"Thanks Aeneas, but I´ve found other accomodations." Val says plainly. "The deputy has been kind enough to inform us that the settlements that has been raided have all been obliterated by the attack. But more importantly, they all had a remnant of Giantic material stolen. According to the deputy the drake in the river is such a remnant. I wouldn´t be surprised if that flying ship soon will be coming for the that drake." Valeria explains to the newly arrived.
Rakhinchu gives Valeria a big grin as they ask nearly the same question at the same time. "Drakes aren't somehow related to Giants are they?" She asks the Deputy just as the rest of the party enters.
Once Aeneas settles into the chair, Rahkinchu steps over towards his legs and, leading with her forearm, roughly tries to dislodge his feet from the desk.
"Oops, how clumsy. " She says quietly. As she stands and straightens herself, she looks at the half-elf, her irritation evident. "Food would be welcome. Valeria and I will not need the lodgings."
She barely seems to register what Beatrix has said, focused as she is towards Aeneas.
"Drakes aren't directly related to Giants, no. They were once pets and war animals for them. Giants are the only ones large enough, and crazy enough, to try it, and they succeeded," The Deputy says, ignoring everyone that's just filtered in.
What is that strange orcish woman doing?thinks Aeneas. Is she having a seizure? That must hurt, whacking her forearm against my suit of platemail. Maybe we should get a healer to check out her brain and her arm?
He stands, and says, "Very well. I have slain a dragon or two in my day, but this is the first time I've been called upon to defend one. Shall we all go to the lake, or take watches? It seems our clever gnome friend may have some device that allows him to communicate over a distance."
(ooc how far is the drake lake from the glen and/or the Inn? Like at quick trot speed)

(OOC: About ten minutes. The lake is vast, however, in comparison to the town itself)
(OOC: But Aelric located the drake right? How close to the Riverdrake shore was it? Also, could Aelric take a night shift watching the lake while the rest of us catch some shut-eye?)
"Is there any value is scouting out some these other sites for information on who is attacking the settlements? We heard about one of the raids, near Neadle's Peak. Perhaps we watch the lake this evening and then in the daylight, head there to investigate? From what I can tell it sounds like giants reclaiming what was lost from them..."He says as he quietly standing toward the back of the room. "If we are up against a flying airship of giants we are going to need to be very careful how we approach this. Not to mention what they could be trying to accomplish with all of these items..."

Aeneas asks the deputy, "Were there any survivors of these raids? Do you know of any witnesses that could reveal additional information? Such as who was in the ship?"
"Nothing is left behind after the raids. The Giantic things are taken and nobody is left. No buildings intact." Rahkinchu replies to Aeneas' question.
She then pauses a moment in thought."It does seem like we could learn something investigating this other village that was attacked. I like the idea of going there in the morning."

Beatrix remembers that Giants usually didn’t have qualms about their magic and materials. As far as they were concerned, if you figured out a way to steal it, you had earned it, and that the Drake raids were a part of Giant’s War, a huge war between the humanoids and the Giants.
"Yes, sounds good." Val chimes in. "Now let´s get some rest. Aelric can watch over the drake tonight. I will have my rest just outside town. Are you coming Rahkinchu?" Val says, smiling as she turns to the half-orc and readying herself to leave for the glen.
Aeneas says, "Hate to be a bother, but how will you communicate with us during the night should your feathered friend alert you to trouble? Perhaps we should stick together?"
"Oh, he will find you, don´t worry. If you hear tapping on your window in the middle of the night you will know it´s time to let go of that mirror." Val says smirking at Aeneas.
(OOC: Val would really prefer resting in that glen. I´m not sure we will get to that though. ;-)
(OOC: Well, at least she will be on her home turf so to speak. :-) Sorry if Val inadvertently tricked Rahkinchu to her doom :-P Val is heading for that glen though, and Aelric is generally scouting the surroundings.)
"Absolutely I'm ready to go!" Rahkinchu says to Valeria. Looking very eager to head out.
She then turns to Aeneas, giving him a sharp look. "The real question is how YOU will communicate with us. I can also get you a message if the need arises." She immediately looks at the others in the group, thinking they would be more likely to be useful for such a thing.
Bryant looks carefully toward Rahkinchu and Valeria. "I understand the desire to be outside and away from these walls but I have to agree with Aeneas. Being outside the protection of the city seems dangerous with the current happenings. If you are insistent in this course then allow me to join you. I have no doubt that you can handle yourself if the need should arise but there is safety in numbers."
If they allow it he will follow them to the site keeping to himself and allowing them space. If they resist him at all he would not push it and will retire with the others to the Dine Inn.

Farewell.
"So the Drake is our best bet then as an avenue of investigation, and academically very interesting. Perhaps in the morning?"
She takes out her spellbook and scribbles a few notes about Gigantic artifacts and Drake pets.
(OOC may I roll a History or Arcana check for Giant lore or this this to outside my wheelhouse?)
