After entering the stables, Shrek found himself entranced by the horses. As the rest of the crew chatted with this the farrier, he found himself drawn to the horses, scratching them behind the ears and giving them nibbles from his hard tack ration.
Confused about the plan of action, he ended up following Ankita around, as she seemed to be the most on-the-level member of the group. (See what I did there…)
When finally given direction, he proudly climbs down the ladder into the gloomy darkness below.
All - The tunnel is brick walled with stone tile flooring. It leads southward for about 25ft before turning east. The eastern portion terminates after 5ft. The wall before you bears a seam the size of a door and hinges, leading you to believe this could be the back of some hidden door. Low, droning chanting can be heard emanating from the area beyond the secret door.
Damian & Ankita recognize the language being chanted as Infernal and discern it to be praise heaped upon the archdevil Zariel for her tireless effort to win something called the Blood War.
"Oh man, well we've definitely run into something if we can get past this door. I'm worried it is only one way. They are chanting about Zariel and her win with The Blood War? Damian, do you know anything about that?" Ankita whispers. She tries to see if there is anyway to open the door from this end.
Ankita - There is a small handle set into the door near the seam opposite the hinges. A gentle pull upon it causes it to open slightly toward you. You can tell that it is not locked.
Damian - With Azrael's help, you recall the following regarding the Blood War:
Throughout history, the teeming hordes of the Abyss and the strictly regimented legions of the Nine Hells have battled for supremacy in the cosmos. In the mortal world, the scant few scholars, arcanists, and adventurers who know the conflict for what it is refer to it as the Blood War.
The fighting takes place across the Lower Planes, on the Material Plane, and anywhere else that demons and devils might congregate. From time to time, demons spill out of the Abyss to invade Avernus, the uppermost layer of the Nine Hells. While the devils defend their home turf, they also make strikes against locations in the Abyss. Although the intensity of the conflict waxes and wanes, and the front lines of the war can shift drastically, a moment never goes by when demons and devils aren’t battling each other somewhere in the multiverse.

Shrek pokes his head in through the door to get a visual lay-of-the-land (Perception: 16) so he has an understanding of what the room looks like, where the chanting is coming from, etc. Once he's captured a visual layout of the room in his head, he'll pull his head back into the hallway, and whisper to the rest of the team a description of what he saw.

All - Any who would peek into the chamber would see that two rows of tall wrought-iron candlesticks light this vaulted chamber, each one bearing nine flickering candles. A seven-foot-tall statue of an angel with white glowing eyes and a longsword stands atop a dais to the south. A six-foot-tall fiend bristling with spines stands west of the statue, glaring at four black-robed cultists who kneel and chant in the middle of the room, their faces hidden behind golden devil masks. Nine tapestries depicting the layers of the Nine Hells adorn the walls. The Barbed Devil holds up a long fingered hand and the chanting stops. It speaks in infernal, "It seems we have company ye faithful of Zariel..." It turns its head to regard the secret door, "Let us give them an Avernian welcome!"

Remi has gained Surprise upon the Barbed Devil and the Cultists.
Sam gets a line of sight on the Cultist and draws his lute from his back. He slides his finger along the strings, drawing a thin line of his own blood across them. As his hand reaches the end he strums, releasing a dissonant chord in the direction of the cultist.
Remi steps into the room and slashes at the barbed devil with his shorts swords, then moves away without provoking an attack, then moves to the square northeast of the second leftward x.
