"Perhaps we should leave the hunt for the Intellect Devourer to Matreous then, but I would like to pay him a visit when time is given." Ludolf says as Bookwyrm finishes.
Ludolf nods as Fistandia talks about his uncle Malcer. He was indeed an old crank, anyone who met him even briefly knew that for a fact. He smiles warmly at Triäsa as Fistandia turns to her. He had never had the privilege of meeting her mother but she must have been very beautiful he thinks. "I'm still not sure why you would call out his name like that when I found you in the Far Realms Fistandia, I got the sense that you were disappointed in him for some reason, I suppose all who knows him are to some extent but this seemed to have to do with us being there and the things set in motion, like the stars falling." He continues in a serious tone.
"Yes, let us find that necklace now." Ludolf says firmly, standing up and taking a cinnamon roll to go, ready to go necklace hunting.
Fistandia smiles softly, "Your mother was a brilliant women, a true visionary. I heard about her death... I am very sorry for your loss. Perhaps, when the stars return we can trade stories over a nice warm cup of tea."She then stands up and faces Bookwyrm, "It seems we have a lead, excuse while we go recover my property. Shall we?"Not waiting for a reply she walks with a firm purpose toward the door, mutters the password and heads outside into the real world where she waits for you all to join.
(It sounds like you are already to move on but if there is anything else you would like to do or discuss before heading out please go ahead)
Pardot levels his sickle turn carefully and watching the stars glow and dance along the blade pointing toward your destination. You notice the eyes snap shut as you exit the pocket dimension but as walk and follow their lead they slowly open. You follow the sickles silent directions. Up stairs, down halls through dusty corridors and past busy scholars with their arms full of tomes. You walk for a rather long time but distance is nearly impossible to judge in this place. With each step forward the eyes open a bit more. After a good 20 minutes walking at a brisk pace the eyes on Pardot's weapon are wide open and you find yourself standing in front of a heavy oak door. The stars on the weapon fade as you have reached your destination. Next to the door is plaque with a name and a title on it. Ludolf and Triäsa recognize both the door and plaque as they were there just a few days before.
The office is of one Matreous Barasiant, Senior Avowed
Pardot silently thanks the goddess of the moon as the symbol fades from the blade on his sickle. Looking at the door and name plaque, he says, somewhat more quietly than his normal speaking voice, "uh... should we knock?"
Having finished his cinnamon roll on their hunt for the necklace through Candlekeep, Ludolf looks troubled as Pardot walks up to Matreous door. "There could still be a number of reasons the necklace found it's way beyond this particular door but we should of course be prepared for the worst, Matreous working for the Man in Black in some capacity, possibly as a husk inhibited by this aberration still on the loose in Candlekeep. I suggest we knock and question him, and unless a good explanation for the neclace being in there is presented us I can enter his mind to find out what we're really dealing with. If he doesn't open I would not be the least discomforted if we enter by our own means to proceed with our investigation." He finishes, looking at Daventry with a smile and nodding. Unless there are any objections Ludolf would then knock firmly on the door three times.
Daventry raises her hand to summon the all-to-familiar mage hand.
Nothing happens, of course. She pauses a moment to consider that, then shakes her head. She tightens her hand around the center grip of her polished buckler, and pushes open the door the old fashioned way.
Warily, she keeps an eye out for traps or anything else off about the area.
Ludolf probes his mind forward and does sense anything or anyone in the room ahead.
The door pushes open easily and you are greeted with the office of a busy man. The room is dark and lined floor to ceiling with bookcases packed with tomes of all shapes and sizes. A very large wooden desk sits across the office with a wooden high back chair with red apolstery. Behind the desk is a dust filled window that permits almost no light through. A medium sized footlocker locker sits behind the desk, the clasp is open, unlocked but the lid is closed. The air is thick, humid and very uncomfortable.
Daventry's quick safety survey of the room reveals a few details. There no traps in the room as far as Daventry can see. The room is in a bit of disarray, the desk has stacks of parchment scattered about a few tomes lay discarded on the floor and the candles that line the walls have all burned completely off with pools of wax collecting at the base and on the floor.
Investigate as you wish, let me know where/what you are searching and make either an investigation/perception roll.

Ludolf nods at Daventry and enters Matreous office, expecting Pardot to find the necklace, but the necklace being here clearly justifies a thorough search for other things of interest to the team. The old man starts with investigating the desk and it's contents.

Triäsa watches as Ludolf seems to examine the room then Daventry opens the door. Taking a brief moment to glance in, she then slips in behind the others. Noting the footlocker behind the desk, she moves to take a look at it. (Investigation: 26)
Finding it hard to breathe in the dank, dark room, Pardot lets the others conduct their close investigations, and instead does a slow walk around the room, just trying to take everything in. Stopping by the dust filled window he looks around to see if he can find a rag or something to wipe it off a bit, as well as to see if he can open the window to allow some natural light, and air, into the room.
Ludolf -- You riffle through parchment on the desk, at a quick glance it appears to be notes and journal entries regarding various entities of the Far Realm. They are descriptions of Mind Flayers and Intellect Devourers. This work appears to be aligned with Matreous' assigned task but it seems odd... the paper is worn and the ink is faded and old... these notes are not made recently but years and years old. The drawers contain various writing implements, blank parchment, paper weights but a few of the drawers are completely empty. Judging by the lack of dust and compared to the general state of the the other drawers it seems as if a few of these drawers were recently emptied.
Triäsa -- The footlocker is finely made and exceptionally heavy. Inside you find only one pair of crumpled robes. They look to be spare robes typical of the ones Matreous would wear from day to day. It seems odd to you that a large, expensive footlocker would contain just a single pair of robes.
Pardot -- The window is nailed shut and will not open without some manner of force. You are able to clean a bit grime from the window and the morning sun shines into the room giving you a bit of light. As it does you note a sharp glimmer on a nearby bookshelf. A silver necklace with a book charm sits in plain sight on a shelf along the eastern wall.

"This footlocker has next to nothing in it," Triäsa reports. She takes another brief moment to check out the robes to see if perhaps any of the pockets contain anything. While she's 'at it she gives one last glance to make sure nothing was missed in the footlocker as well. (Investigation: 29)

Ludolf tries to determine if the old notes is in Matreous writing or someone elses. He would then check the book shelves for anything that could be part of Fistandia's library.
As the light begins to fill the room, Pardot turns behind him as a glimmer reflects into his eye. Walking over to the shelf he picks up the necklace saying, “I think I’ve found what brought us here at least. Though… now the issue is why it’s here…”
(Sigh, life and the complications it brings with it! The struggle of work and fun... Why can't we just tell our stories! Maybe I should just write a book! Regardless, the investigation continues...)
Triäsa -- This robe seems to be worn and dirty. Nothing exciting other than day to day wear and tear but as you run the pockets you find a crumbled up piece of paper that reads. "Maria Yellowcrest, Waterdeep" At the bottom of the note is a simple drawing of a black hand held fan. The footlocker is otherwise empty.
Ludolf -- The notes are certainly in Matreous' handwriting. The shelves contain books you are very familiar with from your time with your uncle. None of them are particularly exotic or rare. Fistandia looks them over carefully with you, she does not recognize any of them as her own.
"Where on Faerun has he gone and what is he doing with my necklace..."Fistandia stomps about the room in frustration. "and where are my books!"She almost yells in anger.

"I wonder if Matreous might have left Candlekeep, perhaps even with your library Fistandia. We could check with the front gate if he left that way." Ludolf says as he ponders the teams findings. "There is something odd here with Matreous work on Mind Flayers and Intellect Devourers. It seems to be very old, suggesting he had reason to reareach these subjects earlier and failing to mention that."He mutters, scratching his hair. "Pardot, can you use your magic to locate Fistandia's library? Well, assuming it is still in Canldekeep." He turns and asks the halfling.

"Found the name Maria Yellowcrest, Waterdeep in the robe," Triäsa tells the others. "I do not suppose the name means anything to anyone?"
She tries to think of whether she knows the name. (History: 11) And while she's at it, she takes another look at the robe. Does it seem to be something that would fit him? Or does it have any indication it could have belonged to a woman? (Investigation: 19)
Once she completes her examination, she turns to look at Ludolf. "Yes. We should find out if Matreous was seen leaving Candlekeep. Or even better, find him." A thought suddenly occurs to her. "How did he get into Fistandia's pocket dimension anyhow? Did we not have the password changed when the place was renovated? Nobody gave it to him did that?"

"It is hard to tell what really happened, but if it is Matreous stealing Fistandia's necklace I suppose he might have used magic to make Davy compliant, using him to enter the mansion, then leaving with the library. Perhaps Bookwyrm or Fistandia could help us with scrying magic to locate him and the library if he has indeed left Candlekeep."Ludolf suggests, looking to Daventry and Pardot for their thoughts.
