Xai'Bo smiles as she meets his gaze. "You are brave little one. Your mother is in the basement you think but where might Walter be, and how will we recognise them?", he asks still not surely exactly who, or what, Walter was.

'Ah, there's your brother Thorn returned safely,' Mavis says to Rose with a small smile when Thorn hugs his sister.
Despite outwardly showing a smile, his smile is strained and full of suspicion. This time, his suspicion is directed toward the parents of the children that seems to be endangering their children by invoking these fog. Perhaps it is merely a simple spell, but the wrongness in the fog proves otherwise since he and his travelling companions arrives in this land. Both his mind and guts tell him that there is something wrong happening within the house, but without proof, he cannot accuse some stranger out of nowhere.
'Would you like us to escort you and your brother home to your mother, then, young miss?' Mavis asks to Rose hesitantly. 'Do you think you feel safe enough there after the fog? Or perhaps there are other family members that we can find or call for you to stay with until the fog disappears?'
{Can I Insight (15) to see whether there are signs that the children has lived in a less than stellar environment as well as whether the children wants to return to their home?}
"We're not staying with Dimov." Rose says with a sudden ferocity, as Thorn hides behind her. "We have to make sure Mother and Walter are alright."
The children seem outwardly healthy, but what Rose mentioned about her mother continues to bother you. She seems determined to return home, but you cannot confirm or deny that her stated motive for doing so is genuine.
Xai'Bo looks at Rose and says, "We will help find your Mother and Walter". He looks towards the others, "Right?".
He stands and checks to see if Oron is still ready to lead them into the house. Nodding at him he moves closer to the house, taking a firmer grip around his staff and equipping his shield, just in case.
Xai'Bo is ready to go in when everyone else is, and he will cast Guidance on himself right before they move.
Ruel nods in assent to Xai'Bo, he still had his concerns but on the face of it there was a mother and a young baby trapped in that house and even though they had no evidence yet that the fog was harmful. His newly attuned divine senses had evoked the smell of sewerage when concentrating in the fog surely this wasn't good, but if there was a chance that innocent lives could be saved he had to help.
Shield firmly gripped to his arm Ruel prepared to enter the house. He looked back to Rose and Thorn "Come little ones, it is not safe out here and we have need of two brave adventurers to help us rescue your mother and brother."
{Mavis will follow if the others are ready to go into the house. As before, he will mostly be near the back of the group. If the group still stay to converse with the children, Mavis will keep his silence and wait.}
As his traveling companions walk by him, Mavis whispers to those closest to him, taking care not to be overheard by the children. 'Be wary. Everything the children have said seems conflicting, especially concerning their mother and this fog. From what I can take from their retelling, they seem to both care and fear their mother at the same time.'
Melantha, who was standing the closest to the children, moved away to follow the group. They were able to hear Mavis, and whisper back: "This sounds like a possible case of a domineering authoritarian parent...in such that the mother is the provider of their needs, but at the same time an overbearing strict controller of their lives...a shy distance away from being considered child ab--"
The green one paused as a thought came to mind, which had the rest of the group move ahead of them. Being a few inches from the entrance door, they turned to Rose and Thorn and asked: "Is your mother a spell caster? Does she go down to the basement often?"
Seeing the readiness to enter the house, Day says, “Maybe we should knock. The children live here but we are uninvited. Getting on the right foot with their parents will be more beneficial than being seen as trespassers.” Fawx will take to the air (staying within 100 feet) and communicate if he sees anything suspicious.

Hearing Day's suggestion to knock, Xai'Bo shrugs and helpfully reaches his staff out passed Oron and raps it on the door 3 times. He then listens for sounds coming from within.
He stays relatively quiet as he thinks about the conflicting details in what the children had said up until that point. Initially he'd believed that it could have been because they were scared or because to them the party were strangers and they didn't feel comfortable telling strangers about what had happened but now he wasn't sure what to think. Then he heard the questions about their mother and a sinking feeling began to hit him.
He looked at the others with a worried expression before finally speaking. "I once knew this noblewoman who killed her husband so she could be with her lover and when she found out her son had witnessed the crime she threatened to kill him as well if he told anyone about what she had done. That might be what is going on here and although I hope that's not the case, they seem like decent enough kids even though the inconsistencies in what they've been saying does make me wonder." His voice dropped to a whisper, hoping that the children wouldn't hear the last part.
As a side note, Day’s complexion and color started shifting upon arrival at the forest and he is now fully in his winter form. His skin turned from amber to baby blue, and his hair went from burgundy to navy. ((I’ve been playing him too cautiously for his Summer form, so once he switches back I’ll remember to play him more boldly))
The green one walked alongside the children into the house. Once again, Melantha's expression changed to that of concern...this time for the both of them.
"I Solemnly State That Your Mother Is Up to No Good." They answered. "You are right to believe that she may have caused the fog to appear inside the basement. If she is doing this, she is knowingly putting you and your brothers in danger."
They look ahead to what lies inside the first room of the house encountered. "And as people who don't like it when children are in danger, we're going to tell your mother to stop that."
"It is." Rose says, looking up to meet your gaze.
Xai'Bo smiles as she meets his gaze. "You are brave little one. Your mother is in the basement you think but where might Walter be, and how will we recognise them?", he asks still not surely exactly who, or what, Walter was.

Rose smiles weakly. "Walter stays in the nursery on the third floor. He's not hard to recognise, he's the only baby here." she says.
"We're not staying with Dimov." Rose says with a sudden ferocity, as Thorn hides behind her. "We have to make sure Mother and Walter are alright."

"Don't wanna go there." Thorn mumbles, clinging tighter to Rose.
"They saw wolves out here, Thorn. Staying with them is safer." his sister answers. "It'll be okay."
Thorn grumbles, but he moves to hold Rose's hand instead of hiding.
"Yeah. Why're you asking?" Rose asks.
The house is silent. It's unlikely that there'd be any noise coming from inside if the house is as empty as Rose claims.
