"Should we go after him?" Crom wonders aloud. "He might lead us right to Gundren. Of course, it will probably be an ambush. Or should we move forge ahead this way to keep them guessing about our whereabouts?"
"Looks to me like we've two choices. Follow the stream under the bridge and look for another path, or toss a rope over the bridge and try to climb right up onto it to get after that goblin and his mates."
"This is startin' to feel like we're walkin into a trap, maybe we split up? those who can climb up, do, and the rest walk into the trap and spring it, It's a gamble but maybe worth it, rope is good, or if an ye like use my shield as a step up off my back for the lighter ones." Mal looks pensive at the thought of a trap, as he look around in the torchlight for any looks of confirmation, he then finally smiles at the risk this could inevitably entail.
"Alright, let's try this." Crom puts down his bow and unslings his pack from his shoulders. Reaching in, he pulls out a well-used length of rope and tosses a coil clear over the bridge so one end is hanging over the other side of the bridge, while Crom keeps hold of the other end.
"Mal, mind holdin anchor at this end while someone else, maybe Ragnarok or someone light and nimble with quick hands climbs up the other side. Then whoever goes up can tie off their end and post lookout while th'others climb up after. I'll try to get partway up that pile o' rubble over there with my bow ready so if anyone tries rushin' down the bridge at ye, I'll have 'em in my sights"
"Offering the services of mymage hand, Crom," says Ink. "I can manipulate an object up to thirty feet away. Maybe then Master Po could shimmy up the rope and take a look at things from the bridge..."
Calantha thought everything was going well all things considered until she heard the shrieking noises coming from further inside the cave. Well, that's just great. I guess they know we're coming now, she thought to herself.
"Whatever we do we should probably be quick about it. I think the goblins know we're here now."

"we move now" Mal urges whilst taking one end of the old rope and handing the other to Ink with a nod. "If we can climb up on the other side of the bridge do that, It looks like it was designed to hold the weight of goblins and no more".
Mal holds the rope in one arm, threads it under that arm and across his back ready to take weight on it and brace himself on the cave walls. "go on".
Crom abandons his attempt to find firm footing on the cave in and jogs back over to the rope. "Alright, no shame in needin' help, Chesnica. But perhaps I should go up first then, nice and quick, so you aren't as vulnerable while you climb. Then Ragnarok and I can help you out from opposite ends."
With that, Crom stows his bow on his back and nods to Mal to make sure he is ready for Crom's weight. He then hops up as high as he can with a boost from Ragnarok and starts climbing the rope hand over hand.

"If we've lost the element of surprise then we can only move forward, trap or no trap we're fighting our way in and out."
Mal also spots the goblin, but at this point it's already running into the darkness around the corner.
It looks like the passage way to the left climbs up on to the second level, but it's full of stones and rubble.

In Calantha's experience, the direct approach was usually best.
"I say we climb up and hunt that goblin down before it can warn its friends."

As Crom throws the rope over the bridge, you hear in the distance a high pitched shrieking sound.
Any of you familiar with goblins immediately recognize it and know that they are stirring to take action. (Anybody speak goblin?)
There is a moment of silence followed by whacking sounds.

What Ragnarok can make out from the yelling is "Break!" There are more words after that, but the echo of the shrieking makes it hard to understand.
"go on".
Chensica glances nervously up. “I’m not the best climber - think anyone could give me a hand?”
OOC: DM, does the rope make a climb check easier?
Crom abandons his attempt to find firm footing on the cave in and jogs back over to the rope. "Alright, no shame in needin' help, Chesnica. But perhaps I should go up first then, nice and quick, so you aren't as vulnerable while you climb. Then Ragnarok and I can help you out from opposite ends."

(Between Mal holding the rope for you, and Ragnarok helping people up, no check is needed, you just move at half-speed.)
