Valeria listens attentively to the stories of Sinver and Rahkinchu. She nods and laughs warmly at Rahkinchus mention of the wooden boxes but seems concerned when the half-orc mentions her past. "It almost seems the agency has been a family for you two then. I just joined recently, I was wandering and M.E.T.A.L offered me a purpose I guess." Val pauses briefly. "Aelric found a glen closeby where I intend to rest this night. I don´t know if you would like to join me there." Val says glancing at Rahkinchu.
Rahkinchu nods. "I guess METAL is kind of a family?" She sounds skeptical. "They are about the only folks I know really. But, I've not really been around too long. Just enough to run into Sinver here. And Beatrix once or twice."
She perks up at the mention of a glen to rest in. "Yes, I would like that! Even with you." It takes her a moment to catch herself, and she anxiously continues. "I mean, of COURSE you would be a great companion. I just... well... you know. It will be great."
Aeneas replies, "My dear Beatrix... may I call you Beatrix? I can guarantee you that if any of those chaps catches sight of something so unusual as a flying ship, they will come running to me to collect their money (after all, I made it clear that I have coin to spare). They will remember my name, and have a favorable impression of me, even if only as a buffoon. Can you say the same about the contacts you made? Also, I had fun, blew off some steam, and laughed a lot. Now, I'm relaxed and ready for battle. Did you accomplish any of that? Don't be so hasty to judge..."
"I´m aware my kind don´t treat your kind with the respect you deserve Rahkinchu." Val looks shyly at the half-orc. "I hope that will not come between us." She says smiling now. "I would very much appreciate the company of one that seems to enjoy the forests as much as I do."
”Obviously we operate with very different modus operandi, to coin a celestial phrase, but with you explanation I can see how your actions were effective. Well done. I would still suggest a different approach to the more upmarket establishment, but maybe Byron and I could go ahead and lay subtle groundwork for the arrival of a noted hero? If you are happy to play that role?” She looks to Bryant for confirmation.
The paladin barely resists the urge to scratch the rabbit-woman's head between her ears. "Gracious lady, I am happy to play whatever role is required for the situation. Why don't we see what the ambience of the new establishment is like, and take it from there." He grins, "Perhaps you should play the aristocrat, and I your lackey."
He continues to whistle softly, and you recognize the melody as "The Battle of Dunwood Forest".
"Well, I suppose you could say my kind do not show yours much kindness either." Rahkinchu speaks a bit slowly, as though she is carefully choosing her words. As she continues though her tone seems more natural. "But yea, I'd really rather be out in the forest at night. Not all cooped up! So I would definately not let... all that..." She waves her free hand in that air as she speaks. "... come between us."
"Good then." Valeria says smiling warmly, briefly placing a hand on Rahkinchus shoulder. She then turns to the gnome. "So Sinver, tell me about your metallic friend there." She says looking at the construct with a mix of curiosity and confusion.
"Ahh. Her name is Winke. I spent some time in R&D and they taught me all sorts of magical and engineering tricks. When I first started I was... lonely, especially after losing my family. So I took what they taught me, and made Winke as a companion. She's been with me ever since. There's been a few different upgrades I've made to her but in the end, she's Winke and I don't know what I'd do without her."
"I'm sure you always have company with you being a handler?" Sinver replies back to Valeria
"Well, most of the time it´s just Aelric here. He was my only true companion for some years after I left home. But I frequently call upon...my extended family you might say, normally residing in the feywilde. I will introduce you to them within long Sinver."Val says smiling as she thinks of her friends, probably wanting to come out to play soon. "Could it be here you think?"Val says as she looks around for the wooden box where the deputy could be found.
Rahkinchu examines the construct as Sinver speaks of it. But she stays quiet, mostly ignoring the thing as she has in the past.
She does seem to pay more attention at the mention of Valeria being a handler. "I've certainly noticed your owl." She says quietly. "Aelric is his name?"
She looks at the owl a moment, then realizes Valeria said something about the structure before them. "Umm, they all look so much the same to me. I suppose this might be the place."
"Yes, Aelric, you can pet him if you like." Val says smiling to Rahkinchu. "He likes some attention, and quite frankly I suspect he is a bit bored with it mostly just being the two of us."
"Ah! You like attention do you?" Rahkinchu says directly to Aelric as she slowly approaches. She switches her staff to her other hand and reaches out to gently pet the bird for a moment.
"I'll have to talk to him properly some time. I don't have that magic in mind at the moment." (i.e. spell not prepared)
She then tilts her head at Valeria. "You are able to speak directly with him." It's part question, part statement. "Are you always able to understand him directly? Or?" Rahkinchu's face lights up as she is filled with curiosity about this now.
Aelric clearly seems to enjoy the attention Rahkinchu gives him, and so does Val.
(OOC: Good question there. I guess it would be up to our DM to decide, but I was thinking Val and Aelric have at least basic communications via hooting and such, like a permanent speak with animals. :-)
Beatrix moves with the group towards the Dine Inn, gracefully opening the door, but just before heading inside she lays a hand on Aeneas, casting Enhance Ability (giving him advantage on Cha checks for the next hour). She steps inside and looks around to take in the venue, and to see if anyone looks preoccupied or upset.

(OOC - Seems reasonable you'd be able to train the animal over time to have signals and responses set up. I'm sure aided by spells at points but not needed any more. Ultimately up to the DM of course! Rahkinchu is more curious since she would have the spell abilities but not the Animal Handling skill to do the training part.)

(Yes, the Circle of Shepherds has a permanent speak with beasts ability, how you wish to communicate, however, is up to you. I assume with Aelric being something of a companion, you would already have trained him and befriended him)
(OOC: Sorry everyone, it’ll be a little while before I can continue, I have to write up descriptions for both the Deputies Office and the Dine Inn but it shouldn’t be too long)
The Dine Inn is a five story building with a lovely restaurant on the ground floor. Polished oak floors, fine dark cherry tables, and a large chandelier hanging from the ceiling is accentuated by the soft aroma of rich food, the gentle tones of the piano being played, and the sharp tinkling of silverware. In stark contrast to the tavern, everyone here seems very uptight and finely dressed. Pure white tablecloths cover portions of the tables and rugs lead up the stairs nearby. The receptionist, an elven woman in a suit, ask you;
“Hi, and welcome to Dine Inn. How may we make your day shining?”
@Oberon, Culuril, and Plucky
The deputies office has a sign hanging above it saying, well, deputies office. The building is a simple one-story building that appears to be made of all kinds of wood. The door creaks as you open it and step into the dimly lit receiving area. Surprisingly clean inside, there is a wooden bench in front of a small coffee table, flanked by two smaller chairs. There doesn’t appear to be anyone in right now but the sign behind the receptionist’s desk says;
"Yes, we understand each other, I have learned to interpret his hoots and gestures, my aunt taught me when I was younger." Val says to Rahkinchu smiling at first but you notice her face darkens a bit thinking of home.
"So we wait then I suppose."Val says to Sinver and Rahkinchu with a sigh and sits down on the bench, placing her carried equipment beside her, looking for the others to join her.
(OOC: Dang, totally forgot about the ability to speak with beasts. Thanks. Aelric would be trained to be able to perform simple scouting missions if that´s ok. He would never enter combat if he can help it.)

Beatrix steps in and loudly states "Good evening my lady, my name is Beatrix, and agent of METAL along with my companion (she gesture to Bryant if he has entered) if you know the organisation. I am here at the behest of the great conqueror Aeneas Northstar, perhaps you have heard of him, Warlord and Champion of the People. We come seeking food, shelter and if you would kindly oblige, information. We seek to end the raids that have cause such suffering locally."
