(Klin is ahead of you in initiative so he would be back with 7HP for this round. Though he is prone.)
The aberrations shift and shimmer as you all lash out violently. Daventry's strike combined with those before manage to down the first one. It explodes in slime coating the walls as well as Klin and Daventry on the front lines. Triäsa and Ludolf lay into the last remaining combatant knocking pieces of ectoplasm from it both clearly injuring the strange creation.
The aberration then turns hungrily toward Daventry once again acting purely on it's primal instinct to feed on the nearest source.
Attack: 5 Damage: 17
On a hit DC 12 Con save please. On a fail take one level of exhaustion.

Daventry dodges back as the creature attempts to siphon off her life energy, her clothes and hair dripping and covered in goop. She presses the attack on the abomination, the blade of her sword trailing energy.

"What a mess, so unnecessary but perhaps inevitable." Ludolf says to no one in particular while helping to clean up Daventry and Klin from the goo they are both completely covered in. "We should continue before anyone comes here to investigate, although I suspect no one would come to the aid of these seclusive creatures." He adds, ready to follow Daventry in search of the tomes they are still looking for.

"Yea..." Triäsa takes a moment to look over the room and the carnage the group created. She noticably keeps back, letting Ludolf help clean up the two hit hardest by the slime.
She gives a cursory look to Klin, to make sure he's up and moving, then tries to pick her way through the room, trying to avoid any of the mess. Going to the door closest to where they entered, she says, "Maybe I can just check out this door."
She will see if it opens.

"NO, WAIT, TRIÄSA..." Ludolf cries out and moves surprisingly quickly by her side, trying to shield her from whatever may hide behind the door. Perception to not be blindsided by the aberration that is about to ambush them: 7 perhaps
Triäsa opens the door just as Ludolf gets to her side. Sensing no sounds or danger beyond she opens the door to area beyond.. The room beyond is dark with no windows or sources of light. Thankfully, with her keen vision Triäsa can see that this is some sort of meager storage room. Except for a corner with two stacked wooden trunks, the walls of this room are lined with half-empty bookshelves.
The books are very routine and boring. Common tomes which could be found in any store this seems to be the pack's stack of common goods. The two chest are wooden and stacked on top of each other. Neither is locked.
"Some light perhaps Triäsa." Ludolf suggests with a smile. "And if you could also try to use your magic to discern if we have any more of those aberrations in there?" He adds, hoping he can slow the not so cautious young half-elven bard down until the others are ready with their clean up process.
Triäsa hesitates as she was about to step into the room. "I can only make one light. If I take it in here then the others will not have one. I suppose we can wait."
She gives Ludolf a chagrined look. "I guess I just wanted to get out of here. I can cast Detect Magic to see what I pick up."
So, while waiting for the others, she starts to play her lute and softly sing, casting Detect Magic as a ritual.
'Life is but a weaving Between the real and mystic. It's colors remain hidden Beyond all sight of man.
Music's notes encompass Mystic threads as they do twist. Revealing their many colors To musician's eyes demand.'
"Yes, we can wait here Triäsa, we have time." Ludolf says calmly, and then he listens to her singing, standing closer to the enchanting music than he has before. It is mesmerizing him, leaving him in a state of bliss, his grey eyes softly gazing down on the young half-elven nightingale. "Thank you Triäsa." He says quietly as the ritual is complete, looking into her brown eyes with gratitude. "That was...amazing."

"We can check the trunks, see if our desired books are within... or more of those creatures, if your magic sight's got the eye for 'em. Klin, a hand with... them?"
While Triasa sings her ritual, Daventry looks for an extinguished lantern or candle, if there is one within the room, and relights it. She then goes to move the jackal bodies, laying them down in a row in the corner. After, she searches through any clothing or goods they left behind when they transformed, starting with Korvala, as well as the remainder of the room - trunks, under beds, etc.
Triäsa finishes her spell the entire area stays quiet there is no sign of magic anywhere in the storage room, chests or the hallway. Daventry's search of the room does reveal a 3 small candles which she lights to give off a warm orange glow to the room. The 7 jackals do not have any possessions on them. The first trunk contain nothing more than dirty, tattered clothing and a few almost clean rags. Opening the second trunk you see again dirty rags and blankets but just underneath you find a mixture of silver, copper and electrum coins. It is about 50gp worth.
Korvala's robes contain a small pocket on the inside that would have been very easy to miss. Thankfully you spotted it just before throwing the robes to the side. In the pocket are a pair of small non-descript keys. She also carries a plain scimitar that bears the marks of time.
No where in these two rooms do you find the books you are searching for. All the books are plain and unremarkable.

Seeing Klin drop, Daventry quickly moves over to him. "Hells, Klin. Breathe deep, you're going to be fine." She helps him up to sit on a cot and gather himself. "I'm glad you were on the line with me. I'd be kibble otherwise... And us northern girls tend to be pretty gamey and stringy, so you saved them a meal worse than death." She tries to give him an encouraging smile.
Triäsa again pauses a moment, then decides to try firing her crossbow at the aberration that has not been hit yet.

Klin's whips the book flail out striking the creature solidly in the side causing it rupture and spray goo and slime all over himself and Daventry.
After a frantic 30 seconds the battle is over. Seven dead jackals litter the floor of this now bloody and slime coated room. Everything is quiet.
(Not bad 9, somewhat fragile but still tough baddies and you made rather short work of them)
