“I will take them both.”Velan said satisfied with the precision of his estimative. It would certainly be better for him to hunt knowing that if Ninlil was noticed and attacked, he could call her again. Bloody hells, he cursed with the voice of his mind as he noticed that he could have left the familiar listening to Magwynn’s lesson so when he returned, he could hear everything the firbolg taught. Instead he needed to count with her good will, to abuse of it, if he wanted to be of any help in the whole ordeal. For someone who lives through science and knowledge I can be really stupid sometimes he admitted taking the wallet out of his bag.
The wizard handed the twenty gold coins to the sister and started packing everything. Took surprisingly little time to fit the material components in the bag. With all finished he looked to his friendly acquaintances, then back to woman.
“Well, everyone, I got everything I have come from.” Not really, but Velan was pleased enough with having purchased his most immediate need. “Thank you sister.”He said solemn. “Shall we return to the inn?”
Truth be told, he wanted to check the Frozen Far's Expeditions, see what the halfling brothers knew about the gnolls, but it would be more practical to do that with the whole group. With that in mind and expecting no one to remain at the shrine, the hexblood start taking his leave.
spix has been trying on her snow shoes and practicing walking around inside with them. She says “I’m ready.. which direction is the inn- we don’t want to get lost in this weather! ?“ She asks the sister.
She humbly takes the gold and smiles warmly at Velan then turns towards spix
"After you leave here just turn left and continue straight. The inn is located at the center of town. I know first hand if you do happen to get lost just smell the air for fresh bread. Then follow your nose. It will lead you straight there."
she says as she smiles
"Be safe out there and may peace be with you all."
After carefully moving in the sleet and following your nose you safely make it back at the Inn. Being outside you gather through the light remaining it did take some time to go from place to place seeking the items that were most valuable for your next mission. As you enter Melody waves towards you all as she smiles a sigh of relief.
"I'm glad you made it back safely. Shall I get you all something to eat and drink ? I bet by now your probably hungry. Or close to it I think."
“Something warm to eat, and an ale, sounds good to me” Spix says. She sits and removes her snowshoes and gloves, carefully brushing off her furry boots, and puts her hands up to warm by the fire. She looks at the mushrooms and things spread out from the survival lessons- and adds” what I really want to know is how to find game like deer and rabbits in the snow. Here- let’s use this map we bought and plan out where they will likely be thickest?” She rolls the map out on a table and starts studying it. ”So here’s the village where we are now....”
Davis settles down near the fire, warming himself after the short walk back to the inn. "I too would not mind a bit of warm food and an ale." He responds with a nod. Glancing to the map he shrugs. "I have never been much of a hunter." He explains. "My best idea is still to have those not so good at sneaking about, like myself, drive game towards those better able to remain hidden."
"That sounds delightful!" Sohk responds to Melody. After settling in and enjoying the warm interior, Sohk responds to Davis, "I can hide pretty well, throw some darts from hiding. That sounds like a decent enough plan to me."
"Once the sleet stops, if it crusts over we'll be able to easily track anything moving that's large enough to break through the ice, like deer," Magwynn says. "Maybe hares, the bucks at least. If it snows we'll have more variety." She moves to study the map Spix has provided. Does it have enough detail in terms of elevation, waterways, and tree/brush type for Magwynn to make some estimates on where to place traps or hunters?
(If yes, Nature check: 17, including favored terrain prof bonus)
(If no, she'll ask around the gathered locals who's got the most hunting experience in the area)
Zin sits down with the everyone else at the table. He says to his companions conspiratorially "I'm a little low on coin, for expenses and so forth. I may need to sing for my supper (as I have done before), play a little and leave out the tip jar. I've done it before, I can do it again. Or, hopefully, we can get this hunting job done soon and that will help." Zin looks up to Melody and says "Yes, that sounds delightful! Please put it on my tab, will you my dear? Do you need a strong singing voice for the celebrations and a good viol player as well? I will be glad to sing whatever the croud might like to hear. I don't know if there are any different songs that you like here as opposed to the popular tunes in Luskan. My stomach is starting to sing a tune all of its own..." He looks down at his stomach, looks up and smiles.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
“Yes please. Anything warm will be perfect.” He answered Melody’s offer while taking a seat. Zin was a little bit reluctant, given his proclaimed lack of coin. “Don’t worry, man. Mrs Goodwinn said we have room and board while working under her. As long as we don’t abuse it, we have free food.”
Spix had pulled a map and started discussion on the hunt. Velan heard attentively. The warrior’s idea seemed good and Magwynn were encouraging, provided the sleet stopped. The problem is if it doesn’t, he thought to himself, always pessimistic. It was hard enough to find their way through the village, let alone hunting any prey in the wildlands.
“I think that we can lay traps in likely feeding points, but I’m not sure about following his idea.”The wizard mentioned pointing to the nameless warrior. “No offense, but we will make easier targets if we divide ourselves.” And the wizard was not sure if it was worth the risk. “Anyhow, we could also have Ninlil and Spirit survey the area. Owls have a keen eyesight and are more likely to notice something from the sky than we are from the ground.”
It was also safer to have the familiars scouting. The gnolls could strike anytime and there was also the cannibal. A moment of carelessness was enough for them to go from hunters to hunted. With that in mind he reached for his quill and ink.
“There is some information I need to share with you, but we will need a more discreet place for that, seeing as our employer dislike rumors spreading.”
"Perfect! It won't take long. I'll be right back with some drinks." as she turns and goes to put in the order. A short time later she comes around with large mugs filled with your favorite drink of choice. She places the drinks in front of you then disappears to the back to go check on the food.
About 15 min later she comes around with several plates. She then works her way around every person in the group placing a plate near them making sure it's just out of the way of the map and easy to get to. She smiles before heading back behind the bar.
As you look at your plate you notice two big sticks with meat squares, potato circles, Carrot chunks and a bit of onion attached to them. The serving wench comes around with a fresh roll of bread, a knife and some butter that she sets down at the table.
"Enjoy!" you hear melody say as the serving wench moves to other tables cleaning up the extra dishes left by other customers.
Spix smiles and enjoys her food and drink. She nods in understanding about the note, and says out loud “Yes -the owls can scout for us- that is a good idea. I also am nervous about splitting up too much. Well- assuming this weather clears up- which way should we head first?”
Zin digs in, heartily enjoying the meal. "Thank you Velan, I forgot that. And I agree with you about our hunting party, I believe that we should all stay together. I have heard it said from other adventurers that the biggest mistake that a group can make is to split up. Is that right? Have you heard the same thing? It makes sense to me to stay together. These carrots are divine!" Zin starts unconsciously humming a little tune as he's eating, enjoying the meal.

"If you have no way to communicate quickly between groups, splitting up can be a poor decision," Magwynn agrees. "As we have several days to work, we can see how we fare without splitting up the first day."
Taking a look at your map the first thing you notice is the nearest place to Kleine is Bryn Shander which is located North-North East of town. However all of the smaller towns like Dougan's Hole, or Breman are not located on the map. You only see the major large towns such as Termalaine and East Haven. You find your self located mainly in the center in a patch of various sized tree's scattered through the area along the Ten-Roads. Red River Runs from the West-North West around the outskirts of tree's heading North-North East leading further into the heart of the Spine of the World. The Spine of the World Mountains are mainly to the West-South Eastern parts from Kleine.
"If that is the group's decision, then so be it." Davis says with a nod. "I would agree that, adventuring, is the sort of thing you do without splitting up. What we are asked to do here is hunting, not adventuring, so I put forth a plan that would optimize that work." He sips his ale and then shrugs again. "If we plan to stay as a group, then I would imagine we won't be hunting game like deer or other skitish type of animals, as we won't have a chance of sneaking up on them. We'll have to go for something that will likely attack us rather than run away. Best go into this with that in mind."
