Stormraider Keep (A M.E.T.A.L. Campaign)

Initiative Order: Darkling1, Aurelius, Elyria, Darkling2, Darkling3, Rahkeshi, Frost, Darkling Elder

The four Darklings have closed in on Aurelius and Elyria.  While you could get past them, two would likely get Opportunity Attacks on each of you if you go past.  Rahkeshi and Frost ran towards the stone arch and are about 50 ft. away from you.  The beginning of the arch is another 150 ft. away from them. (It's about 50 ft. more to the 'end' of the arch.)

One of the Darklings tries to attack Aurelius with its dagger.

(Attack: 16, Damage: 7 pierce + 5 necrotic)

(Aurelius is up followed by Elyria.)

"You keep these ones occupied Aurelius, I'll see to it that this deciever does not get away." Elyria says grimly and rushes after Frost and Rahkeshi, deftly dodging between the darklings.
Action to disengage or dodge, whichever is applicable, to get 35' closer to Frost and Rahkeshi. Then bonus action to cast Expeditious retreat to get another 70' closer to the portal, likely coming up between Frost and the portal. "I'll die before letting you have her." Elyria snarls at Frost, running purely on instinct and strong emotions now.

(CON Save vs Death Flash 17)

Aurelius' strikes cut through the Darkling that had attacked him. As it dies, an intense flash of light consumes it, the body turning to ash. Only its dagger falls to the ground.

(Elyria - make a CON save DC 10 before your turn or you are blinded.)

(Also note,  Dash allows you to move an extra 35 ft. for a total of 70 ft. standard plus dash. Still puts you beyond where Frost and Rahkeshi are at.)

Elyria Con Save: 22

She would still run for the portal though, nothing else matters.

(First - you need to choose between Dodge and Disengage.

Dodge gives attacks against you Disadvantage. Except you are blinded, so actually it goes from Advantage to normal.

Disengage means nobody gets an attack of opportunity against you.

Ok. So running while blind...  Make a Perception check to see how well you guess the direction you want. Then 3 DEX Saves to determine how well you deal with unseen trip hazards.  

I'm making up the last 'rules' ... but running while blind over unfamiliar terrain seems dangerous to me!)

Disengage then.

Could Aelric help out somehow, hooting when she is heading in the wrong direction. ;-)

(Aelric could come help but not this turn.  And the condition ends at the end of your turn.)

Elyria makes excellent progress across the stony ground, until at the last moment you trip and fall.  You are basically even with Frost and Rahkeshi, but are now prone.

Frost says to Rahkeshi, "Keep running for the bridge. The sprites there will help you."

Back near Aurelius, the two smaller Darklings try to attack him with their dagger.

(Rahkeshi up next. And the numbers posted are right.  I had to fix a typo in the formula and it caused the alert.)

"No, wait, Rahkeshi, what are you doing, don't leave me." Elyria shouts desperately even though she still is blinded, trying to get up again. She must get to that portal.

Rahkeshi pauses just long enough to cast Eldritch Blast back at one of the Darklings.

(Attack: 11, Damage: 1 force)

(Attack: 18, Damage: 9 force)

"You ok Elyria? Frost says we will be safe if we reach the bridge," Rahkeshi says. She then casts Expeditious Retreat and runs another 60 ft. forward.

"No, Rahkeshi, it's a trick, Frost, he's a servant of the evil queen of the Feywild, please, don't leave me." Elyria goes on, trying to follow the voice of Rahkeshi.

(Elyria can see now, since was no longer blinded at the end of her turn. )

Frost comes and stands over Elyria. "You had best just stay where you are elf. You know so little.  You think everything is about stupid Queens."  He raises his glaive, poised to strike. But the blow doesn't come. (Ready an Attack)

The Darkling Elder casts Darkness, which envelops the area around it and Aurelius. He then attacks with one of his scimitars.

(Attack: 14, Damage: 7 slash + 6 necrotic)

(Round 2 - Aurelius is up. Darkvision cannot see through the spell's darkness, so Attacks are at Disadvantage. Unless you have an alternative of course.)

(1 Darkling uninjured, 1 Darkling heavily wounded, Darkling Elder uninjured.)

Cursing the darkness, and Darklings in general, Aurelius flails about him with the flaming sword, hoping to hit the wounded darkling first, and if that one expires, hoping to hit one of the others.

First Attack: 15 Damage: 10 magical slashing + 2 fire damage

Second Attack: 19 Damage: 5 magical slashing + 7 fire damage

Both of Aurelius' swings fail to find a target in the darkness. 

(Elyria is up. Well, actually she is still prone. But it is her turn. Standing takes 1/2 your standard movement - 17 ft.) 

"No stay with me Rahkeshi." Elyria cries out desperately and scrambles to her feet again having regained her eyesight. She deftly dodges away from Frost and races Rahkeshi for the portal, trying to block her way through. She is fully prepared to take a blow from Frost to reveal  him as a traitor.

Dodge action, Movement + Dash due to expeditious retreat.

Frost brings down his glaive as soon as Elyria moves, then follows up with a second swipe. (Making Readied Attack from previous round.)  She then runs quickly towards Rahkeshi, giving Frost another swing of his glaive.  (Opportunity Attack)

(Attack: 20, Damage: 10 slash)

(Attack: 23, Damage: 13 slash)

(Opportunity Attack: 11, Damage: 10 slash)

Once on her feet Elyria starts to close the distance to Rahkeshi, roughly 10 ft. behind her now.

(Darklings next)

(A little out of order but since we have 2 separate battles going away the moment I'm doing all 3 Darklings at once.)

The Darklings continue to press the attack against Aurelius, seeming unhindered by the darkness. The smaller ones stabbing with their daggers, the larger slashing with two scimitars. 

(Dagger: 24, Damage: 4 pierce + 7 necrotic)

(Dagger: 22, Damage: 4 pierce + 8 necrotic)

(Scimitar: 19, Damage: 6 slash + 4 necrotic)

(Scimitar: 24, Damage: 6 slash + 9 necrotic)

(Rahkeshi WIS Save: 21)

Rahkeshi looks startled a moment, then panicked as she glances back to see Elyria, hurt from Frost's blows. "What happened? Elyria!"  She sounds panicked.

For a moment a strange look comes over Rahkeshi. She then recovers and moves toward Ellyria, touching a bead on her necklace then softly touching Elyria's face and casting Cure Wounds (Heal: 18 hp).

She then whispers to Elyria. "It's not just Frost. Something is telling me to go to the portal. I think we need to get there."

She tries to urge Elyria to come with her as she moves towards the stone arch again. (moves 20 ft closer to the arch going out over the canyon)

While trying to get to her feet Elyria takes two gashing wounds to her back from Frosts glaive.
Weakened by her wounds she stumbles a bit behind Rahkeshi. "Frost, he decieved us. Don't trust him. Try to break free of his control...my love."
