet they were hissing.” He shrugs and adds, “Next time we should have one of us play dead, while the others withdraw, and then follow to where they drag the body. In the meantime, small goblin, what does the shiny thing say?”

The dragon lands and quickly collects a bunch of the bones and then flies over to Jax's shoulder and shoves them in his bag. "For later," they say. Then the dragon cozies up on the shoulder and hums a soft tune, almost a lullaby, while smoke drifts from his nostrils in accompaniment to the rhythm of the song.

"Well we are all standing, so shall we continue?" Robin says as she nods to the goblin. as they check the compass she considers why these undead were hissing... Arcana: 22 Guidance: 3 (Subtract 2 if religion instead.)
"mmmmm, I do believe the hiss is the sound of their souls being released to the winds of this plain, doomed to never find their true homes after being so... no, no... I joke," the dragon says lazily from upon Jax's shoulders. "I do believe it's just the soft breeze moving through the small gaps of their sinus cavities... much like when one puts a seashell to their ear..."
Case looks curiously at the dragon as he follows the goblin and compass, "Why would one put a seashell to their ear? Does it offer some sort of special protection?"

"it's not a thing that can be captured with words, I'm afraid..." Péiste Mór responds with as much sadness and sympathy as he can muster. "but perhaps... if you were to attach another's ears upon your head and then listen to some seashells for yourself... it truly is magical."
Robin: You think they were hissing because bodies magically animated by the pure negative energy of the Endless Night don't need to follow anatomical rules.
In all seriousness, Mabaran undead are channeling the pure malevolent energy of the Endless Night (another term for the plane of Mabar). So they operate a lot on the rules of what makes them scarier, and creepier, and more hostile to life. So it's probably a side effect of the dark energy used to raise them.
You all head out after the compass again. After perhaps twenty more minutes of walking, you see something on the horizon.
The squat building in the distance boasts the usual sturdy architecture of Karrnathi buildings, but the air around it seems darker, more foreboding. This isn’t helped by the fact that there’s a circle of dead trees, grass, and other plants reaching over a mile around it. As you approach the startlingly well-defined border of decay, you realize that even as you walk on the grass, it’s shriveling and turning to dust. Surely, if you don’t do something, this will be the fate of Teryk.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Péiste Mór takes to the air. "perhaps a look from above might prove informative," the dragon says before climbing high into the air before heading towards the building. Péiste Mór is looking to go high enough in the air that they'll not be notice by any... Then when above the building they will descend slowly and see what is to be seen...
Case sees the dragon flapping about rather erratically. "I believe he may be under some evil influence, let us proceed." He pulls out his mace and shield and strides forwards towards the building.

"He does that sometimes,"Jax says, keeping pace with Case in a direct route toward the building, no thought for sneaking or flanking. "I usually pretend not to see him. Helps his mood."
Robin smiles as her companions discuss the little dragon'. She stays behind Case and the others as they approach the building though, letting the more martial be in front.
Drego reaches down and scoops Stitch up, swinging him into position on his back 'Keep your eyes open here, I don't like the look of things here.' he whispers as he falls into place beside Robin, drawing his hand crossbow and holding it by his side.
((Rolls we’re for stealth and investigation so not sure why that would change my flight ability… but sure, I guess any walker who has bad stealth roll automatically enlists in Ministry of Weird Walks…*shrug*))
Stealthily or not, the dragon still approaches building from a high height. Descending only once right above the structure.
As PM grows closer, he sees that the walls are almost completely solid, with only a few slit windows at the front. There is a training yard in the back, which appears to connect to the outpost via a back door, and then of course there's the front door. He sees no sign of undead outside of the building.
As the rest of the group approach, they get to the front door and find it secured with a rusty, but still functional, lock.
(I figured a reasonable explanation for a flying creatures poor stealth was excess flapping. Also temporary clumsiness is a very common description for failed stealth checks.)
