Avarice launches three crackling beams of energy towards the leftmost Black Knight - and although only one hits, the Knight's figure slowly crumbles, succumbing to the dozens of wounds it has taken already.
The second Knight lunges next to Mulligan and Varan, twirling its Glaive down at Avarice. Glaive Attack (Avarice): 18 Damage: 8 Glaive Attack (Avarice): 25 Damage: 9 Glaive Attack (Avarice): 24 Damage: 6 If any hit, Avarice takes an additional 11 Radiant damage and must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or be blinded by the eye-scorching energy of the blow.
Keyleth death saving throw: 12
The King remains motionless, while the Queen steps back - allowing Gazinoth, Mulligan, Varan, and Avarice to be in the same area of effect. A whirling mass of scintillating colors pulses from an incantation cast by the Queen, manifesting differently for each target of the prismatic spray. Mulligan: 6 Avarice: 4 Gazinoth: 2 Varan: 1
Mulligan, make a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, you are restrained as your body tenses instinctively at the feeling of slowly being transmuted into marble. Avarice, make a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw for half of 33 cold damage. Gazinoth DC19 Dexterity saving throw: 20 - Gazinoth closes his eyes just in time to avoid permanently losing his sight. Varan, make a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw for half of 30 lightning damage.
Varan is bathed in magical light... and a second slow to react, as he is scorched by a blinding flash of lightning. His hair is wild and soot covers his burned skin.

Varan spends his entire turn moving across the board before settling in a position which threatens the king in a gambit to see what would happen.
A pillar of flame drops down from the stars beyond, striking down one of the black pawns immediately. The King shifts positions as a result. It seems forcing a check against the enemy King grants the King the ability to move into a nonthreatened position - but at the cost of a piece.
The remaining pawns on the Black side step forwards, launching another round of attacks. Black Pawn 4 Longsword Attack (Avarice): 21 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.

The black Bishop wielding a weapon glowing with radiant light turns on Wulgar, making two attacks with a Maul - while a spell is uttered, healing the Queen of some damage far, far away. The other steps forwards and utters a healing spell, mending some of the Knight's wounds, while a spectral maul crashes down on the white priest.

Last turn used Cunning Action to Hide (Stealth roll if needed: 25 ) so if the hide worked then this attack has advantage? (Advantage attack roll: 16 )) and if hits there's an additional 15 Sneak Attack damage...
2nd Rapier Attack: 20 Damage: 17
If either attack hits Mulligan will expend a Bardic Inspiration for Defensive Flourish - 7 extra damage on that attack plus his AC is boosted by that amount until start of his next turn... And if by any chance the piece falls, Mulligan will take their square. Otherwise he moves to G5.
Bonus action: Cunning Action to Hide again. Specially if it worked last time. Stealth Roll: 33
Question... Are the Black Bishops supposed to be on the same color squares?? Looks like they have been for a while.
"Ragnar, destroy that pawn!"Avarice calls out, pointing at the pawn at D3.
Avarice winces as the pawn slashes at him with it's blade. "You'll regret that." He says and points his finger at the pawn which is momentarily surrounded by hellish flames. (Hellish rebuke 18 fire damage Save Dex 18 for half)
The Pawn isn't able to react in time to Avarice's counterincantation and promptly incinerates.
(Kaemgan: I'm unsure what you mean about the bishops being on the same square. Check the outline - there's one white-outlined Bishop on your side.) Mulligan's first strike lands into the unsuspecting Bishop, while the second is dodged. (OOC: as a general, if there's a piece you can reasonably 'hide' behind that's positioned between you and the piece(s) you're hiding from, you can make a check). The silent, emotionless face doesn't react - but you can tell it's beginning to be injured.
Attack rolls at disadvantage from King's Dodge: 20
The King parries one of Wulgar's javelin with ease, but the second lodges inside the marble cavity of its chest. Still unfazed, the King quickly snaps the javelin, tosses it adrift into the Astral Sea, and glances around. Following Mulligan's movement, Wulgar's check, and Varan's position, the King finds itself completely surrounded.
A shattering sound rings through the empty void of space. All pieces besides the King simultaneously crumble and, with no gravity to speak of, simply become rubble slowly drifting through the air. The King's sword detaches - embedded within the hilt is a nearly clear gemstone with a horizontal black line running through the center. A nebulous, miasmic void materializes a second later where the center of the board was; Gazinoth had already dived through, seemingly afraid of the astral plane.
What also catches your attention is the sound of tears. Where the friendly White Bishop stood is now a half-elven woman dressed in solid white, clerical garbs. She seems distraught, but she somehow seems relieved - as if a great burden had been relieved from her chest. Rather than make any introductions, she immediately drifts through the portal, nearly clawing to reach the room as quickly as possible.
Something you noticed, as the statues shattered, their faces had taken on an aspect of individuality; skin tones and facial features now vary. Pointed ears indicate the Queen was an elf. Tusks show the King was of Half-Orc lineage.
You get the disturbing feeling these statues are - or, rather, were - real people at one point.
Assuming you all enter rather than take a vacation in the Astral Sea...five of six torches brighten the room inside. You have two gems; one pearly white, acquired from Gazinoth, while the other is more recently acquired, an opalescent gem with a flat sheet of darker material bisecting the gem in two.
Gazinoth can be seen shuddering in one corner of the room. There's a haunted look in his eyes. It appears he didn't take the experience in the Astral Sea very well.
The Bishop - or, more accurately, the woman who was reverted to flesh from whatever imprisonment she was facing by the hands of the chessboard - is on her hands and knees, breathing heavily. She looks towards a chipped maul lying nearby with utter disgust, fury, and despair. Tears roll down her face. She's a Half-Elf - probably one of High Elf heritage. Her hair is dark, and it flows down to a middling shade of brown. One of her eyes has been removed in some way - an ugly scar covers one side of her face. A strange tattoo is imprinted on one side of her palm, her forehead, and her bottom lip. Her clothes didn't change from the previous room; she still seems dressed in far-too-typical, plain, clerical garments. She draws her breath after noticing the rest of you enter, stands, rights herself, and speaks.
"You do not know how long I have been trapped as one of his pieces. Years. Millenia. I know not," she makes out after a moment's pause, composing herself enough to speak. She touches her face, almost in disbelief. "The astral plane. It is timeless. I thought my tongue forgot the pleasure of speaking. I no longer remember my name - only the thousands upon thousands of games I have played my piece in. I only lost one - my first, and I was condemned to that hideous torment. For what it is worth - I thank you. Deeply."
On their way back to the room Avarice gives an quick appreciative nod at Wulgar for winning the game for them.
"We were only trying to survive that test, but you are welcome to join us in our effort to leave this forsaken place." Avarice says to the half-elf as she finishes, offering his hand. "Is there anything you remember about this place apart from the chess board." He asks, helping her up if she allows him to.
Avarice tries to recognize the tatoo, adviced by Vorax. Arcana: 24 if any other knowledge then -5 to the roll.
Wulgar nods back to Avarice, says "Great job, we worked together! I'm glad we are out of that place."
Seeing the half elf cleric Wulgar hears her words, says "Millenia, hard to figure. You can't remember your name? What should we call you? Do you remember how you originally ended up there?"

The rest of us have made a bit of a pact - to protect and help and aid one another, at least until this charade of a trial is over. We'll be wanting an honest answer about if you are willing to join said pact before we move on... But as I said, we should all get some rest and ruminate on things first."
