Yoë nods at Elyria's words. "We satyrs certainly do not want any more deaths. But we have little choice with the Eladrin attacking us! But I don't know what this head of the coven person is. Why would we want to fight them? That seems silly." She then continues in response to Flynt's questions. "I'm not really much up on history. Lady Leilatha though has been here for longer than I have been alive. She organized protection for us satyrs, fighting off both wild creatures as well as potential intruders. Most think she was a help to the people - no matter the truth of the matter."
Elyria nods as Yoë speaks. "Perhaps we can help to broke peace somehow but even if there are Eladrin who still view the satyrs as their enemies, maybe their lust for conquest dies with Lady Sylmare?" She says, with some hope in her voice. "I really think Eladrin like Sabynn would prefer peace to senseless war with the satyrs."
Flynt shrugs and says, "All I know is this. What ever is up in that mountain fortress is stronger than us at this time. It had a grip on Arelious that we almost could not break." Flynt stands up and leans onto the table with his fingers spread wide. His knuckles white with the strain. "Oh and on a side note. You know just a, little, " Oh by the way". There's a dragon." He delivers the quip in a deadpan tone. He dramatically pushes off from the table, then splays his arms out wide. Changing to an apologetic tone he continues, Of course I don't want either side to have to suffer more casualties! However, We know that Leilatha and Sylmare had to be working with what ever is up there. Regardless of what ever perceived good they did they were agents of chaos, Whatever was gaining from their existence just lost it's control over two kingdoms. That's not an easy loss to take. You don't just give that up. There will be retaliation. The window to prevent this is closing. We must spread the word. But if that voice in your head is making you feel the raiments will get us to that end then lets leave you immediately.
"I do not know that gaining the raiments will help one side or another in all of this," Rahkeshi says. "I seek them primarily to protect them, and see them restored. I imagine they'd be useful, but maybe not enough alone to give us power over an Archfey." She looks at Aurelius. "The rest of us caught a glimpse of that Eladrin near Leilatha's former stronghold - while you were off chasing the dragon." The half-orc says this last part with a slightly derisive tone, but continues in a serious voice. "You said it was some troll that changed into an Eladrin? And was acting in league with the dragon? It would seem the Archfey mother of these hags might already have a foothold, at least on one side of this battle. I can't imagine them just letting this go." She sighs a bit, "It doesn't mean we should leave the satyrs defenseless though. Is there a way we could use the information Aurelius gained to help?"
She then quickly adds, "As for history, I don't know much of how either Lady Sylmare or Lady Leilatha came to power. Though I understand they helped provide military leadership. Certainly Leilatha was praised for providing security to the satyrs."
"Oh, I know a bit of history,"Presxina interjects."Before Lady Sylmare arrived, the Eladrin had many different leaders of smaller villages and groups. They had a sort of council of leaders from each group that tried to provide for common direction. Though often their petty conflicts and differing ideas led to a lot of inaction. They were in constant conflict with others, and held hardly any of the territory that hey do now. In the year or so leading up to her first arrival in the area, there were a number of disappearances, premature deaths, and even some strange poisonings that had taken many of the leaders. It was a real crisis for the community and enemies were poised to take advantage. Sylmare showed up and quickly consolidated power. The new Eladrin military became a force to be reckoned with. It didn't take too many years before they were expanding. We even faced a few forays of those Eladrin out into the plains where we lived. Although they had little to gain from those territories and it was a bit far from the core of their lands."
"I know a little less of Leilatha. She came after Sylmare, but not too long after,"the harengon continues."But again, the satyrs faced enemies, including the Eladrin. And Leilatha helped organize the military strength needed to keep them at bay."
"It's an interesting thought about finding some mutually beneficial trade for the two," Presxina muses. "I don't know of anything off the top of my head. But perhaps we could find something."
The paladin ponders. "I hate to suggest separating our party again, but maybe Rahkeshi and Yoë could return to the satyrs and work on seeing if those magical wards could be restored, or else work on consolidating their defenses. There isn't enough time for me to teach you all the nuances of defending a fortress, but just do what you think I would do, you should be fine..." a subtle smile momentarily crosses his face, and is gone. "Elyria, as much as you would like to stay with your amoureuse, we might need you as we return to the Eladrin to try to convince them not to continue the war, and to warn them about the disguised troll among them. It is likely an agent of that archfey, as Rahkeshi observed."
Elyria blushes slightly as Aurelius speaks to her, briefly glancing over at Rahkeshi before answering. "I would like to stop this bloodshed if I can but I fear changing the minds of the Eladrin might be hard, and while I might be able to sneak back into Alvahollow I'm not sure I have the words to convince like you do Aurelius. I believe I will have the ear of Sabynn but I fear many of those in power might still be loyal to Lady Sylmare's ambitions. It will likely come down to who will replace Lady Sylmare, or maybe there will be a struggle to succeed her which will halt the aggression against the Satyrs."
"Perhaps we could convince Sabynn herself to seek the leadership of the clan, or perhaps she could tell us what sorts of enticements might induce them to seek peace with the satyrs. Or what sort of proof would convince her own people that Sylmare was a wicked hag. Or if we could somehow manage to reveal the troll from his disguise, that might startle them enough to consider our words more seriously."
"After our recent encounter with the Eladrin scouts I have the sense that even if they are convinced they were decieved by Lady Sylmare they would still view the Satyrs as their enemies, but I am certainly willing to give it a try Aurelius." Elyria answers.
"When we were just in Leilatha's fortress it was occupied by Eladrin, not satyrs,"Rahkeshi points out. "That troll turned Eladrin went in there. I fear we'd have to retake the fortress first if we hoped to replace the wards. And frankly, I have no idea how to do such a thing." She then glances at Elyria. "Didn't you have something that defeated those wards? Perhaps that could also help put them back. Though I don't know who would know how."
"As for Yoë and I going to meet with the satyrs, we certainly could, if only to make sure their defenses are sound and perhaps see if they have any insight into what the Eladrin want with them," she adds.
For her part, Yoë looks thrilled to head back with Rahkeshi. "Oh! We could meet some of my friends! And I'd introduce you to all the people in my village. They could set us on the right path of who to talk to in the other villages I'm sure."
"And what of me? I could perhaps travel with you Aurelius? I presume accompanying Elyria? And Flynt would be with us as well?" Presxina says. "I'm not sure of what use I would be, though. But I'm willing to help!"
Elyria seems reluctant to part ways with Rahkeshi again so soon after reuniting, but after hesitating a bit she continues."We can go together back to Alvahollow I suppose..."She says looking at Flynt, Aurelius and Presxina. "...with Lady Sylmare gone maybe they will not kill you on the spot for the insolence you showed her..."She continues, giving the paladin a wink and a quick smile. "...it will likely be hard to convince them to negotiate with the satyrs but I'm definitely willing to give it a try for the chance of saving innocent lives."
"Excellent! With tasks set , let's gather our gear and leave with in the hour." urges Flynt as he goes about procuring and securing his own belongings.
"I agree we should get going," Rahkeshi says, giving a momentary glance over to Elyria. "You really think they won't kill Aurelius?" she says, sounding disappointed. Though her grin soon gives away that she is jesting. "We will simply meet back here after? Should we set a time? It's going to take a couple of days for you to get there from here won't it?"
"Chances are we will have to communicate long before we meet again. Should things go sideways then this place will be our fall back point. As for you Prexina, it would probably be good for you to inform the Harengone about what is happening and then come back here. It would be good to have someone here to be able to pass messages along should any of us have to return separately and then leave." replies Flynt to Rahkeshi and Prexina.
Aurelius nods at the others' comments. "Very well then, we shall see if anything can be accomplished by speaking with the Eladrin. I would suggest we meet back here in five or six days. If we are not both here by the seventh day, then we will know something has gone wrong, and form a rescue mission."
Turning to Presxina, he says, "Your company would be most welcome, but our mission is dangerous. The safest course would be to do as Flynt suggests. You have nothing to prove to us, you have already done so much. However, if you choose to accompany us, I would not object."
Elyria simply nods in agreement with Flynt and Aurelius. "I will send Aelric if we have no other way to communicate." She adds to Presxina, ready to collect her gear and get going to Alvahollow.
Presxina considers Aurelius' words. "I'm not sure how my people might help. I would be happy to travel with you. If then there is something the harengon might do, I can return."
With decision made, preparations for travel are made. It's just over 2 days to return to Alvahollow, ss Elyria is able to recall from your past travels. Rahkeshi and Yoë's trip to the satyr should be much quicker.
With it still early on the day, you could still leave and get in a full day's travel.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Elyria readies herself for the journey to Alvahollow, then giving Rahkeshi a long hug. "Take care of yourself and Yoë now, we've had enough rescuings."She says with a wink and a smile to the half-orc, then looking to see if the others are ready to depart.
When they eventually are she would send Aelric ahead to scout, then taking point herself, assuming travel openly and in peace. Perception: 19 Aleric perception: 19
