Brikabrak raises the torch high over his head, about chest height for most of his companions, and peers into the room. "Is it that gunk on the altar?" he asks.
“I was just thinking if the sludge just divides up when hit with blades, fire might be a better way to deal with it. And if that’s the case we’ll probably want more than just the torches people brought along.”
(OOC - Sorry for the late reply Dndbeyond has been acting up)
Although you have not encountered them, Zal you believe the sludge the dwarves are talking about to be an ochre jelly.
Aelyn you notice a strange yellow sludge naturally sliding across the side of the blood-stained altar. It recoils back at the sight of the flame. As you notice this another sludge appears out of the crack in the floor and starts to slide towards you.

You are all up before the jellies so feel free to post your action now.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Look out." Aelyn shouts and recoils at the sight of the yellow sludges. With his deck of cards in one hand and Joslyns wand in the other he instinctively unleashes a beam of crackling green energy from the wand towards the closest sludge. Eldritch blast:19 Force damage:6 "Hey, thanks for the wand Joslyn." Aelyn says smiling while looking a bit surprised over what he just did. He then moves, if necessary, to keep a healthy 30´distance to the closest sludge.
(OOC: As Brikabrak carries the torch I guess Aelyn is carrying Joslyns wand for now. I also assume it has the +1 to attack rolls infusion. How far is it to the closest ooze?)
"At last! Ye damnable creatures, me hammer will smash ye to jelly!....er, I means, the only good kind of jelly is what I eats on me toast!... er, well, damn ye, die already!"
Skorli calls upon his divine magic (as a bonus action) and casts searing smite causing his hammer to glow with white-hot intensity. With that he rushes forward and attempts to smash the closest jelly with his warhammer. If the hit is successful, it will add fire damage.
Attack:17Damage: 9 bludgeoning + Smite damage6 fire damage + ignition of victim
(OOC Zalmanni, don't forget your bow is magical +1 now)
As Skorli rushes toward the closest jelly, Brikabrak will cast create bonfire under it. He sees that they stay away from the heat of his torch, so Brikabrak runs to intercept the second jelly and attempts to keep it at bay with the torch.
"Die, ooze, die!" he cries as he waves the torch in front of him in an arc.

Seeing that the others group have the fire situation well in hand, Zal hangs back, holding onto a lit torch to deal with any jellies that approach him, and scans the room for any other threats that might be there.
"Now might be a good time to check on that enchantment Skorli provided your bow with Zal. You have some good target practice right over there."Aelyns says to the half-elven ranger nodding in the direction of the yellow sludges.
“Edged weapons caused them the divide before, my arrow might cause them to divide further. Would you rather face 2 or 3 jellies? If any come near I’ll burn them with the torch.”
(OOC: I think Zal identified them as Ochre jellies and could perhaps know that you can safely fire arrows without splitting them?! No matter do as you wish.)
Zal looking around the room you do not see anything other than the two jellies. You recall they only split when being attacked by weapons that cut such as swords and axes.
Skorli you warhammer strikes down onto the closest jelly. As Brikibrak summons the fire the jelly moves out of its area.
(Wasn’t sure how much Zal knew about them since he had not faced them in person before so decided to only go off of what the dwarves relayed, thanks for the knowledge clarification)
Zal looses an arrow into the jelly closest to the group.

Aelyn fires another beam of crackling green energy from the wand towards the yellow sludge still fighting Skorli. Eldritch blast: 24 Force damage:13 "Looks like we will have to go hunting for the other one. Perhaps you would volunteer for bait?" Aelyn says to Skorli, smiling while keeping his distance to the yellow sludge.

Aelyn your blast of force hits the closest jelly as it slides towards you. You manage to get 30 feet back and are near the entrance to the room.

The closest jelly which is now on fire reaches out and takes a swipe at Skorli.
Attack: 15 Damage: 8 bludgeoning 3 acid
The furthest jelly slides into a crack in the wall and out of your vision.
Aelyn fires another beam of crackling green energy from the wand towards the yellow sludge still fighting Skorli.
Eldritch blast: 24 Force damage:13
"Looks like we will have to go hunting for the other one. Perhaps you would volunteer for bait?" Aelyn says to Skorli, smiling while keeping his distance to the yellow sludge.
Surprisingly nimble for a dwarf in heavy armor, Skorli dodges the jelly's attack, and calls on divine magic to cast toll the dead.
If the sludge fails a DC 14 Wisdom save, it takes 11 necrotic damage.
