He watched as Khessa became defensive in response to Kan’s comment. Sorjen doubted the elf tried to recriminate the blonde’s decision. Rather the artificer was likely to imply pertinent questions. Was the wizard fighter sure the children had no other family that would take them in? Would her stop her adventuring career to take care of them or carry them around in her dangerous quest? How would she feed the kids? Before he could voice any of that another village appeared with another mission for them.
“Count me in, but for now, let us finish the search in the area.” The ranger said, not forgetting the threat of the remaining goblins. It didn’t take long for them to investigate the last of the buildings, making sure no raider remained alive. Another victory he took to bed.
The next day he awoke completely rested. He could feel his magic abilities stronger and Gwyllt remained by his side. Both of them spoke before breakfast, learning about the fighting styles and abilities of the other. Satisfied the duo arrived at the breakfast table.
“You didn’t need to, but thank you, Godric. It is amazing.” He said taking his food while Khessa and Kan discussed the elf’s abilities. It was good to see no enmity sprouted between then. “I would like to trade for a rapier. I just have five gold, but I am willing to give my short swords and everything I got from the goblins.” He could only hope this would be enough. That and that the blacksmith would open for business. “We will need to close all the entrances if we are still going to use the smoke plan.”
"Too many ways to close and too many to watch, Shadow Stalker" reflects Khessa. "Even should we ever be able to seal all of them, enemies could choose any to escape... We would need to divide to keep watch on all of them. So only part of us could end up fighting the whole wave of enemies. I'd simply say we use one of the other entrances. If we have enough rope, we might choose the most unexpected - the chimney. But anyway, even if we choose one if the others, we might be able to surprise them. They do not know what we know"
“I suggesteth using the other ground entrance. The chimney doth descent into Hark’s chambers, so the lead climbers shalt be under attack while the others lag behind. Not optimal.” Ev’alish warns.
Kramyra smiles as Sorjen and Gwyllt join them. She greets Gwyllt in draconic, "mel'nakit, ulhar ir. si vorq forward ekess tepohair wux ossalur mrith udoka"
good morning, blue one. I look forward to having you travel with us
She then stands up and stretches a good cat-like stretch and replies to Khessa, "I also have 50' of rope. I have learned how to cast web as well so once we find the vile beings, I can try and hold them in one place."
Kan touches Eva’s weapon again to cause it to light up. (5 feet bright) And starts to walk again. “Let’s not make this complicated. They’re in there and we should go get them.”
“I suggesteth using the other ground entrance. The chimney doth descent into Hark’s chambers, so the lead climbers shalt be under attack while the others lag behind. Not optimal.” Ev’alish warns.
"I was assuming the chimney would not lead directly in the middle of the main chamber," replies Khessa "but, thinking about it, should I ever be right, we are so many... we might cause enough noise to attract unwanted attention, while descending. Another ground entrance will be good enough. But let's still approach that other ground entrance coming from the top of the hill, from above, I'd advise. So, if we'll find external ledges there also, we will be able to see ledges and sentinels and maybe to attack from above and with surprise. Oh," it comes now to her mind "and let's resume the good habit we had to let Shadow Stalker scout ahead of us. That gave us advantage many times while freeing Nightstone".
She speaks now to all the Cabbage Patch Companions: "If nobody has other ideas or objections... let's go!"
“I am not really blue, but thank you.”Gwyllt said rising his horned snout from his piece of meat. Sorjen didn’t even need to ask for the drake to be fed. Godrick had already put a generous piece of meat to spirit that in turn was eating it to the bone.
The half-elf considered to ask if Kramyra had seen magic like that of his bond before. A creature that could have its essence changed every time that conjured. It sounded strange, almost wrong, in comparison with anything else he heard about draconic creatures. Maybe the tabaxi could make sense of it. Before he could find out the strategy discussion got deeper.
“With our numbers, I wouldn’t say there are too many, but we wouldn’t be able to use the smoke without closing the chimney and I would guess Hark would hear if we tried to deal with that.”Then Hark as his followers would have the chance to scape and all their effort in helping the village would be nothing but provocation for a new, harsher attack. “I’m with Kan, just let me talk with the guards and see if I can get a better blade. Meet you at the gates.”
He said leaving the table, his plate, surprisingly enough, already clean. Eating fast was part of his ranger training, after all. Gwyllt followed close behind. It shouldn’t take long for them to reach the keep were most of the guards used to stay.
Khessa whispers: "Shadow Stalker, would you like to scout ahead? If we can take the eventual goblins by surprise, we will have it easier... We will follow a few steps (maybe 10?) behind you. Raise a hand if you wish us to stop"
As fast as he could Sorjen made his way towards the keep. There he was attended by two guards that looked at Gwyllt with some unease. Fortunately, this time the drake had not tried to smile. Instead, he waved his head, closing the eyes, for the confusion of the soldiers. A brief explanation later and they had guided the ranger towards their leader. Explaining the plan to have battle against the remaining goblins the half-elf asked to trade for a rapier, offering what little coin he had and his two shortswords. The captain answered offered a common blade that, according to him, used to be carried by the departed Lady Nadar and promptly rejected any attempt of payment from the half-elf under the pretext that he had paid many times over the price of the weapon with the help the group of adventurers had offered to the village. Time was short, so the archer accepted the deal and departed to the village gate.
Better equipped he followed his companions and ten or so guards that accompanied them to the goblin cave. Shortly after their arrival Khessa asked if he wouldn’t like to scout ahead.
“With pleasure, Golden Locks.” He says in an almost relaxed tone. “It will be probably be best if you guys stay around twenty-five feet behind and out of sight. This way it will be unlikely any enemy notices you and if things go awry, you can rush and help me.”
Before leaving, Sorjen translates the conversation to the drake and says for him to stay behind, then advances with the bow on hand, trying to be as silent as he possibly could.
Notes: Sorjen leaves his drake companion behind and scouts ahead stealthy.
Khessa is curious about what Ev'alish finds out about those mushrooms... They did not look anything special to her; but she is not a mushrooms expert, after all.
She chooses to follow Sorjen, 25' behind, like he advised, ready for a fight. Better to focus on the possibile threats posed by Hark's goblins. Should Ev'alish discover something of interest, he will most likely tell the others what they should know.
"Good" Khessa thinks to herself, as Ev'alish reveals the nature of the mushrooms. "Should we ever need a poison, now we know where to get it. I'd take some samples... if only I had where to put them safely. But I don't, so better to keep following Sorjen. We might find goblins soon".

Leaving the mushrooms be, Ev'alish moves to follow close behind the others. "We draw near the former boss' chambers. Stay quiet."
