The giant rat snarls at Pru. It's yellow teeth glisten in the torch light. Aranor hoists Pru up. On the pedestal, Pru glances around, the other giant rat still trying to climb up the back side. The form is a female dwarf. Slightly larger than Pru. The dwarf continues to struggle.
The dwarf sits up and looks around, wriggling fingers and toes. "No, the rats aren't responsible. I was traveling up from the coast, and someone ambushed me at a crossroads, brought me here, tied me up, and left. They never said why."
"Shoo!" She tells the rat at the base of the pedestal.
"Thanks ever so much for freeing me." She smiles gratefully at her halfling rescuer. "I'm Beryl."
Beryl sits on the edge and looks down. She is wary of simply jumping to a hard cave floor more than twice her height down. "Ah, can someone give me a hand?"
She looks around the cave, as long she's up there. Maybe she can spot the gear her captors took from her.
Aranor looks up at the dwarven woman and chivalrously extends a hand to help her down.
"Pleasure to meet you, Beryl," says the moon elf in his usual, slightly haughty tone. "Aranor Nightstar at your service, knight errant and adventurer."
As you start to make your way to the cave entrance, the giant rats let out an abominable hiss. The smaller rats charge the opening, bypassing you anyway they can as if they're running for their lives. As Beryl and Aranor exit the cave, the two giant rats charge.
Beryl faces the rats, wishing she had her focus and maybe her staff. But she's not completely defenseless, and she decides on a spell that needs merely a few whispered words and a quick gesture to direct the power.

This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?

“So an errant knight, are you?” Pru says with a mischievous smile on her face. “And here I thought you were a proper gentleman.”
Pru skips back into the cave. Both rats look pretty rough already, but stepping up to the liveliest looking if the two, she thrusts out her rapier and attempts to skewer the rodent.
She begins to draw her dagger too in case there will be need for that as well.
Aranor shakes his head. He isn't used to being questioned like this. Why does he feel like he has to explain himself? He can't help himself from saying, "I am a proper gentleman, from a noble family in fact. I'm only errant in the sense that I enjoy my freedom and ability to go where I please, no longer beholden to my family."
Even as he explains this, he is annoyed with himself. He shouldn't have to prove himself to a halfling and a tiefling of all people. He puts on his most disdainful frown.
Once Pru is satisfied that the other giant rat is staying clear, she throws her hands up like a young toddler and says "Up" to Aranor.
"How's about you two keep an eye on these giant rats?" Pru says to Aranor and Kaladin. "There's one trying to climb up the other side here."
She the stows her rapier and pulls out a dagger and sets to work on the ropes holding the dwarf down.
"So, what brings you around here?" Pru asks cheerfully as she works at freeing the captive. "I don't suspect the rats did this."
She pause for a moment, brushes several loose strands of red hair our of her eyes and quickly looks down at the giant rats.
"They didn't, did they?"
The dwarf sits up and looks around, wriggling fingers and toes. "No, the rats aren't responsible. I was traveling up from the coast, and someone ambushed me at a crossroads, brought me here, tied me up, and left. They never said why."

@All. Hi! If I could figure out how to add a picture of Beryl, I would. Her character sheet has a headshot:
Beryl
Pru hops up to her full height, all 3' of it, and then does an exaggerated bow as Beryl introduces herself.
"Prucey Bramblecheeks at your service." Pru says. "But you can call me Pru. There's a lot of nastiness going on around here."
She casts an eye down at the rats again.
"How's about we continue this outside?" Pru says then looks back to Aranor and Kaladin. "All right. Coming down."
Pru swings her legs around and starts scrambling down the pedestal, assuming Aranor or Kaladin will help her down if she runs into trouble.
"Let's get out of here."
Beryl sits on the edge and looks down. She is wary of simply jumping to a hard cave floor more than twice her height down. "Ah, can someone give me a hand?"
She looks around the cave, as long she's up there. Maybe she can spot the gear her captors took from her.

"Is that surprising?" Aranor glances over at the tiefling. That was when the two giant rats began their charge, and he unsheathed his sword.
