The Gish screams as green flames splash across her.  Seeing three injured warriors and one dead, not to mention the dragon... she spouts an order to her underlings that Kari understands, "FLEE!" 

One of them looks back at her, "NO. The children, we make a stand here."

The sound of their greatswords from their sheaths, the metal on metal, shniiiiiick.....and then they attack.  Two attack Kurik. 

Attack or Kurik: 18 Damage: 9 + 8 psychic damage.

Attack or Kurik: 11 Damage: 8 + 5 psychic damage.

Attack or Kurik: 20 Damage: 5 + 5 psychic damage.

Attack or Kurik: 16 Damage: 9 + 6 psychic damage.

While one attacks Zendrak who is in front of him....

The only threatening blow, the one against Zendrak, shanks off a shimmering glowing shield that rises in front of Zendrak.

Seeing the Gish still issuing orders, Mordekai will cast Hex (1st level) on her and unleash torrents of purple magic.

The three blasts of magic crack loudly as they streak across the room and strike the Gish three times, magic spraying off the woman as she stumbles....still smoking from the fire, and now barely standing.  She hisses, and in Gith says, "You'll learn to follow orders, fools...." ...  She pushes the door open just near her, and then vanishes.  She leaves behind only a glowing mote of fire in her place....which then explodes. 

DC 15 Dex Save everyone. 38 fire damage, save for half.

All three Gith are encompasses in flames along with the rest of you.  They each manage to keep standing but its clear they're badly injured as they screech in pain.  Zendrak has the fire wash across him, cursing at the heat.  The heavy curtains are scorched and smoking heavily, flames licking their edges. 

Mal, Zendrak, Kurik and Kari are all up.

Mal tries top roll out of the way of the flames but the fire still sears her backside.

Seething with rage as the one gith escapes she turns her attention on the remaining ones, bringing her crossbow up to fire.

Kurik stands before the two still standing Gith, his blade ready, about to strike, when two bolts woosh past him slamming into each of his charred, wounded opponents.  They both collapse.

Would Mordekai see any hint of spell casting before she vanishes, anything he might be able to counterspell?

Kari knows enough about fire attacks that she holds her breath until the flames are gone, ducking her head into her elbow for all the good that will do. Looking up in time to see the gish open the door and disappear, she moves that way and looks down the hall, hoping to see where it might have blinked off to.

With everyone seemingly dead, except the one fleeing, Kurik asks, "we pursue or we move.  Those are the only options right now."

Failed save with a 5.  Wrote it incase this adjusts.  Will use stone's endurance to reduce damage by 4

For Mordekai, hoping to counter the Gish's spells, unfortunately there is nothing, this Gith seems to be able to summon her power without word, motion, or mundane component, leaving Mordekai nothing to indicate the coming power, and no way to counter it. 

Kurik - there is still one Gith standing!

Kari meanwhile lunges forward, slamming the door open and seeing.....apparently a training cave.  This room is naturally shaped. There is an opening on the left side that splits and opens into two rooms, and on the far side of the room, on the right side, a worked ten foot wide passage leads away.  This room appears to be a training room.  There are straw dummies crafted to resemble mind flayers standing near the center of the chamber in a cluster, with enough room around them to do basic sword work. A large climbing apparatus made of black steel is mounted to one wall.  Gith inscriptions cover the remaining walls, scribbled in inks or chalks, though Kari has no idea what they say. 

More importantly than all of these details are the sound of the Gish's voice. She is rushing down the passage way on the far side yelling, "THE CRECHE IS UNDER ATTACK!!" 

She's 30 feet across this room, and then another 10 feet down the hallway away from Kari, and running. Kari growls and rushes across the room and after the woman, yelling back at her, "We don't care about the children, we are here to kill a lich. And we won't let you stop us!"

Kari sees this ten foot wide passage goes another forty feet, then takes a hard turn to the right.  This Gish doesn't appear to be stopping... (feel free to take your attack).

"God's blood!" Kari swears as she quickly attacks while the enemy is in range.

Attack: 31 Damage: 35 Slashing, 3 Rage

Slasher - reduce a creature's speed by 10 until the start of my next turn

Slasher - On a critical hit the target has disadvantage on all attacks until the start of my next turn.

Kari's glaive comes down on the back of the yelling fleeing Gith with a crash, sending the body flopping forward in a clattering heap and silencing her yells. 

Zendrak sweeps his blade out at the last Gith standing....Attack: 22 Damage: 17  but his blow slams off the Gith's half-plate armor, sending magical green flame splashing across the room. 

Kurik? 

Kurik gives a low irritated growl and moves up and swings at the remaining Gith.

Attack: 10 Damage: 13 + 4 fire

Attack: 23 Damage: 16 + 7 fire

Kurik's first swing goes wide as his foot rolls on a small rock, but he plants his heel well and his backswing catches the Gith and sends him to the ground in a heap.

Mal moves a bit closer to one wall opposite where the new Gith has entered the area and swings her crossbow to aim at the creature. "You should have stayed in your bunk."
