Grugga grabs one of the chains laying at the bottom of the canoe after hastily freeing Malia. "Duck!" He begins winding it up overhead until it makes the air howl, then he takes a step forward to the space in between the canoes and lets the chain fly, lashing out at one of the hydras horrible heads.

"Good Eskil, keep hurling your magical fire, that seems to really annoy it." Aubrey says before swiftly reloading his crossbow, taking a quick aim and firing another bolt at the six-headed lizard. Light Crossbow:17 Damage:9 + crit damage4 He then takes cover, trying to hide Malia from the beast.

Rohuzar, your axe attack lands, but I'm going to need an athletics or acrobatics check DC 12 to keep your balance on the moving creature. There will likely be another, contested check next round as it tries to shake you off.

Rohuzar relies on core strength to try to balance on the back of the beast, but it is just too slick and slippery. After landing his attack, Rohuzar slides off and lands prone in the water on the far side of the beast.

Besieged and surrounded, the beast begins to back away, one of its heads eyeing the lobster carcass - the real one from the third cage trap - and it moves that way, only to bump into the boats. Aubrey winces as one of the lizard heads bites into his arm again. Almost fainting from the pain he clings to his crossbow, feebly reloading it and firing another bolt at the beast. Light crossbow:21 Damage:10 "Leelan, take us away from here!" Aubrey shouts, still trying to protect Malia.
Aubrey fires another bolt as the creature looms over him and Malia. The bolt flies square into the open mouth of one of the heads, which thrashes about furiously before falling limp at the beast's side. Down to three! Grugga, feeling good about his new improvised chain weapon - Perhaps this is his calling? The bards will sing songs about the artificer orc with the chain o' pain! - takes another swing. But this time the chain thuds into one of the already dead necks, to no effect.
Aubreycalls out to Leelan to pull them out from their precarious position right below the furious fangs of the monster. Before Leelan can react, the three surviving heads turn toward Guilim's boat and the open lake beyond. They bow slightly and the creature's body tenses in an arc... it is about to ram their boat to make a path to freedom. At just that moment, there is wet thunk sound accompanied by splintering bone. Rohuzar tears his axe free and raises it again, revealing the gaping wound he has torn in the back of the creatures torso. The creature rolls over in the bloody, foaming water, heads snapping and biting at one another in its death throes. With one last pump of its thick, crocodile-like tail, the creature goes still. It bobs on the surface of the water the purple glow of faerie fire slowly fading, leaving you in the dark but for the small lights from Grugga's masks. Overhead, the sound of the storm still rages and water continues to drip down from above.
We are out of initiative. Congratulations! The newest Red Band field team has just survived its first combat together.

For a moment, the gnome thought the situation looked dire. A lot of them had sustained severe injuries, himself included. He was preparing himself to move the boat as Aubrey had instructed. But as Rohuzar dealt the killing blow, a sense of relief washed over Leelan. Through the pain, he raised his fist high and smiled.
"Huzzah! Well done, my fearless companions. We have felled this ravenous creature.", he called out with joy.
He moved closer to the corpse with the intention of inspecting it.
