Stena, in her attempt to warn off Ranador, fails to make much sound, with the darkmantle pressed against her face, but does get a good taste of the feeding orifice of a darkmantle, it's salty and minerally, with a tongue coating slickness. She'd have to imagine it's not too far different from licking an armpit that had been smeared with grease and chalk. At least she didn't lose any air by trying to speak.

((If the spell requires you to be able to see, then you would not be able to use it while blind. Somatic are fine, your hands are free. Verbal... I think I'd let a check be made to pull it far enough away from your lips to be able to enunciate, but you might lose some of your held breath.))

FOG does the only thing you can do when you suddenly get a what feels like a bag thrown over your head all of a sudden.

Galingal grasps at his face, probing for any gap that he can slip his fingers into pull the creature off of him.

If he manages to get enough space to speak, he mutters "aiheuttaa haavoja", causing the tattoo on his face to briefly spark, radiating necrotic life sapping energy out and into the darkmantle.

Neth feels the familiar strangling sensation start to engulf around him and, while his starts to take a final breath, stabs up and out with his dagger where he believes the creature to be.

Jimjar, not sure where the one that he stabbed got to, gropes for whoever is nearest him. "Bet you 5 gold I can get this off!"

Lia struggles with the creature smothering her. She tries, fruitlessly, to release the spell she had prepared, but is unable to target anything with it, while effectively blind… ((readied vicious mockery cantrip drops unspent))…

On her new turn she tries to wrench the thing off of her, even just enough to get a phrase out, or a word… ((strength: 4)).

Lia struggles with the one covering her head, and isn't able to tug it free enough to give her a chance to speak.

Neth slams the dagger into the creature above his head, and feels the wind and cold spray of his tentacle as it whips past, but misses. The creature doesn't seem to care for being stabbed twice in rapid succession, and the tiefling feels the delightfully cool, breathable air of the cavern wash over his face as it flaps away. However, the overlapping darkness from the nearby creatures prevents him from seeing his attacker, though he can attempt to strike at it as it departs.

The other darkmantles keep up the pressure, squeezing the heads of those still trapped, twining around the arms of those who pulled them free, while fresh darkmantles flutter and scrape about the heads of those who got a second chance to take a breath.

Neth feels the creature release and breathes deep as the cool air hits his face. Attempting to seize the moment, he slashes out with his dagger.
