This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"It has consumed the goblin in a few heartbeats!" Is shocked Khessa "Its digesting capabilities must be devastating. Remember to keep distance at all cost!"
Khessa turns a moment to Ev'alish: "Piercing seems not very effective. Maybe bludgeoning would be better... The Blob did not take on the club-armed ogres, after all. You might try throwing rocks or wooden clubs next time. Or oil. If you can oil it, my spells will ignite the oil and do some more damage to this rampaging pudding."
As you move back, you see a black ooze squirm out of the stalactite, and gruesomely devour the goblin bait. Within seconds, the goblin is nothing but bones.
Initiatives:
Blob: 3
Gryrim: 15
Khessa: 18
Boss Pojo: 19
Sorjen: 23
Ev'alish: 13
Kramyra: 11
Kan: 5
Missing the 3 guards that are still with us (noticed only now)
"Well that's a strange hiding place" Gryrim exclaims as the ooze reveals its housing within the stalactite. Watching as it completely devours the goblin, he recoils at the ferocious appetite of the goo. As the javelin all but bounces of the gelatinous flesh Gryrim recalls his curse that he had laid upon the ogre. He combines the thought of that curse and their new enemy, transferring the effects to the Blob. Once satisfied the Blob is hexed he releases the now common place amber splash and directs it straight at the Blob.
BA - Redirect Hex to the Blob (affecting Wis saves)
With the plans discussed Sorjen followed the group as they made their way to the blob. His mind wandering if stealth couldn’t help them to avoid another fight. Unlikely, he though. Going by what Pojo had described the creature, if it was a creature at all, didn’t have eyes or ears yet could its unfortunate food. That could only mean one thing, the blob was able to physically sense presences in another manner entirely. One that probably could only be avoided by magic.
It didn’t take long from the thing itself to appear, dissolving the goblin bait and starting a fight. The rangers saw as the different attacks have different degrees of success. Arrows were unlikely to work, but he had his share of torches.
“Try to keep distance. Avoid melee if possible.” He said thinking on how fast the goblin was dissolved. The likelihood of a weapon meeting the same fate was enough to discourage any attempt at close range combat. “And I got ten torches with me.”
Faster than he expected, the half-elf graps one of them and lighting it aflame. Necessity is the of invention and improvisation, it seems. A last thought before he throws the improvised weapon.
“Well, now I have nine.” He mentions putting as much distance as he can between him and the ooze.
Notes: Sorjen throws a torch at the blob and moves his 30ft away from it.
Kramyra watches as the blob emerges from it's hiding place. So, she thinks, that is what a blob looks like. It sure devoured the bait quickly and easily for that matter. She knows that they have most likely bigger enemies yet to face, so she is going to save her last spell slot for what is to come.
She raises her paws and casts the cantrip chill touch yet again, hoping to slow the creature down. Attack: 15 Damage: 2 necrotic
Khessa places the bite, cast Light as planned on the goblin's clothing and says: "Let's go 40' back, ready to range The Blob"
And that she does, ready to let loose a Fire bolt at any time.
Perception (if needed): 12
Ev'alish positions himself about thirty feet away and throws a javelin, then backs to 35 feet.
Attack: 11 Damage: 7
"It has consumed the goblin in a few heartbeats!" Is shocked Khessa "Its digesting capabilities must be devastating. Remember to keep distance at all cost!"
Then it's Fire bolt time: Attack: 11 Damage: 4
After that, she retreats until she is about 40' from The Blob.
