"It might be invisible, but it is a tough and determined opponent, I must admit" mutters Khessa, who again tries to combine steel and fire against the monster.

Gryrim, having been caught daydreaming, bursts into action. In a wild frenzy he unleashes the otherworldly energy from within. He somehow sends two amber blobs in the direction he imagines the creature to be. "How does this thing stay invisible even when we hit it! Cursed creature...take THIS!"

"Thank you very much for the support, Zephyros!" Khessa smiles brightly "That damned invisible thing, quick-attacking and hard-hitting as it was, was really giving us trouble. Your spell really turned the tide of the battle."
The tall arcane warrior then turns to Ev'alish, for he had been hit by the monster's last attack... With relief she realizes that her beloved(*) has hardly suffered any consequences. She strokes him briefly where he was hit: "Still hard as a rock, huh, dear? Or a block of ice should I say? Come on then," she kneels, concerned, on her tabaxi mentor "help me with Mistress Kramyra, who has suffered much greater injuries. I just stopped the bleeding, but we need to take care of her. Thankfully, these clouds are so soft that they should be comfortable for her to rest. But it's better that we cover her with a blanket to keep her from getting cold and check that she has no broken bones... Luckily, Kan will be able to heal her completely once he regains some magical power."
The blonde warrior-mage also also calls her children from their hiding place: "Yondra! Sarvin! It's all right now." she embraces them as they come back "We were right to be careful, you see? The people who arrived were evil. More than evil, ultra-evil! You know they wanted to cause the death of all living things in the world? Could you ever imagine such a thing? But we prevented them from doing it. Dad(*)" she proudly points at the silver dragonborn "just dispatched the last of them, an invisible killer who struck treacherously, without pity and without being seen! Look what he has done to poor Mistress Kramyra... The killer knew she could reduce him to ashes, so her has been the first one he hurled himself on! But in the end, Zephyros helped us too and we managed to beat even such an opponent."
She then takes care of Mistress Kramyra (with the help - or at least the company - of Yondra and Sarvin) as best she can, until the tabaxi wizards feels better and wakes up.
One thing she points out, for the benefit of his children, who seemed to be thinking of a career as a warrior or adventurer: "You see, children? The adventuring career sounds great... Mighty enemies... Exciting dangers... And you often find yourself making the difference between life and death for many people. But, if you're good, it's also a life full of pain. Survive many fights, but always at a price. Each fight leaves its marks. If you are good, after many, many fights, you will have suffered much more than any of your enemies. And if you're not good... well, then you die instead. So think about it, eh, if when you grow up this is the job you want to do? Growing cabbage is less exciting, but also a lot less painful!" she winks "And still know that whatever job you'll want to do when you grow up, Dad(*) and I will love you and help you. We love you for who you are, not the work you will choose."
(*) Yes, I admit, here you are missing information, something that happened during the very first days of travel; I didn't have time to post it before the encounter with the cultists took place. I will update you soon.
(*) This is the promised update - This is what happened in the morning of the second day of flying-tower-travel:
Khessa wakes up more enthusiastic than usual; after preparing something healthy for their children to eat and conducting their usual morning exercise routine with them, he takes them by the hand and they go to Ev'alish together.
Khessa literally shines with joy as she announces, "Yondra! Sarvin! Do you remember that since I introduced you to Ev'alish you have been talking highly of him to me all the time?" in case they don't remember, the blonde warrior-wizard refreshes their memory with a few quotes " 'Mom, is it true that Ev'alish threw himself at the dragonlike breath of the Cave's Abomination to protect you all?' 'Mom, how good are the snow cones that Ev'alish invented!' 'Hey, look Mom! Ev'alish carries us on his back!' 'Mom, do you like Ev'alish? Because we do...' "
The children hang from her lips, while she, after a short pause, continues: "Well! You must know that I tonight celebrated an extremly powerful magical ritual and thus discovered that Ev'alish also loves you very much! He loves you so much, that, in order to be close to you, he has accepted to become your dad! Obviously, this means that he will have to be close to me too and take care of me too... but, for your sake, he is willing to face even such a challenging task!" she winks "How about hugging him and letting him know how welcome he is in our family?"
(...and from that day on, it's pretty clear that Khessa and Ev'alish's relationship has grown into something deeper than a friendship between fellow adventurers.)

Ev'alish stows his axes and retrieves his pike, planting it in the ground next to the group. He walks toward the unconscious wizard, giving Khessa a warm nod but focusing most of his attention on whether Kramyra is alright. "I art fine, thee hath taken more of a blow than I hath. Let us see to Kramyra... she shalt waketh soon, though we shalt remain vigilant and bring her back to the shelter of the keep, just in case. Kan? Gryrim? Khessa? Art thou alright? I should haveth shielded more blows from thee, my apologies. Zephyros, my thanks to you for your assistance. Doth thee have any healing spells for our friend?"
He looks up as he spots the children scampering toward him and the rest of the group, and puts a hand out. "No. Returneth to the keep, posthaste. We know not for sure whether reinforcements of the enemy remain. 'Tis not safe just yet."His voice is calm, steady, and level, yet tinged with a hint of genuine worry as he surveys the clouds for any other danger. (Perception: 8)
The silver dragonborn shakes his head. "Cultists of an elemental evil brazenly going around, sowing destruction. These are dangerous times, indeed."
"I just wonder if they might have something to do with our 'ordning' issue" reflects Khessa. "Causing such a thing would advance their mad plans... I would have liked to question the last of them, but he self-killed at the last moment"

“What do you suppose these boogers wanted all the way up here? Hold of them to come to a giant’s castle.”
Ev'alish slowly turns his spined head. "They art looking for 'the master of the tower'. Mayhaps they were looking to threaten the life of Master Zephyros, or use him in their schemes for world destruction."
"Why don't we see if Zephyros knows why they would seek an audience." He turns towards the giant. "Well? We're waiting. Why would this scum come for your council?"
Khessa, while gently takes her tabaxi mentor in her arms and carries her inside the keep, accompanied by her children, replies to the proud dragonborn: "Caution is never too much, my dear, so we will listen to your advice and go inside, but I don't think there will be reinforcements. Should they be here already, they would have intervened by now. Can't you see that Kan stays up only because the wind isn't blowing too strong? What better time would they have to strike? And I don't think they're coming also... These cultists looked as if they had spotted us by chance: they didn't even know the name of the 'master of the tower' they wanted to talk to so badly! Neither they were ready for us: selling them a lie has been a child's play. I think they simply saw us and came to try to make a new ally; you know, a wizard who knows owns a flying tower is not found every day! And when Zephyros hadn't shown interest, they would have tried to take the tower by force, assassinating him with their invisible monster. The only doubt I have, is whether there could be a plot by this Yan-C-Bin behind the breaking of the ordning, but this we will not be able to find out now".
Once inside the tower, Khessa continues to take care of Kramyra, assisted by Yondra and Sarvin, as she started to do outside. She makes Ev'alish cool a bowl of water (as he has a way to do it quickly) and begins to run a cloth drenched in cold water over the bruises left by the brutal assault. "It will be all well, Mistress Kramyra..." the warrior-mage murmurs softly to her mentor and she continues to take care of her until she regains consciousness.
(OOC: I think Kramyra may wake up and resume playing with us, if she likes... Nothing special is likely to happen before she wakes up)
"You did what do you best, Mistress Kramyra!" smiles Khessa, visibly relieved, caressing her mentor on the cheeck "You burned the vast majority of the enemies to ashes, effectively ensuring our victory! Sadly, the cultists had just unleashed a very nasty invisible monster, that treacherously attacked you and took you down before anyone of us had the chance to protect you. It has been a nightmare to fight it... Do you see how Kan too has been so severly beaten? The monster was able to retain its invisibility even when attacking... so it was free to choose its prey, come near undisturbed, and strike both quickly and hard. Both my dear Ev'alish and I tried our best to draw thee monster's attention upon us, but with not much success. You see, that terrible thing was also resistant to our weapons, so we were only a minor threat, compared to the spellcasters."
"Oh, but you know what, Mistress Kramyra?" has an idea the blonde arcane warrior "Zephyros, in his spellbook, has a spell that could have saved you. I'm still not experienced enough to understand it in full, but I'm pretty sure that YOU are! With that spell, you can create illusory duplicates of yourself, so that even the most precise and deadly blows can miss you... because the attacker has a good chance to target one of the illusory images instead of you! Zephyros already agreed, the first time he met us, to share knowledge with us, so you could copy the spell in your spellbook, if you like it and if you have the money... And as for the money, I could lend you some if you need."
(OOC: The spell Khessa is talking about is Mirror image, a 2nd level illusion spell, so it would cost you 100gp to copy it, if you like... Khessa can lend as much as 50gp if needed)
"I art glad to see thou art awake and alright, Kramyra. Thou hast fought well." Ev'alish nods respectfully to his tabaxi companion. "I desire that the next foe we face not be so elusive, so that I might protect thee better."
