"Oh no" Elwyn says as the owlbear starts tearing the mule apart. He wills the spectral tentacle to follow the beast, lashing out again with the cold of the deep. He then sidesteps to get a clear shot, reloads, takes a quick aim and fires another bolt at the illuminated owlbear. "Ariana, try to distract it."He shouts across the battlefield. "Daveth, try save the other mule!"
Bonus action: Move tentacle to J16 and then attack with advantage due to faerie fire. Tentacle:18 Cold damage:4 + speed reduced by 10 feet until the start of next turn.
Elwyn - The tentacle surfs forward, spraying icy seawater in its wake. It attempts to lash the owlbear across its back, but just misses, slamming into the ground beside it. Your crossbow bolt does find its mark, burying itself deep into the owlbear's shoulder. Daveth peeks over the top of the wagon on tip-toe, trying to get a look at the terrified mule. Isadore says, "Unbuckle the harness if ye can, but don't get yerself killed over it! We'll try to hold its attention!" Daveth nods and waits for an opportunity to extricate the mule.
Kulogall - The owlbear screeches as your fireball smashes into its side. A large part of its feathers and skin have been seared away and it looks like it's beginning to slow down.
With your Passive Perception of 11, you catch movement in the woods in the direction the owlbear came from. You see a number of humanoid figures slinking through the trees, slowly advancing toward the caravan.

Seeing how Kulogall´s spell burned the side of the owlbear, Ruby will rush to it´s side stabing through the burned feathers and flesh with her shortword. Hoping to buy enough time for Daveth to free the mule.

Ruby - Your dagger strikes deeply into the owlbear and it cries out in pain. Its cry is no longer the ear splitting roar from before and it's back leg crumples when you strike. The large beast flounders for a bit on the ground before managing to stand on shaky legs. It's looking less and less interested in the mule now, whipping its head around, seeking an escape.
You see a large metal collar around the neck of the owlbear, a length of rusty chain dangles from it as the owlbear retreats.
Isadore
Isadore finishes loading his crossbow and fires another bolt at the owlbear. The bolt fires high, sailing through the treetops overhead.
Action: Attack - Crossbow, Attack: 20 Damage: 8
Owlbear
An ear-piercing whistle erupts somewhere in the forest and the owlbear winces and looks around. It lowers its head and limps quickly in the direction it initially came from, leaving a 15ft wide smear of gore and limbs where the mule used to be.
Daveth watches Ruby bury her dagger in the owlbear and decides it's now or never. He bursts from behind the wagon and runs over to the panicked mule. What in the nine hells am I doing!? He thinks to himself as he sees the large, bloody but still terrifying owlbear only feet away. The mule is jerking and kicking wildly as Daveth fumbles for the harness straps. Just when he finally grabs hold of them, a piercing whistle eclipses all other sounds. The owlbear immediately reacts, retreating back the way it came. The still terrified mule lashes out at Daveth with a steel shoed-hoof.
DEX Saving Throw: 4
The mule buries its hoof in Daveth's gut and he is knocked backward onto his back, taking 4 damage.
Wake watches the owlbear break containment and begin fleeing back to its masters. At the same time he hears a “OOOOF” off to his right but out of sight behind the panicked surviving mule still yoked to the second wagon. Wake will yell a reply to Ariana, “HOLD YOUR GROUND! DON’T CHASE!” before he calls down a Sacred Flame from heaven to smite the fleeing beast.
Movement: none
Action: Sacred Flame DC 13 Dex or: 3 radiant damage.

Owlbear DEX Save: 14
Wake - A THUMP and the sound of a pained groan momentarily distract you as you cast your spell, allowing the owlbear to slip past unharmed.
All - The high pitched whistle and retreating owlbear draw your attention to the woods where you see a number of dark human sized figures moving through the trees. The shapes resolve themselves into a band of rough looking men and women of various races. A large human man with a red bandana and a whip on his hip steps into the open. The owlbear approaches him but stops short, reluctant to go any closer. The man smirks and says, "Weapons on the ground and hands in the air. Comply and die quick, resist and... Well, this owlbear still looks a little hungry doesn't it?" At this point you all notice that the owlbear does look a bit lean and those of you that got within melee range noticed long slashes across its body, some old and scarred, but some barely scabbed over. The rest of the bandits appear to be a half-orc woman, a red-haired human woman, an elven woman with brown hair, and a male dwarf with an eye patch.
"You really should reconsider your bargaining techniques." Elwyn shouts defiantly to the apparent bandit leader with the red bandana before repositioning slightly, reloading, aiming and firing in one fluid move a bolt at the owlbear. He then wills the spectral tentacle to float after the severely wounded owlbear, flailing at it again. He then repositions slightly again, taking full cover behind the last cart.
Kulogall moves to M12 and if the owl bear is still standing, still alive he casts a fire bolt at it, but if it is dead he instead sends the bolt of fire at the bandit leader (1).
Fire bolt : Attack: 18 Damage: 7 . Second attack roll for advantage if the owl bear is still up : 14
After this, he shouts out in a booming voice "A quick death versus being killed by an owl bear. You leave us no choice. Your owl bear is looking pretty rough. Here's a different choice for you, set down your weapons and run away or we will kill you all! We will burn you to cinders!"
Intimidation : 21
At the end of that he shouts over to Daveth "Look who it is, Daveth! Time for some revenge, pick up a crossbow or a spear young Daveth."

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Elwyn - Both the crossbow bolt and tentacle strike true. The owlbear reels from the blows and and falls over. It barely manages to stand again, though it is clearly very hurt.
Kulogall - The firebolt zips through the forest toward the owlbear, igniting nearby leaves as it passes. It slams into the owlbear in almost the same spot you had blasted it before, boring a hole into and out the other side of the owlbear. The large creature wails and slumps to the ground, reflexively twitching and gasping. After a few moments, it stops.
The owlbear is DEAD.
All - The Bandit leader looks over at the dead owlbear and back to you, his countenance much less cocky, "So an owlbear for a mule... Fine. We'll go, but we're keeping our weapons." He signals to the others and says, "C'mon! A few wagonloads of junk isn't worth our time." The others retreat deeper into the forest, keeping their eyes on you. The leader is the last to go. He stares contemptuously and practically spits, "You'd better watch your back!" before joining the others.

"We should probably keep an eye out for those bandits, especialy since they managed to "tame" this thing."
Isadore will keep an eye on the departing bandits as he moves over to where Daveth is laying. He looks down at him, confirms that he's still breathing and not on the verge of death, then keeps watch over him until the bandits can no longer be seen.
