Spix says”One of those arrows got me. But I’m ok for a bit”. She winces as she pulls the arrow out of her shoulder, and then holds a cloth to the wound. “Let’s find a place to hole up. Anyone know this town, I’m new in the north. Heck of a welcoming party.”
"If folks still want to, now would probably be a good time to lash ourselves together before we continue on." Magwynn speaks up as she stands from examining the corpse. She puts away her weapons, though they remain accessible.
"Likely a good idea." Davis agrees, accepting the rope to tie off with him in the lead. "Let me know when everyone is ready and I'll lead the way towards this village." He glances off into the snow, in the direction they are heading. "Likely should tell those in town about these beasts as well as that figure with the bow."
"Great job! I was worried there for a moment, but clearly I should not have been!" Sohk moves to Spix in an attempt to assist with being tied together and thanks her then to everyone else, "Lead the way!"
"I hope they aren't known in town," Magwynn agrees. "We should keep an eye out in case those two decide to come back," she adds once everyone is tied together. "I'm not sure if that creature was affected by magic or Chardalyn to become what it was, but I can only hope it doesn't spread easily."
"I too hope it is not a pervasive thing in these parts." Davis responds at the mention of the strange mutated beast. "We can see if the villagers have heard of them, and know anything about this one in particular, or if we simply need to warn them and be done with it." He glances over the others, making sure they are all ready, then starts to lead the way towards the village.
Velan attempts to cast a final spell at the beast however it falls just short of it's target hitting a snow drift just a little towards it's right. The drift sizzles then melts into water as the beast continues forward then out of sight.
In the mean time everybody else ties themselves up a rope together awaiting as a few of them inspect the body of the fallen beast.
Zin, exuberant in victory, shouts out in the snow towards the retreating figures "Yeah that's right, you just run! Come back here if you want to get your comeuppance! Up yours!" He looks around to the rest of you embarrassed at his sudden outburst, then showing false bravado. "Yeah, they had it coming to them. What the hell were those things? And where did he come from?" Zinhorn grabs hold of the rope, and goes along in tow.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Bloody Hells, he cursed silently as the spell hit its target. This time the flames had been far weaker than before, far from enough to finish the beast. Where is the other? Velan questioned looking around, fearing being flanked. He found the second beast approaching, and by nothing if not pure reflex unsheathed his dagger against it. The attack was precise, the cut deep and the reward bitter for the hyena-like creature bore its fangs against the wizard.
The first thing to cross his mind was to cast Shield, but before doing so he knew it was too late. Gritting his teeth, the hexblood took the bite. The fangs of the monster sunk deep into his flesh, the piercing pain was enough to rob him of conscience for a moment. By the time he was aware of his surroundings the creature on the right was dead, the one who lacerated him running.
“Not so fast.”He said between grunts of pain, rising his right hand and producing another flame. “Ignis!” The mote of fire cut trough the air together with his pained voice, hitting nothing but the snow.
His companions start talking, posing their questions, while centers his efforts on staying afoot. He takes the rope and start tying himself with the others, at the very end of the march.
“I hate to be the one to say that, but I’m one hit from the grave.” Velan said pointing to his wounds. “Healing would be greatly appreciated, and Zin, you got the wrong lower plane of existence. Those things are linked to the Abyss, not Baator. They are the result of hyenas scavenging on corpses left by Yeenagu, the Demon Lord who rules layer four-two-two of the Abyss. Charming fellow with one single command for his spawns and followers - kill. The smiling boys will come back and with as many allies as they have so let’s just move and hope smiling daddy is not with them.”
(Spix will help with survival check). Spix says to Velan… “I’m hurt as well, but hang in there. Hopefully we will find a place to rest through this storm. I can heal you a little but I will save some of my healing for emergencies” She places a gloved hand on his shoulder and a warm feeling flows into him (lay on hands for 3 HP).”

The beast takes the damage in the rear as it staggers but manages to continue running away.
“Stay away from us or you will get more of that!” spix yells after the beast, clearly frustrated.

Is it possible that Chardalyn is the cause?
