The return swing catches the second skeleton in the rib cage and blows through it dropping the undead construct back to being regular dead. Looking into the cage you recognise the missing crew members but there are also a few malnourished prisoners sat despondently towards the rear who have clearly been here longer
Sheridan offers the hungry ones some of his rations.
To the crew
You don't know us, but we came on your ship. It's anchored offshore and there are a few small boats at the dock.
If any of you are battle-hardened, feel free to help us clear out the reanimated monsters here. They're currently distracted and we can lead the charge. This may be our best chance to stop them attacking your ships again in the future. The stolen cargo is all here. It is imperative it be recovered.
The strongest rowers among you should start ferrying people to our ship.
The chief engineer stands cradling what appears to be a broken arm and gingerly shuffles forwards. Aint none of us fighter lad t'otherwise we'd not have been taken in the attack but if ye can keep the pirates busy we fer sure can get to the boats and head out to the Queen afore bombarding this here shanty town te dust. Not sure we can do much to get the cargo out without you boys taking out the pirates and scuppering their galley though...
When we can get these lot away, we should make an effort to get the cargo. Its what we were hired for after all. I can start a few more fires to sow some chaos and we can try and pick them off?
Constantin finishes unlocking the cage and looks up. Well if we aren’t worried about being quiet I can start picking some off from a distance. The weapon I use is relatively new, powerful but very noisy which is why I have not done so yet. I think between the four of us we should be ok. If we start with the ones who came from that tavern looking building first and move on to the ship we can thin their numbers without being ambushed.
Oriki looks at Constantin, head cocked as he reaches for his bow and pulls it to the front of his body
Loud is it? Mine's quiet as the wind. Shall we see who I can pick off?
He smiles before looking up the path ahead, trying to spot good hiding places. Then, making his best effort, he pulls his hood up and slips ahead of the party up the path, and into the shadows.
Oriki spots the enemies appearing out of the gloom. Hearing Draskan's clattering, he darts down a side passage running behind the building adjacent to the enemies, where he starts climbing to the roof
Oriki scampers up onto the roof of the tavern like a chimp drawing himself to the ledge where he can take a shot unopposed. Draskan and Constantin come around the corner of the building. Sheridan not far behind and come face to face with the ghoulish pirates. Sheridan hears the rasping voice in his hear again. The ghouls still have sentience. The zombies however are master less you could seize control of them if you tap into your true nature
Oriki, still hiding on the roof, prepares an arrow to fire, sits up long enough to aim before loosing it at the nearest ghoul, and then ducks back down into the recesses of the roof.
Sheridan mumbles a few words to no one in particular and his eyes roll back in his head. An aura appears around him in the form of a hazy crown, a tattered cloak and a skeletal arm around his withered one.
He steps toward the undead and addresses the zombies and points at the ghouls
Heed my will. Those 3 twisted creatures are your enemy. Smash them to pieces.
The aura drifts past the ghouls and seeps into the fetid flesh of the zombies following behind them. Their lifeless eyes glow with an icy blue light and they almost straighten up, their gazes now locking on the back of the ghoulish pirates in front of them.
