"Those do sound delicious, ma'am, but this village is seeing hard times.  I couldn't accept such things without offering some payment in return."

Caine watches Granny's sales pitch with a crooked smile on his face. Has the old smoothie drugged the pies, he wonders to himself. Would be good business.

He keeps careful watch on her eyes as she speaks.

Insight: 21  to see if Granny appears on the level about her pies.

If he doesn't see anything odd about her, Caine will happily select one of meat pies and take a big bite.

"Know anything about this Strahd fella everyone is talking about, Granny?" Caine asks.

"We also seek the advice of a Madam Eva also, is she reliable or your basic rattle bones and take you money type?"

"Yeah, I'm not too sure we should just keep going around talking about what we've been asked to do," Jim mutters to the others. "We don't know who could be a spy for him or who is an enemy of Madam Eva."

whispers..

"Certainly the people here know who is local and who isn't, I doubt we are fooling anyone but I agree, discretion is probably warranted."

Caine chews on the meat pie while Sleet and Jim whisper to each other.

"It's not bad," Caine says around mouthfuls. "Better than my mum's, that's for sure. But she's a horrible baker."

He then points down to the big manor they were heading towards.

"Who lives in that big one down at the end of the lane?"

Nelyna gingerly accepts one of the meat pies from Granny. She eyes it a little nervously at first, but when Caine takes a bite of his pie, she follows suit. After everything they've experienced so far, she feels they can't trust anyone, not even seemingly sweet old grannies.

Razi graciously accepts a maple nut pie.  "Your generosity warms my heart, Granny.  Though I fear information is more dear to us now than even food.  Are you able to answer my friends' questions?"

"Yes, but they don't all need to know the nature of our business," Jim replies to Sleet. Then, never one to turn down a free meal, Jim takes some pie and begins eating. "Thank you, he says between mouthfuls."

"OK Fine, mums the word, I just want to find this Madame Eva and hope she can really see visions.  I would really like to know what happened to my parents and my burrow mates."  

"I don't know if she will have the answers to those questions," Jim says. "She should have the answers to help us on our mission though. We just have to wait until Ireena is ready to travel to Vallaki. Which I think we've still got to wait two days until we can get going."

(What time of day is it?)

"Well that would fit I guess, that was my whole reason for being here.  Certainly not hunting down some vampire."

Caine thanks Granny for the pie. After waiting a moment he seems satisfied that she probably doesn't have answers to their questions.

"Let's keep going," Caine says. "That manor isn't getting any closer."

If Granny doesn't answer any of the questions, Caine continues on to the manor and knocks on the front door.

Jim nods head, "Thank you for your help."

Then he turns to Caine, "Yes, let's get going. I want to investigate this manor."

"Thank you, Granny, for the pies and for the information," Nelyna thanks the old woman.

Once the others have made their way to the manor, Caine knocks on the door again.

"Maybe they can't hear us?  Should I knock on the door?  and I mean KNOCK on the door.  I have had enough of this place."
