Leelan will stand back up and head back into the room. Once he’s in the doorway, he will attempt to locate the creature through any cue (visual, auditive or otherwise) he can find.
Leelanindeed picks up a rough idea of where the poltergeist is hiding, just in time to see Gruggaand Zip finish it off.
Once again there is a terrible groan, and the house shudders, fine dust drifting down from the ceiling. And once again, your senses blur and for a moment you all experience thoughts and emotions that are not your own.
I cannot see!
It's so hot! Why is it so hot?
I know they can hear me! Let me out! Why won't you let me out? I'm burning!

We are out of combat. For now, the house is quiet again. The spirits have not left behind any physical remains to search, and the dining room, sitting room, and pantry are in disarray.

Grugga shivers as the strange sensation momentarily overtakes his senses. "hrmph..." he touches a hand to his mouth then says, "I'm starting to really hate these supernatural creatures... yet... there was something so sad about these ghosts. They didn't leave anything behind to study,... drat." he looks at the mess all around him and says flatly. "Also, I don't think we'll be making money on this job..."
He turns to the monster expert and asks, "Leelan, did that... did we get rid of them? For good?"
As he realizes the ghosts have been dealt with somehow Aubrey walks back to the sitting room. "My apologies Rohuzar, it seemed a desperate situation and I only wanted to help, I will refrain from using my eldritch blasts in here until you tell me otherwise."He says with a polite smile, then turning to Grugga. "There seemed to be at least two of them right? I suppose there could be more. If we continue our investigation we might find some answers to what they were talking about."
"Something is strange here. 'Let me out,' they say. Do you think they vere trapped in life, or are they still trapped? Could be anything. Ve must continue the search. Does anyone need a breather first?"
(I am lightly injured and used only one spell slot)
Leelan takes a moment to catch his breath and to stretch after having been tossed around like a pinball. He then responds to Grugga.
"The spirits of the departed aren’t really my speciality, but from what I’ve heard, these creatures seem…confused, for lack of a better word."
He pushes his glasses back on his nose. "They said, ‘I’m burning’, right? Haven’t we been told that this estate once went up in flames? My working theory is that these spirits might be the spectres of the victims of the fire, lashing out in vengeance at intruders."
Leelan will then use a bit of magic to heighten his senses to the presence of more undead spirits.
(Using Primeval Awareness)
Beginning at 3rd level, you can use your action and expend one ranger spell slot to focus your awareness on the region around you. For 1 minute per level of the spell slot you expend, you can sense whether the following types of creatures are present within 1 mile of you (or within up to 6 miles if you are in your favored terrain): aberrations, celestials, dragons, elementals, fey, fiends, and undead. This feature doesn’t reveal the creatures’ location or number.
"Yes, I agree Leelan. Maybe people came here long ago to kill the ones living here, blocking the entrances and setting the place on fire. Will it help us to know what happened though? Could there be a way to put these spirits to rest if we somehow set things right?" Aubrey speculates.
Opening up your senses, you detect aberrations, dragons, elementals, fey, fiends, and undead all within 1 mile of your location. Of these, fiends, undead and aberrations are the closest, and dragons are the furthest away. Otherwise you just realize that there are lots and lots of these things in Bardstown.

"These spirits are different from those my people tend to deal with. It is a common belief our ancestors look over us but this is nothing like I have heard. These while suffering with sadness still are violent to say the least." Guilim says as he makes sure to stay out of the way of the others as he would rather not have anyone else flying at him.
The rest of the ground floor holds no surprises. The kitchen has several crates of dishes, pans and cooking implements, all still unpacked. There is another, larger washroom, and a small closet that has some older boxes and materials packed away. There is also the conservatory you saw from outside, which is accessed through the back of the kitchen.
As you finish clearing the downstairs, Aubreyreceives a visitor:
Furvus returns from upstairs. He reports he encountered the ethereal figure of a young woman. She claims to be a ghost; a daughter of the Umn family that once ruled here ages ago. She invites you all to come visit her in the guest bedroom upstairs, but to be cautious of the master bedroom as there are more hostile spirits in there.

Once he regains his composure, he starts helping out with the rest of the investigation.
"Furvus just reported there is a ghost, a daughter of the Umn family that once ruled here that has invited us to visit her in the guest room upstairs." Aubrey says to the others. "But we should be cautious of the master bedroom as there are more hostile spirits in there."
"It's a trap. I saw one of them in the mirror and it looked like how I've been picturing the sea hag this whole time." As the words pass his lips, he ponders a new meaning for them. "... exactly how I pictured it... hmmm... unless ghosts can make us see our fears." He shivers, but seems intellectually piqued. No matter how many times Leelan says ghosts aren't his specialty, he turns to the Gnome. "Can they do that, Leelan? ... Can they do that, Furvus?"
"It’s a massive world out there, my inquisitive friend.", says Leelan. "Filled with all sorts of oddities and curiosities. I would not be the least surprised that such a creature exists. It would make for fascinating chapter in my manuscript."
Furvus can indeed guide you to the proper door, as he scouted the upstairs. He notes the ethereal realm up there is also quite 'lived in', though perhaps not so much as the ground floor and game room.
