" This must be the climax forest! I learned it in my nature class." Dorcas watches the woodsaround him with his beaming eyes. As a dwarf who spent most of his life in a city, Dorcas never steps so deep into the wild.
Keun is bringing up the rear, keeping an eye out and trying to watch their flank. He is following the others and most focused on looking to the woods around.

"Best to go West. Strange, why would the footsteps go back in the direction of the keep? Any idea?" He turns to the followers of Helm. (Insight: 14 )
"I do wonder where these others trails lead...It is rather strange for these paths to be here, so close to the Keep, yet seemingly out of sight of it."
" … This is disturbing. Bart said no patrol entered the forest. If these tracks are from the missing people then why did they not follow the road and turn back in the forest instead? " Dorcas raises his head from the ground. He starts to track the footprint and walks again. " Dverin saw the reflection not so long ago. If we hurry, maybe we can catch up with them. My friend. Do you need the holy guidance of Moradin? "
(Dorcas will give Dverin Guidance. You can add d4 to your next survival check.)
"That the Keep is probably under observation is a theory most subscribe to, but this might be the answer to the question. The Curate and the Castellan have had differing opinions. The Castellan has favored outside observation, while the Curate has posited that their is a spy amongst the residents or visitors. If this path continues, it will put us in a position to observe the Keep."
Only a little further on, you enter the area of firs which surrounds the forest. The going becomes more difficult as branches snag at you, and the forest floor turns from composted leaves and dirty to dried needles again.
Dvernin
About 50 yards ahead you spot a dingy bit of red cloth ahead, but it is hard to tell more at this distance.
Dverin nods to the accompanying guards, and in the sight of all, gestures towards the discovered piece of red cloth in the distance, moving towards it.
" Who is observing the keep? It couldn't be a mere criminal. And I just remember… I saw the arrow slits of the towers facing inside of the keep. What are them for? It's a bit over-prepared for a bunch of bandits and raiders." Dorcas asks the guards excitedly. He busily moves his short legs to catch up the red cloth ahead.

"It could be mere bandits, the answer, perhaps, lies ahead. As the the arrow slits inside the Keep. They are to protect the towers, should the gate be breached or the walls scaled."
At 25 yards, you it seems to be something resting against the tree facing away from you. The dirty cloak, however makes identification from this distance and angle difficult. Approaching from another will be difficult due to the many dead branches on the ground and still attached to the trees.
Dverin draws his bow and strings an arrow. He shrugs, looks around at the party for a moment, alerting them, and fires an arrow directly at the tree itself, quickly reloading another arrow in its place, calling out, "Oi!" He is aware this was a hasty decision.
" Wait Dverin! They could be an innocent Passerby! " Dorcas stares at the ranger unbelievably. " I'll go out and have a look. You guys stay behind in case this is a trap or setting up for an ambush." The dwarf carefully walks up to the tree. His hand holds the shield. His eyes surveys the shadows of dead branches to find hidden enemies and traps.
"Hey! Are you okay? I'm sorry. It was an accident. We came here to hunt. But that stupid rabbit suddenly jumped out from the bush… " Dorcas calls out to the figure with a dirty cloak. " Are you hurt? If so I can heal you…"
The bolt misses (he is behind) burying itself in the tree but does not rouse the figure
Dorcas
At your words, the figure rouses a bit and growls before bending its frame around the tree. What looks back at you is neither human nor elf!
The face that looks back at you has a long extended jaw, a wide flat nose with large nostrils, deep set eyes which give off a malevolent glee, a heavily ridged brow and large, hairy, pointy ears which stick out from the side of his head.

Based on the map below tell me where each of you are starting from inside the gray box (party is currently the archer)
Enemy is currently prone
Due to the forest all ranged attacks are considered 3/4 cover and melee attacks at 1/2 cover
Each hex = 5 feet (map will be maintained on campaign page)
Dorcas feels much relieved when he knows that they didn't shoot innocent people. " Oh you don't like my healing? " He draws his weapon and says. " Then how about my hammer! "
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
" Oh Moraine! May your righteous wrath burn my enemy! " Dorcas raises his shield high. The holy symbol on his shield emits white light then a flame-like radiance descends on the creature who growled at him.
Flame-like radiance descends on a creature that you can see within range. The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw(DC13) or take 1d8 radiant damage. The target gains no benefit from cover for this saving throw.
The latest set of footprints lead off to the West, back towards the Keep.
