Getting down on hands and knees, Syd will stick his hands in the fireplace and feel around. (Is there an opening at the back that can be entered? If so, he will crawl forward into it. Any levers, switches, loose bricks, etc?)
Syd certainly looks a bit odd as he appears to be purposely engulfing his body in live flames. However, it is a fruitful exercise as Syd has stumbled across something (that the DM just had to improvise). He uses his hand to probe where he would expect the back of the fireplace to be, usually made of stone or brick. Instead, Syd finds his fingers touching something that feels like a slightly thickened wall of gelatin. It feels slightly cold and damp, but he doesn't experience any other sensations, such as pain. It seems like it may give way if he applies too much pressure.
“Umm… Syd. The fire is illusionary, but you don’t have to swim in it to prove it doesn’t hurt. We believe you- there is a door over here..” Cerlinde looks at him with concern, But then moves to the door across the room that is ajar, and pushes it open all the way...
Cerlinde pushes open the door and sees an open and airy bedroom. A canopied bed with rich scarlet curtains occupies one corner. A jug and a washbasin stand on top of a chest of drawers, and a fluffy black cat is napping on a scarlet easy chair. One wall is covered with a large painting of a gold dragon perched heroically on a mountaintop. Cerlinde finds that she has disturbed the sleep of this cat, which jumps down from the chair and stretches. It then strolls toward Cerlinde, meowing insistently about whatever it is that cats are deeply concerned about.
(In for a penny, in for a pound...) Syd, finding the weak spot, will continue to force his way forward (through the gel), still on holiday from the land of logical thinking.
(Technically, rage ends if Syd hasn't either attacked or taken damage in 6 seconds, so I suppose he will snap out of it if nothing happens here...)

Syd is oddly soothed by the cool, smooth barrier as he pushes his way through. Popping his head and arms through, he finds a small room, almost like a cave, that contains a few essential items. There are forty days worth of rations, sixteen torches, two staves, four daggers, twenty darts, a cartographer's kit, two bedrools, and two leather bags. The room is large enough for two people to occupy comfortably, with two armchairs and a few random books on mundane subjects like survival, hand-to-hand combat, history, geography, and epic poetry sitting on a small table between the chairs. The other supplies are well organized on the wooden floor and the walls are empty. The temperature and humidity of the room are very pleasant.
Getting up from a comfy armchair, Ollezall follows into the room.
He pats the cat and looks for signs of intelligence over and above what I cat might posess
Insight 19
"What Devil do you serve little meow meow? Reveal your secrets..."
Ollezall picks the cat up and looks at it eye to eye.
Despite his suspicions, Ollezall finds that the cat is of the typical domestic feline variety. Staring into its eyes, he finds no ill intent, only the expectation of pats and food. The cat looks back at him, then gives a big cat yawn, the kind where it meows in a long, drawn out way while it's yawning. As a result, Ollezall receives a fine whiff of stinky cat breath. As Ollezall turns his head away from the offensive odour, he sees in the corner of the room an unusual horn sitting on the bedside table on the far side of the room.
Cerlinde says “this might be a good place to detect magic”… she starts ritual casting…
Following the requisite period of time, Cerlinde is able to examine the room for the presence of magic. Unlike most of the rooms they've explored thus far, there is very little of note, aside from two objects, which give off a muted aura. One is the horn, to which Ollezall's attention is directed, and the other is a book, sitting on the near bedside table. It is yet another puzzle book, this one with the letter 'E' on the spine.
Ollezall goes to inspect the horn. How does it feel, is it heavy? What material is it made from and what might it's purpose be?
Ollezall inspects to see if the horn is hollow; is this a musical horn or a drinking horn? Ollezall recalls going to a coming of age ceremony where the men were drinking ale and beer from vessels carved from mighty horned animals..... Then progressing to do very dangerous climbing activities, and shenanigans involving 25 grown men thrusting the new initiate to manhood down a flying fox; nearly throwing the initiate airborne when the flying fox met the spring at the end of the zipline...good times.
Snapping back to reality; Ollezall hands the horn to Cerlinde who has an active detect magic spell going; " what aura do you get from this? Looks cool."
Noticing the absence of a green hulking barbarian; " hey where did Syd go? Last I saw he was poking around a fire place..."
Syd's mind clears as he passes through the soothing barrier. He will inspect the books, looking for any letter-spined volumes, or... anything else. Clearly, there is too much loot for him to carry alone, but he will grab the leather bags and investigate their contents, and then crawl back through the barrier to inform his friends of his discovery. If he finds the fireplace room empty, he will travel into the bedchamber and catch up with the party.

The horn is sturdy, made from (flip open MM, find closest monster w/horns) steely black iron. It is a musical horn, as the narrow end is shaped slightly like a mouthpiece and is open. Otherwise, it is fairly nondescript, aside from a leather strap of decent quality. It is giving off an aura of Transmutation magic.

There is nothing of note beyond what was already described in the pile of books. Each leather bag contains 75 gp worth of coin. I think the party has vacated the fireplace room?
Cerlinde evaluates the magic items in the bedroom.

Cerlinde already knows the relevant details of the puzzle book, but the nature of the horn is on the tip of her tongue. She has the idea that maybe Ollezall should give it a try.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mohdrak followed the others into the bedroom. He felt a little uncomfortable just barging into the most private room in the manor, save perhaps the bathroom, let alone the sleeping quarters of a lady which just added to the awkwardness but no one else seemed to make an issue out of it. He shuffled around a bit while the others picked up various baubles and prattled on about magic.
His mind was focused on a more down to earth matter: Mohdrak looked for anything that might indicate that someone or something else inhabited this manor aside from the two servant homunculi and the occasional stray mimic.
Syd wanders into the bedroom. "Hey guys, there's a cache of weapons and rations behind the fireplace. I think I even saw some mapmaking tools in there, Cerlinde. I brought this out, but there was more than I could carry in one trip." He hoists the coin-bags for the others to see. (Party total now 400 gp I believe (assuming we're OK pilfering from an obviously powerful wizard's private demiplane-mansion)).
He notices Ollezall's feline friend. "Nice cat. That reminds me, when's dinner?" he says, smiling evilly at the creature.

Investigation: 16 (21 if it's Perception instead)
It's unclear to me if Mohdrak would be thoroughly investigating given his expressed discomfort, but if so, he would find the following: The top drawers of the dresser contain elegant, well-made robes. The lower drawers hold more utilitarian tunics and dresses. There are a couple of sets of robes and pants that don't match the rest and seem better suited to a man. Next to the washbasin on top of the dresser, Mohdrak observes that there are two wooden toothbrushes. One's bristles seem to be a bit more worn than the other.
Regardless, as Mohdrak is pondering the question of inhabitants, he feels the cat brush against his legs and hears it purring loudly. It gives a little meow and looks up at him.
Ollezall inhales deeply, brings the horn to his mouth, and attempts to summon the sounds of the northmen on their longboats as he lets out a mighty breath. Strangely, the horn emits no sound at all. You notice, however, that Cerlinde appears very startled. Neither Syd, Mohdrak, nor the cat seem to react at all. Ollezall has not transformed into a goat.
(To clarify, Cerlinde is able to hear the majestic call of the horn, but no one else seems to hear it.)
"So where was this loot Syd? Sounds like a panic room. I could go in and pass things out; map supplies would be nice for Cerlinde, I won't refuse darts, and staves and daggers are useful to someone I'm sure. And you found 400gp?"
"Ah, no, I found 150 gold pieces, which when added to our prior total of 250 makes 400," Syd clarifies. "I'll be happy to show you what I found. As for that instrument, I think Cerlinde's a horny elf, uh, I mean, because she's an elf she can hear the horn."
