Day turns towards the voice of the young girl and says, “There’s no one here by that name young one. I suggest you find shelter or remain with us; there are dire wolves prowling these lands.”
A young girl in a red cloak and embroidered grey dress steps out of the fog, sparks leaping between her hands. Her fine clothing marks her as a noble. Though her words may be fierce, her eyes are wide with fear.
(Arcana check if you want to identify the sparks.)
Xai'Bo carries on following the group, now more confident that these folk are more likely potential allies than enemies. He reaches the iron gates and regards the statues as the gate opens. He knows that all pretence of stealth has gone, as the creaking would be heard for some distance, and the mist had retreated leaving a fog bordering the road. A fog he did not want to enter. So he merely walks down the the centre of the cobbled road towards the group.
He approaches them as they are talking to what appears to be a young girl, and stops a short distance away, leaning on his staff waiting for them to notice him.
Mavis quirks his eyebrow when a voice of a very young girl came from the fog. His eyes scans the fog that seems to have directed the group toward this particular girl for some reason with curiosity, disbelief, and a little bit of suspicion.
As he looks around to check on the gate they have passed, he tenses when he notices a man leaning on a staff, almost unseen due to his clothing blending with the forest background. His mind tells him to be suspicious, but somehow he knows that if the man wanted to attack, he would have already done so.
'Friend or foe?' Mavis asked to the person as the other talks to the young girl. He moves a step closer to the man, hoping that a close distance will prove beneficial if the man proves to be an enemy. 'Are you also displaced like us?'

Sirron was just about to say something when he heard Mavis speak and for a moment he turned to see who or what he might have been speaking to. He looked slightly surprised when he saw a man or what he assumed to be a man leaning against a staff a short distance from them. He mumbles something under his breath before turning back to face the girl. "Trust me when I say that we mean you no harm young lady we are simply worried about your safety. As Day has said there are ... dire wolves... prowling about or at least there were back on the other side of the gate." He paused for a second before slowly reaching for one of his instruments. "I do not recall running into anyone by the name of Thorn but if you are in need of help to search for them then maybe we could help you."
“Friend, I am hoping” Xai’Bo replies. “I am Xairenthis Borielsis, but I am accustomed to being called Xai’Bo”. He thinks for a second “Displaced?….that sounds about right. I entered the Svalich Woods and……I cannot explain it, but I awoke in the woods back there” He points back the way they had come. “In truth, I have been following your party trying to figure out if you are friend or foe?”

"Ooo," Melantha peeks out from behind Oron, more interested in the sparks in the girl's hands than her apparent inquiry. "Few young ones can ready their magic like that. You must have been born with that prowess~"
The girl hesitates, but decides to trust you. "Thorn's my little brother- he shouldn't have run that far." she says nervously. "He got scared and I couldn't keep up with him when we were trying to get out of the house."
The sparks are gone now, but you recognise them as a sign of the Shocking Grasp cantrip.
Ruel his senses on high alert since the incident with the Dire Wolf, is a little perturbed by the current flurry of events and pauses a while to take it all in.
The sudden appearance of the girl and the elf were unexpected and he wanted to ensure that he had a grip on the situation.
He felt though that currently force of arms wasn't required and sheathed his longsword
Ruel his first priority being those apparently in need of help stepped towards Sirron and the little girl. "My companion here speaks the truth young lady we are strangers to this land and if I can help you find Thorn, then I will, but can you help us, where are we and what is your name young one."
OOC let's hope Thorn isn't a ravenous Dire Wolf!

Oron keeps his distance from the newly arrived little girl and Xai’Bo, keeping an eye on both, since as of right now, he can't be sure who is friendly and who is foe. "Listen miss, Unless this Thorn is a wolf, or a tree, or a puddle."
Day responds to her with a soft smile, “Well, lost would imply that we have a destination in mind. We are merely wanderers through this strange land. Tell me, where did you last see your little brother? We may be able to track him before he ends up getting himself in danger.” Day takes out his notebook to write down what the girl says.
"He ran outside when the fog started rising from the basement." Rose says, then a horrified look crosses her face. "I left Walter in there! I have to go back for him!"
If no-one intervenes, Rose turns and runs back up the path, disappearing into the fog.
Melantha moves up from behind Oron, their expression that of genuine concern.
"Erm...you and Thorn and Walter have been living in a house by yourselves?"
In their mind, however, they wondered how one living being could forget another living being like that when something as dangerous as this fog appears?
'Join us then,' Mavis says to Xai'Bo. He is still tense due to the appearance of the new man, but feels that numbers will bring safety for the moment if what the man said is true. 'Best travel together than by your lonesome.'
He turns back to where the young girl has been talking to his traveling companions. He catches the end of the young girl's admission before she tries to move back the way she came, seemingly to return into the dense fog.
Mavis moves closer toward the young girl, Rose, in a gentle and slow manner. He kneels in front of her and looks into her eyes. 'Calm down, young miss,' Mavis says, trying to calm her down and prevent her from going back into the fog. He has a feeling that the fog is dangerous from the way she says her brother was fleeing from it. 'We will help you, but you need to explain the situation to us more. Can you tell us if there is another path other than this one that your brother might take during his fearful escape? Perhaps he might travel that way to find him? And who is this Walter? Is he another brother that requires help? Is the fog so dangerous that your brothers fear it and flee from it?'
"The only path here goes to the village. No-one can get past the gates." Rose says. "Walter's tiny. Mother doesn't like him much and says he isn't our brother. The fog hasn't hurt me, Thorn's just a scaredy-cat. He's probably hiding nearby."
Sirron took note of what Rose was saying and frowned slightly. "Your mother doesn't like Walter and told you that he isn't your brother, that seems pretty messed up... even if he wasn't your brother by blood that doesn't mean he couldn't be considered your brother." He lowered his hand slowly and glanced at the others for a moment. "Now this is a bit of a long shot but is it possible that if he isn't hiding around here that he might be hiding somewhere down the path heading to the village?"
Rose bites her lip and says nothing about the comments about her mother, instead just saying "Maybe. I think I should search around the house first though."

“Thank you, may the Tree of Life nourish and protect you”, Xai’Bo replies to Mavis. He calmly walks round the group so he is between the girl and the path filled with fog, listening to the conversation between the girl and the others as he walks.
When he reaches the edge of the fog he will say in Elvish “Tree of Life give me your guidance”, and then he starts looking for tracks.
