Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Life is very busy unfortunately, gone from most Pbp's indefinitely. If you'd like to contact me, I am on Discord at GreatAxeblade#7595, always happy to chat :)
As Ollezall continues to revel in the space provided by his expanded consciousness, Dyumi is able to shake off the effects of the gas and stroll out of the room.
Cerlinde hums a silly tune and dances around, giggling and muttering in draconic and sylvan. She uses prestidigitation to make a small show of sparking lights as she dances, and minor illusion for fey music.
(I think these faerie dragons would be just crushing it on TikTok. Way ahead of their time.)
Anyway, let's assume that's run it course. We'll see what Mohdrak did with this madness. Are folks wishing to head upstairs to continue the book hunt? Other ideas?

(Three's company, so I'll throw this out there for when the party makes its way up. Ollezall and Mohdrak, feel free to wrap up any rolls and RP in the dining room prior to respoding to this post.)
The party, after collecting themselves and gathering again in the hallway, make their way up the stairs to the upper level of the mansion. The landing at the top of the stairs is occupied by a suit of armor holding a greatsword, point down. It sits upon a wooden stand in front of a large window. Above the armor is a trapdoor that appears to open upward. There is a door along the west wall of the landing and another on the east wall, right at the top of the stairs.
Syd walks over to the suit of armor, and snorts. "Armor is for sissies..." but he is definitely interested in the greatsword. "Hey Ollie, is this thing magicky? Will it shoot out glowing green goo that will dissolve your eyeballs or something cool like that?" Syd will help Cerlinde to inspect the armor, the stand and the remainder of the landing for traps. Also clues (mainly by suggesting that she do so... pretty please).
Cerlinde inspects the armor, 25 investigation. “Careful- in this place I wouldn’t be surprisedif this armor was animated- make sure it doesn’t attack us.” Her earlier merriment seems to have mostly vanished, she is serious again- not certain what to expect (and nursing a bit of a hangover).
The armour is clearly decorative, though the helmet and the greatsword are genuine items of high quality. While the armour, sword, and helm are all adorned with intricate glyphs, each has a different pattern, as though the set was haphazardly assembled.
You do not detect the presence of any traps, tricks, or any other chicanery designed to pester interlopers.

Ollezall comes to his senses as the effects of the gas diminish. Ollezall's face begins to tighten once again, his brow settling in to a furrow. With a sigh Ollezall resumes the mantle of his responsibility and sets off after the group. To himself, Ollezall thinks *even in the hours of my sleep, rest alludes me; but rest does not come easy to those who carry the burden of knowledge*
Reaching the upper level Ollezall takes in the surroundings. Ollezall would like to examine the armor and trap door to work out their purpose. Ollezall will also try the door on the west wall to see if it is locked. Ollezall will choose not to open it just yet if it is unlocked.

" I'd be more worried about animated knives to be honest. Wickedly dexterous...."
Ollezall agrees with the assessments of Cerlinde and Syd regarding the armour. The trap door appears to be of a familiar design, opening upward into what is likely an attic. It is high enough that you can't quite reach it, but Syd or Mohdrak should have no trouble. The door on the west wall is unlocked.

Syd will attempt to remove the fancy new greatsword, and try it out. "I'm sure Fistandia won't mind 'loaning' this to me... clearly a wizard has no use for toys like this. Still waiting to hear about the goo-shooting, Ollie."
Syd is able to lift the sword without any difficulty, as expected. In the muted light of the landing, he can see that, while in his hand, the sword has begun to emit a very soft bluish light. Examining the sword more closely, Syd notes that two words seemed to be inscribed on the cross-guard, one on each side. While the writing is in the Dwarvish script, the language is not Orc.

A good thing too as the effect on the others begun to manifest immediately. He had always styled himself as a more serious competitor so the thought of all this whimsy had begun to grate on him. Fortunately it seemed it was time to move along anyway. The minotaur followed the group out of the dining room and into the upper level. The only thing of note were a trapdoor leading further up and a decorative suit of armour.
Mohdrak snorted at Syd's remark. A finely made suit of armour could keep you alive far better than swinging a sword around. Plus it was kind of hard to disarm someone out of their armour. He let the issue rest: those weapon nuts are impossible to reason with. He turned his attention to the suit. The helmet was nice but he doubted that it would fit him. Not without some refitting to account for his horns. He did lift it off the armour stand for a closer look. Those arcane glyphs tickled his fancy.
